David Thomas who's phone listed does not work and he has not returned our email or calls. The information for energy trust of Oregon was never been given to us for our rebate that he said he would send it in the UI ratings never happened. The install and ordering had several challenges including broken windows and window not made correctly. They did not fit and a month later they came in only to have more challenges. One window was ordered three times. I called the warehouse and no one could help us there. Not sure what is next. read more

We were in the market for new windows and some of the quotes were well above our budget. Saw the Royal Exterior triple pane ad and figured we'd hear out another sales pitch. Price came in at half of some of our other quotes. Ultimately getting a straight forward quote without a lot of the sales pitch gimmicks from other Companies was very refreshing and the price couldn't be beat. Windows were recently installed, overall installation process was professional. It is done by the window manufacturers team, and they handled install very well. Overall very satisfied with the job, couple of minor things are going to be fixed by vinyl doctor within next week, but everything looks great. Hoping our heating bill sees a drop in comparison to last year. Definitely a large lead time, but that was across all of our window quotes. Can we just take the time and applaud Dave for being an honest business owner? It's always refreshing to see that within the home improvement industry. First, Dave came on time to our appointment (while I was late to my own home). Second, he did a thorough walk through of all the windows we were looking to replace. We needed to replace some windows in the master bedroom, bathroom, and living room. Who builds a bedroom without windows that open? In Oregon? No matter, after getting bids from a few companies we decided to go with Dave and Royal Exteriors. Not only were his prices as competitive as his ads state but he was extremely thorough with his presentation, contracting, and follow up. The install came in far under the original time estimate. Installation of 6 windows and a sliding glass door took a single day. Dave came out to check on the work a few days later. Neither of us was satisfied with the caulk job that the installers did. They did a good job, just too much of a good job. There was some overcaulking that would require painting. With the wall being a southern exposure paint matching will be a problem. Without prompting Dave offered to reduce our total price as compensation. While he was inspecting the bathroom window he found an imperfection that he didn't like, examined it, and initiated a warranty repair all on his own. He wasn't satisfied with the quality of the window and immediately started working on making it right. The windows themselves are great. Crystal clear, easy to open, and I can already tell a difference with the feel of the outside no longer being on the inside :) And a word of advice, after the first time you call him and listen to his outgoing voicemail greeting you can press # to skip it and leave your message. read more

Finally the job is finished. When the installers arrived to reinstall the correct windows they found that the manufacturer had sent the exact same incorrect windows again. At that time they replaced the last 3 windows of the job and said they would speak with Alside about the incorrect windows that were sent out. After a substantial time the correct windows were ordered and installed. The job is done. I have noticed that the heater is cycling much less and the house is retaining heat much longer then it did with the old aluminum framed windows. It also feels like the intense heat on hotter days is not as bad in the house. I will update this review in another year to see if the quality is still there. read more

I have used Royal exteriors on 2 separate occasions for replacing our old drafty windows. Dave is very thorough and professional when visiting your home for a quotation. The first time Dave came over 2 years ago, he extolled the virtues of triple paned windows versus double panes through the convincing use of a heat lamp. I was sold by the great value pitch and competitive cost for the windows. Following a couple of years I had Dave quote me on replacing the balance of our old windows. I didn't think I could afford new windows but thought I would look into it regardless. I got a few bus and was blown away by how thorough the owner is. Very detailed and explained and informed me of details I didn't even know to ask. He was a little hard sell towards the end, but to save me a few thousand dollars for better windows, I feel was worth it. What got me was that he showed me competitor bids given to him. Two of which I had bids from. Other competitors didn't explain what the numbers meant, the u factor, etc. That's what I was looking for. Had these windows installed and waited until it was a hot day to see how energy efficient they are. It's amazing, my house feels much cooler now during the day. I notice the difference and they look beautiful. The installers installed all the windows but one. Error on their end and am waiting for that now, but the owner won't take any money until the job is complete. More than fair. I could not find any negatives with this company. Just had 8 windows installed in our 1941 home. Saw their ad in the Home magazine and decided to get a quote from them after getting several from other companies. Dave met us at our home and was completely professional, organized and easy to talk with. Our neighbors recently had all their windows and sliding glass doors replaced through Royal Exteriors, so we had the opportunity to watch the installers at work. We were very impressed and after hearing how thrilled our neighbors were with them, we contacted Dave Thomas for a quote. He is very straight-forward, very easy to discuss details and pricing with, very knowledgeable and best of all -- no high pressure. We have had quotes from other companies in the past 3 months, so have their information to use as a comparison. (Only one of them offered argon-filled windows). We were quite surprised to learn that the triple-pane windows with argon and low-E glass was considerably less than the double-pane with argon. So we ordered the windows, and specified that we wanted the same installers as our neighbors had used. The installers were outstanding. They went right to work and had all 9 windows (including 3 on the second story) installed that same day, plus caulking the inside. All our inside window sills were perfectly cut, and since their saw had a vacuum on it, there was no mess. The next day they returned and caulked on the outside, washed all the windows inside and out and left us with clean, shining windows. They are so solid and well made. Our house is over 30 years old, so we had the old aluminum frame windows -- wow! what a difference.
