Bottom line: Pirate's Deli was a delicious stop for getting tailgating sandwiches pre ECU football game. The NY Yankee Chicken Cutlet Sandwich hit the spot for me. Food takes some time as each are made to order but worth it. Nice and helpful staff at the counter. The Deets: I had the chance recently to go tailgating before an ECU football game, and my friends that regularly do so recommended Pirate's Deli so we stopped on our way to the game. This deli is fairly good sized with a extended menu of offerings on a board around two of the walls near the ordering counter/pickup area. The staff was nice and helpful when ordering. I looked over all the great and plentiful choices, finding the NY Yankee Chicken Cutlet Sandwich (breaded chicken, bacon, melted Swiss, lettuce/tomato, with honey mustard) which looked just right for me. Orders do take a while to come up as each are made to order and there were a few people ahead of us already getting their game day selections. Our orders were out soon enough and we were off to tailgate. The sandwich was very good...just messy enough to be interesting but not chaos to eat and the components came together for a great tasting combination (see pic). I was pretty satisfied with this sandwich and would definitely get this one again. Everyone one else felt the same about their food selections as well. In all, a good stop into Pirate's Deli to secure some tailgating eats before the game. read more

Horrible service we placed a 15 person order for our office. Instead of canceling the employee waited for the Dasher to arrive and threw the receipt at the Dasher while saying we are not doing this! Wasting the Dashers time and fuel. Dasher called to alert us we've since placed another order elsewhere and just now got a cancellation an hour after we placed the order. Portion is small, they charge extra when you use credit card without telling you. They have many varieties but I rather eat at Firehouse sub. read more

Decided to try a fan favorite of ECU campus and Greenville. The menu can be a bit overwhelming with so many salivating options to choose from. I settled on the Greenville Sandwich (pastrami, lettuce, tomato, a little too mustardy for me) on sub bread, Pirate smoothie (blueberries, raspberry, agave) which was a bit tangy for me, and regular fries. I give my lunch a 2.5 out of 5, it was okay, but I am definitely going back to try something else. read more

Very good New York style deli with great customer service the menu is very big and full with great variety as there's all day breakfast lunch and anything in between Im student at ecu and I have no problem stopping in before class and getting a sandwich there honestly pretty fast for the quality. The do have a sit down area but I normally just go grab a bag of chips from the great snack selection and then get bottled drink and get my food to go. Would recommend the meat ball and chicken parmigiana but I wasn't impressed by the cold sandwich seemed like something I could make at home. I really wanted this place to be great. I walked in at 1:25 to 4 tables eating. I walked out at 2:06 with 13 other people still waiting on their food. 30+ minutes for a single sandwich is ridiculous. I think they waited Until they had multiple of the same order to start it. at 20ish minutes into my wait I heard them call out they had 4 sandwiches of the one I ordered to make. despite the wait i remained optimistic. the bread was hard, the portion was not great, and the flavors were dull and did not seem to mesh. this experience is enough for them not to get a second chance. read more

A typical deli type store, this deli was suggested to me for a good original style Italian sub, on the menu it listed ham, salami and provolone while they can be used there are at least 3 but usually 4 different meats in an Italian, usually genoa salami, mortadella, prosciutto, capicola, and sometimes pepperoni with a provolone cheese and garnishes of choice with oil and vinegar. While I passed and left if you make a real Italian sub you'll be the hit around town. While I can't comment on the quality of their food some of the offerings could be promising.... read more

First time here for lunch .....girl at counter was very friendly and helpful making recommendations. The place is well laid out to sit and eat or wait on an order. Food was great! This place is delicious and so convenient. I've been late at night and early in the morning and have always had great service. The salads are super fresh and large. My husband and I have tried about 6 different sandwiches and they have all been good. Due to the convenient location to campus, I started coming here for the fresh juices and have been impressed. I have passed through Greenville before and I have always been reluctant to go anywhere that states "New York Deli" or "New York style" and I have to say I wish I would have come here sooner. I never tried a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll with grape jelly. The kids and I loved it, I was pleasantly surprised. As to what part of New York, you get that type sandwich? I'm not sure. The breakfast sandwiches were definitely New York styled and their bagels were soft. I came here on a Saturday morning expecting a rush of people and it was quiet. Compared to some of the fast food chains and sit down restaurants, I felt lucky that I got to get some great breakfast sandwiches here without having to wait long. Pirate's Deli has had a much needed upgrade since Mike's Deli. However I would not recommend this place due to the quality of food for the quantity of time spent waiting. Staffing could use a boost with customer service and building a community around their restaurant that leaves the customer wanting to come back. read more

Delicious cheesesteak. Way better than hwy 55. Got it through doordash. Wonderful business and I just tried it for the first time. I will be eating here more often again. Ooo and that ny style b.e.c breakfast sandwich oh my glad I discovered this gem. I'm from NJ and these are my types of sandwiches. On delicious hero and rolls. All i can say is...."It ain't no Mike's Deli". The improvements to the building are nice but the food isn't the same. They totally ruined a Falafel sandwich by putting French Fries on it and charging an extra 50 cent to add pickles. read more
