I've come to Royal for many years with many different sewing and cleaning jobs. I've even purchased a JUKI sewing machine from the nice lady for my parachute rigging. I came in today, with a simple darning repair on my pants. a different woman immediately said no we don't do that anymore, "I'm too busy". I asked if she could recommend someone and her response was to go find something online. she was rude, and "being too busy" to do a simple paid job of what they advertise made no sense. The owner/seamstress of this establishment is so unaccommodating, it's bizarre. She does not care how you feel and if you have even the smallest tweaks to her work, she will yell at you, throw a tantrum, dismiss you from the place and refuse to work on you any further while making snide remarks to her coworkers. She is unspeakably rude and unless you feel like being degraded and yelled at for simply wanting to feel comfortable in your clothes, do NOT come here. She aims to overcharge you for simple, easy work and will not stand for you trying to get her to go outside her agenda! read more

This is probably one of the best alterations/sewing places I've ever encountered. The family does such great work that I've actually mailed clothing from out of state to Kent-based relatives to have them repair it for me. I've had jeans patched, seams in coat linings redone, and dress lengths altered. They also expertly patched the covers of a family member's fraying couch cushions, ensuring that she could get a few more years wear out of her current sofa. I appreciate that before beginning a job, they provide a very realistic assessment of what is possible with the particular garment. I've also found their prices to be extremely reasonable for the quality of work that they do. I've never gotten clothes dry cleaned here, but I did notice a posse of Kent State band uniforms hanging out the last time I went in for a pick up. This place is a bit of a secret jewel in the Kent/Stow area. I've been using them for 40 years or so; mostly for alterations. The seamstresses there can do almost anything: replace zippers, reverse collars ( I may be one of a select few to have this done), shorten sleeves, and more. Their prices are fair and their quality of work is excellent. Not only do they dry clean, this shop also does repairs and alterations. I had 3 pairs of pants repaired. It has saved me over $100 dollars and a frustrating jeans shopping trip so I am forever grateful to them for their work. Don't take your clothes here if you have animals!!!!! I have been getting my dry cleaning done with these people for years. Today, I go to pick up my shirts, and the man told me that they are charging me an extra 5.00 for cat hair being on my shirt. There was hardly any cat hair on my shirt, and besides that, the woman who accepted the shirts didn't mention the upcharge when they took the shirts (and there is nothing said on their signage). Good business practice would have been to mention to me that they do not accept clothes with any cat hair on them, and charge me the original quoted price. I politely argued with the man that I should not be charged 5.00 AFTER the fact and informed him that if he charged me the extra 5.00, he would lose a customer. He continued to WHINE about the cat hair like I was his mother. Obviously this business doesn't appreciate its customers, or have any business acumen. read more

I came here to have a difficult bridesmaids dress altered. They were very reasonably priced! Finished the dress for me very quickly because I procrastinated, and after they finished it I still wasn't comfortable with the length (completely my own fault and the fault of my shoes that stuck to the dress when I walked) and they fixed it for me in a day! I got 2 dresses altered and one of them has one side shorter then the other and now feels uncomfortable to wear. The other one is good in the front but the lining is longer in the back and peaks out which looks horrible. read more

I recently took 2 dresses there. They do good work for a very reasonable price, but both dresses turned out the wrong length. In all fairness, I didn't take the dresses back, so I never gave them an opportunity to resolve the issue. But I'm really bummed because one of the dresses is way too short now. I had been taking college graduation pictures and when I got home, I realized I had driven with my WHITE stole caught in the door. Half of it was black and dirty from the drive home.
