I wasn't trying to be a jerk; I was genuinely curious how they had gotten that far behind. Apparently, it was the perfect storm: a busy Saturday dinner rush, a catering order for 150 wings, and someone being trained in the kitchen. What stood out was how well the young lady at the counter handled everything. She looked to be high school or early college age, but she wasn't rattled at all. She remained calm, pleasant, and professional throughout the delay. She didn't become defensive or act as though my question was a problem. That deserves to be recognized. They also gave me a card for a free sandwich on a future visit. I don't live in Greenville, so I'm not sure how much value it will ultimately have for me, but it was still a fair and appreciated gesture. I paid around $20 for a chicken sandwich, fries, a cookie, and an iced tea. That wasn't an amazing value, but it wasn't outrageous by today's standards either. The sandwich was good. Was it really the Nashville hot chicken the advertising had me expecting? Not quite. I'd call it a good hot chicken sandwich, but not a true Nashville hot chicken experience. Would I come back? Probably. The food was good, and the way the front counter handled a rough night created a lot of goodwill. Still, 45 minutes is a long wait for this type of meal, even on a busy Saturday, and the food didn't quite live up to the Nashville hot chicken billing.
