Back in the spring of 2018, Renewal by Anderson replaced 21-Windows and two sliders in our home . 13 of the windows were custom sized. Total cost: $51,000.00. This was a "discounted" price but we've been very happy with them since. I even gave them a 5-star review post installation. The quality of their product and the skill of their crew couldn't have been better. We were told at the time of the sale in January of the same year, "iyou ever need repair, adjustment or replacements of our windows, screens or sliders for as long as we owned our home to just call." We even have that promise in writing. Jump ahead to early this year. We have an issue with the downstairs slider. It has stopped being easy to open so I called RBA to please call me as I explained the problem on their voicemail system. As of this date, I have not received any callbacks. I even tried prompting them with the the possibility of me writing a review/complaint on Yelp and posting it on Facebook. Crickets. Still no call after almost two months. Last year, I told my brother-in-law to use RBA for their new replacement widows which he has since ordered yet to be installed. You would think they would put 1+1 together and give me a call. The first interaction I had with them was when I submitted my email and phone number so they could contact me and schedule an appointment. The problem started when they began calling me nonstop every single day, early in the morning, to the point where I had to block their number. I still didn't give up. I had my personal assistant call them to schedule an appointment on my behalf, but they refused. They said I personally had to call and give approval before she could set it up. I'm a busy man, which is exactly why I asked my assistant to handle it. My assistant still didn't give up. She went directly to their website and successfully scheduled an appointment that was supposed to take place today. Yesterday, I received a text message saying they were trying to reach me to confirm the appointment. I replied and confirmed it. Now, this morning, I'm receiving another text message saying they were unable to confirm the appointment, so they canceled it and are telling me that if I want to reschedule, I have to call them. This review isn't about their services, it's about their marketing. I have never used my email address or my home address or my phone number to request information about home windows. I haven't ever requested info about windows by this company. That doesn't matter. Somehow they've decided that I'm a potential customer and they won't leave me alone. It's borderline harassment. The hundreds of junk emails, the hundreds of junk advertisements in the mail, the texts, the phone calls with someone leaving a message telling me that they've been trying to get ahold of me for some very important information. Even salespeople coming to my house. I've called them telling them to leave me alone and they say they'll stop but they never do. This type of overly aggressive marketing is incredibly obnoxious and completely unacceptable. I don't need windows, but if I did ,renewal by Andersen would be the absolute last company I would ever use. There's pretty much no scenario where I would ever give this incredibly obnoxious company one cent of my money. read more

Let's start with the good. The sales rep we had visit to get the process started was probably one of the best salespeople we've ever talked to and did a great job both selling the product (in this case windows) and making the payment process simple. When it came time to install, the installers were generally nice, did a good job cleaning up after themselves and the exterior work was done reasonably well. Things did not go quite so well inside. The windows themselves work fine and are an improvement over what we had previously, but our house was built in 1943 and the interior trim on all the windows and doors is mitered and a particular width. We had also previously tested other window and door frames with a 3M lead test and found that they potentially had lead paint underneath the top layer. The sales rep had assured us they would match the framing style and definitely do a lead test first. The installers did not seem to care about this because they did not test for lead and started right in. When they came to tell us they were finished and show us the final product, what we got was a giant blocky casing that did not in any way match what was in the house. For context, our framing is 3.5 inches in width on all windows and doors in the house. This new framing is 5.5 inches, adding an additional 2 inches all the way around and not mitered. Because the new trim is wider, it doesn't sit level with other framing in the house and it also means the headboard of our bed doesn't fit properly against the wall anymore either. Not to mention it just looks out of place. Additionally, some of the brad nails were also sticking out of the casing and they did not caulk beneath the bottom portion of the trim. I have included pictures for reference, including an example of the original style from one of our other windows we haven't had replaced yet. I understand that sometimes when you have work done on your house, you have to hire someone else to complete another portion or do it yourself (for example, an electrician is not going to repair your wall well or at all after they cut into it), but this feels pretty bad at ~$7K when you also have to do all the painting yourself. What's worse is now we're probably going to end up having to redo the interior casing trim ourselves too. Overall disappointed. read more

HORRIBLE and I really mean HORRIBLE post window installation service and follow up . We spent $38k on new windows for our historic home - BEFORE they have your money and a signed contract - the pre-sales part of things are almost flawless . The sales rep comes to your home loaded with samples , pamphlets, iPad presentations and a very lengthy and boring detailed explanation of their entire process from materials and installation. Keep in mind all this hype and hyperbole is to set you up for " sticker shock " when the salesperson drops the " nuclear price bomb " on you . So let's now skip to POST service . In one word beyond HORRIBLE ! I called their office to have a rep come out to show me screens we decided we wanted to install on the new windows . They sent a rep who not only didn't have screen samples with him - he advised me he was only the " window and door guy" - well that's interesting considering the 1st rep ( who's no longer there) who originally sold us came loaded with everything including screens . I ended up calling the office the next day only to speak to a " service person " who tells me they don't carry the screens and don't do home visits and can only quote me a price on the phone - however I will need to provide them with all the window serial numbers to assure the measurements are accurate for the screens . I insisted that I needed a rep to COME to my home WITH SAMPLE screens so I could decide the best fit and they could then confirm derail numbers, etc . Service guy says he'll have to get management involved . Next day - zero follow up . I call their main office again , and demand to speak to a manager . I end up speaking to a " customer service " manager who tells me he" ll have to check with the sales team schedules since he has no way of keeping track of this . This call was made earlier in the day - still no call back , no follow up nothing . Think twice and think hard before using this company - yes they're products are very good but this office in ( Portland Oregon ) will be challenging if not impossible to work with in the event you need post service anything after you're door or window installs . The long winded tv commercials only tell you part of the story . Read the other multiple 1 star reviews posted on Yelp and other review sites - the complaints are very consistent with their responses to these reviews all sounding the same with NO actual contact names for follow up . We received a PLASTIC POSTCARD offering a free meal with a sales presentation. Their ad people must not be aware that most of the people in the Portland area care deeply about the environment. Having noted Andersen's reputation for high pressure sales, we replaced our windows with a local company that offers a lifetime warranty. If I could give this company a 0 I would. 1) Price We paid 27+K for 3 small bedroom windows and a double front door. My husband has never learned to read reviews or 'shop around'. Customers pay for their massive ad campaign, I think. 2) Sales pitch In June we made it overly clear that we had to have this work done within 2 months. Overly clear BUT NOT IN WRITING. Promises, promises. 1st install attempt 10/14, 2nd attempt 10/28 only after I insisted they "hold" that date per back-order delivery, 3rd attempt not yet scheduled (back order again). This company cannot deliver in a coordinated, timely manner. 3) Communications OR LACK THEREOF I don't even know where to begin here: A) Communications between Renewal by Anderson and paid customer. They never initiated ONE phone communication. After 2 1/2 months of no word, we started calling. To this day, ALL communication has been because we initiated it. B) Between salesman and production unit. What is promised is not what is necessarily produced and delivered. C) Definitely lacking between management and install 'team manager' and install team. First install, the installers were just clueless about product to install (walked in telling us they are installing 3 windows + front door. We knew they only had 1 window + door in truck.) Installed window has faulty spring and no peek hole device was included on the truck. Install team said parts would be here on second install. Second install, both parts still on 'back order' and the team was reading off of old instructions - to install 3 windows. We may hear from this company about these 'loose ends' because we held back 10% payment until project completed. D) Due credit must go to the customer care reps we dealt with as problems occurred. Hats off especially to Kyle who really went to bat for us and tried hard to DELIVER. 4) Faulty product At the cost of these windows, the last thing you would expect is a bad spring in a window that has to be immediately replaced. Overall, our experience with Renewal by Anderson has been frustrating and disappointing at every stage. The lack of accountability and follow-up from their many teams has left us feeling ignored and undervalued as customers. Con-men and liars. Do not use. Run away. Can not install a window square to an opening. They withhold material information. Customer service will lie for their sales and install team, do not stand by their work. Originally were told we could do a retrofit, then, technician said we could not. Not once was it brought up that the window could not be installed square to the opening, or that the opening was not level. When we complained about the poor install job they strait up lied in an email to us that the above was discussed, which it was not. They sent the lead installation manager out to check, never once pulled out a tape measure, and simply stated "you signed a contract" We were sent a check for $500.00 of hush money, which we have not cashed. The damage in curb appeal and thus value to our property is far beyond the over priced cost of the product. Don't waste your money. Hire local window team who has a reputation to uphold and stands by their work. We had 20 year old , double pane, vinyl windows in our home on a busy street in Bend, OR. We were invited to a luncheon to see how wonderful RENEWAL BY ANDERSEN windows were. The material seems good, but, we really wanted to cut out sound mostly. We don't believe that these windows are any better than the old versions. The installation was very good, except for cracking caulking after a month. The caulking was touched up after a month wait. our biggest concern was the window screens. We chose a cheaper type to save some money, well, when it rains, we are unable to see out of the windows. We talked to many people at RBA and we were finally told, it would cost $1500 more for a better type of screen. After paying $27,000+ for 9 windows, none of them super large, we said no way. So, to some it up, hopefully the warranty for life wi stand, but, we are truly dreading our decision. read more

2/16/24 They still suck! Come to find out 11 months later they took a shortcut on the window they messed up on. So time to fix that and address the improper installment of the French doors. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!!! BUYER BEWARE!!! Oh, and also the French doors they installed they forgot to show us how to fully (and properly) secure the door. So when the install manager noticed this he address it to me as though I was an idiot, when in reality it was knowledge they never passed on. Here is my personal experience with and opinion of this company: If I could give this company 0 stars and file a restraining order against everyone there, I would. For multiple years now I've been getting junk mail hand-written by Alex, sometimes in hand-signed envelopes with no return address. The letters usually start off by "suggesting" that my own personal windows look old, faded, leaky, worn out, and in need of replacement, and that the company is working on several of my neighbors' houses. Checked boxes telling me what's wrong with my windows, and carefully-worded insults about the state of my professionally-remodelled house. What this corporation fails to understand is that everyone here knows each other, and no one uses Andersen for a myriad of reasons. Not only have I heard of nightmarish install processes and exorbitant pricing, but their marketing campaign feels aggressive, disrespectful, and invasive. On top of that, my windows and doors are 3 years old. Brand spanking new, and I have a company now telling me they effectively look trashed? How blatantly disrespectful. Why on earth would anyone flock to that? I chose specifically to use Marvin windows in 2020 because of this brand's horrible reputation for service and its product. I think the borderline-false advertising, personal targeting, and WILDLY invasive lack of respect that this company seems to reflect should be illegal. The last flier finally annoyed me to the edge, and I called, leaving a detailed voicemail asking to be taken off the list and respectfully explaining why. Instead of a response, I got another handwritten letter from the GENERAL MANAGER, Cherish, with the same old tired ad campaign. My whole neighborhood is using Renewal. My windows "may" look tired. Etc. The wording they use to get around direct insults is laughable and embarrassing from a consumer standpoint. Not only did this new letter come from Cherish, after seemingly being previously assigned to Alex for the longest time, it was in a personal envelope, already opened, and addressed to the PREVIOUS owners. A short time ago I agreed to have R by E install two windows and one glass sliding door. Ever see their TV ads? The ones that show clean, uniformed English speaking installers? Not what came to my house. I got a Ukrainian who spoke no English and a Russian who spoke a little bit. They wore dirty clothing that was tattered and torn. There was an unpleasant odor about them. Install was OK except they left two finish nails heads sticking up because they tried to drive them into another nail inside the wall. That was sloppy. The windows are VERY hard to slide up an down. A tech who came due to my complaint regarding the issue sprayed silicone on the edges. No improvement. I've resprayed many times. No improvement. I think their fancy FIBREX or whatever it is is BS. Regarding the glass slider, it works OK but the locking hardware feels cheep and flimsy. If you hire them they will never stop bombarding you with marketing efforts. By mail text and phone multiple times per week. Bottom line in my opinion; avoid them at all costs. They suck on every level. read more

On August 13 2024, I ordered a replacement Patio Door from Renewal by Anderson. It took them until early November for them to have the door built and installed. The problem that I am having with Anderson windows is that as part of my order was that I requested that the doorknob and dead bolt from my old door be installed in the new door because my house uses the same key for all of the doorknobs and dead bolts in the house. When the door finely arrived, I found that my old locks would not fit in the new doors as Anderson uses a manufacturing company that makes "Stronger Non-standard Locks" that are larger than the "Standard locking systems" that you can buy at Lowes, Home Depot, or even Walmart. What this means is that I could not fit my "House Matching" Door Lock or Dead Bolt" in my new door. In addition, we found that the Company that sent the new "Stronger" Door Lock System sent a set of "Non-Matching" Dead Bolt and door lock that used 2 separate keys that were not using the same keys. This means that If I had accepted what Anderson had sent me, I would have to carry 3 separate keys, all of the time, to open the 4 doors to my house. I contacted Renewal by Anderson about this and they contacted their Hardware manufacturer and ordered a set of replacement Key Cylinders with "Matching keys and in Mid-December they arrived, and a technician came out to install the new Key cylinders in the new door locking system that came with my new Patio Door. Unfortunately, the design of the "Doorknob" seems to have been changed, and the new key cylinder mechanism would not fit into the "Old" New Doorknob". I, and the Technician contacted Renewal by Anderson and explained the problem and today, January 10. 2025 I got a call from Renewal by Anderson Customer Service, requesting the okay to have a different, "More experienced" Technician come out to try to install the replacement door lock cylinders as that they needed additional proof that there was in fact a problem. And then I was told that the next available date that this "Experienced Technician" Could come out would be on February 11, 2025. I explained that this problem has been here since November and that all that needed to be done was to contact the Door Lock Manufacturer and have them send out a new "Matched Set" of door lock and dead bolt and then have the Experienced Technician come out next week and install the new locks. I was told that they would have to talk to the "Service Manager, again, and that they might call my next Wednesday 15 January, to discuss the problem, again. This problem has been active for 3 months now and it looks like it might take another 2 months to be resolved, after talking to the customer service representative today. I am NOT HAPPY at all because of this delay in solving this problem. It should have been resolved within the first week, but it is taking months. My wife is afraid to leave the house for any reason because at this time our patio door is not totally secure and anyone could open the door withing a minute or two without any problem. read more

Disclaimer: I worked here for 7 years. In home sales can be a murky world. I've worked for companies who are legitimately scam artists (Dabella), and I've worked at honest well intentioned ones as well. RBA might be more expensive than most, but I can honestly say they are honest, knowledgeable, well trained, and just generally nice people. They're actually trained to avoid high pressure situations which is normally the industry's biggest issue. My mom asked me if she should get them. I told her if you're willing to pay a little more for substantially higher quality, then yes. If you're looking for the cheapest no reason to even waste a couple hours. I was fired for reasons entirely my fault and I'd still consider the guy who had to do it a friend. Everybody but Jobe are good folks. Nothing but good things to say from me. Saw their numerous TV adds and received several Mailers highlighting the "Spring Sale". So I called to make an Appointment. Sales person showed up on time. I took him to see the door I wanted replaced, he took some measurements and we went back to the dining room to discuss the job. Their flyer had stated a $879 discount for each door and I figured $2500 for the entire job, Labor and Materials, and with the Discount 1700 to 1900 would br Fair. The salesman`s first price was $10,000 ????? Then he stated that if I Agreed to have the work started in the next few days he could get me a 30% discount for a total Price of $7,000 ????? Remember we are talking about 1 Door !!! I asked him how much was the door by itself and he could not give me that answer, he asked me what I was going to do with the door by itself and I told him the I would install it myself and he said they don't do that. When I told my Seventeen year old Daughter about the Sales Interview she called it for what it was "A SCAM " !!! My Advice, Buyer Be Ware!!! I was unable to even secure a home visit due to the procedures that are in place. After speaking with someone to schedule the appt. I got several phone calls asking to confirm to which I returned a call and confirmed via voice-mail because there is no live person answering. Also received several texts asking me to call and not allowing a response. The night before my appt, I then got a vm that they have canceled. Highly recommend this organization review their policy and not put their scheduling communications heavily on their interested client. I confirmed 2x and that did not secure the appt. Another example of why you should never pay for Product or services from this company via check. I had 2 windows and a french door installed on January 17 2023. The installation went well but the wood sill plate for the french door was missing. They convinced me to sign-off on the project saying that the missing piece would be in soon. Two months later it finally show up and it's maple not oak, I send it back. We wait another month and the oak sill arrives but it's beveled and doesn't match the threshold. Now they want me to wait another month. Lesson learned DON'T SIGN-OFF WITH THEM UNTIL THE JOB IS TOTALLY DONE. Or you end up in Service Dept ineptitude!! Just finished having 18 windows replaced by RBA here in PDX and was happy with the experience, start to finish. At the start, our sales consultant Colin was knowledgeable, patient and communicated excellently throughout the project development phase. Through the middle phase the RBA office Team was reachable by phone as we waited several months for the materials to be produced. They had excellent phone manners and followed up on each call with an email. Lastly, the installation was managed terrific by Vasil and his team these last couple of days. They set clear expectations for what would happen, then Vasil gave me updates every couple of hours on the progress. His team were clean, quiet, fast and the end result was precise. The windows do not keep heat out as advertised at the time of purchase (demonstration with heated lamp). The sales guys promise the buyer will get a rebate for the install.... not true, they sell the windows just shy of the rebate qualifications. The sales guys over promise what the installation guys are capable of doing.... nice guys, some didn't speak English so communication was out of the question, they left a dirty mess inside the house, didn't cover carpeting and walked all over in dirty boots. It rained the day of install and they did not put up a canopy outside over the windows to prevent rain from getting in, trim and siding required post-install painting, and they broke items inside the house causing irreplaceable damage to our kitchen counter tops. A damaged window frame and two damaged screens were installed. It's been over a year since the installation and I am still waiting for the final screen replacement. We spent hours back and forth on the phone - seeing the phony commercials on TV is aggrevating to say the least. read more

A complete disaster of a company. Called at 9:07AM to request a quote and schedule service. Should've been a simple conversation. Logan who was assisting me said his computer froze and it would take so long that he would need to call me back (10 min he said). Then it seems this dud of an employee handed the number to anyone who would call back because at 10:30AM, I received 2 calls simultaneously from two different reps asking me all the beginning intro questions again (then another call and voicemail 5 min after from a 3rd different rep). I called back to speak with Logan since he had all the info already, but was told he was unavailable. Also spoke with another woman who told me he would call back.... lol Will never call back, please don't bother calling me. read more

Renewal by Andersen had replaced the six large picture windows of the apartment building I own about eight years ago and did an amazing job. Recently, vandals broke two of the picture windows, so I needed to have them replaced. Andersen was able to look up the original order and easily reorder the windows. When the windows arrived, their two-person team was amazing. They applied adhesive paper to both sides of the windows so none of the remaining broken glass would fall out. They laid down plastic on the floor to catch any other debris. They then quickly popped out the old ones and put in the new ones in about two hours. I did not have to clean up anything. Nice, friendly guys. Best of all, they offered to take the plywood and insulation that had been covering the broken windows. Super easy, super professional and the cost was very reasonable. read more

An apparent piece of floor sample or a left over from other jobs, no brand new piece from the manufacturer comes with torn protective coverings on the window, and partially razored with utility knife window was installed in my home. I made a complaint and ask for a discount price for it being not brand new. Joel Martin my consultant came later came in the day bullied me like I'm a stupid woman, and said that it's good, brushed my concerns aside , promised me I'm going to be so happy with the products and the job. Red flag: most importantly beware at the end of the job, you will be manipulate, and confused into signing a sketchy invoice. Unsuspecting victim like me, was manipulate into signing a default ( their defense) choice of payment method. Renewal by Andersen did not respect my bills of right, my right to chose and authorized the transaction. The transaction was done between Renewal by Andersen and GreenSky before I could, done prior to unsuspecting victim like me. They take no responsibility period, for the obvious lack of transparency, and the deceptive part of their business . Customer care is a hoax, and consumer rights is not their priority. Here are some things to think about before buying from Anderson.. I had 4 windows replaced by Renewal by Anderson (Portland Oregon) earlier this month. The price was over $16000!! Outrageous price IMHO, but not much different from another bidder so I went ahead with it. It took SEVERAL MONTHS to get them built, and they NEVER contacted me for installation. Firstly, there is a huge different between Anderson and Renewal by Andersen. I have gotten windows from Renewal by Andersen for almost 18 years for multiple homes. This review is for Renewal by Andersen, which is the subsidiary that has a more controlled process. It is not usually the company for new homes and they have their own installers (they do not allow your own contractors or subcontract out for other contractors to install their windows). I had Crew W7 (Nick B, Vasiliv Y and Igor D) come in to replace a big 8' wide patio door. They worked without break from 8am to 2:30pm. They called when they were heading to my house, and when they arrived they were as polite and courteous as they could be. They went out of the way to make sure I was happy. We had some issues with my alarm system, I had to call my alarm company to come in, they worked well with my alarm company to make sure everything was just right. Renewal Andersen does make good windows and doors, but I find the workmanship isn't as great as years before. There were big BLOMPs of caulking in the corners that could have been done better. There were gaps in flashings and etc. All of my complains are not about the sturdiness of the window but on the fine details and finish! I think if Renewal by Andersen can charge so much for their product, they need to make it look like fine windows with better workmanship!! read more
