Fried chicken is delicious here. I like getting a two-piece with fries ($7.99) and a cheesesteak ($7.50) to split with my girlfriend. Wings, extra crispy, also please my palate, and I'll always say yes to a side of mac&cheese. Unfortunately, other menu items have been less enjoyable. The popcorn chicken tasted low quality, and like it had been frozen for a long time. The first time I got falafel here, it was delicious; the second time, it had an awful metallic taste, and I couldn't even finish it. That level of inconsistency is highly disappointing. Got the 15 piece box and about a third of the chicken (bottom of box) was extremely dry, small and tasteless. There were about 5 crispy, juicy, tasty pieces on top and then slowly the pieces became smaller, drier and tasteless. It was too many pieces to think it was just one piece of a bad batch. My guess is that they are serving older pieces at the bottom, or someone really doesn't know their white meat! Coleslaw wasn't bad - but too sweet, and same with macaroni salad - WAY too sweet. We were supposed to get 2 orders of biscuits (2x2) but only got one. The first pieces were tasty so we'd try them one more time - but this wasn't a 5-star joint for the disparity in size and flavor. read more

Very good fried chicken. Didn't try any sides, just straight fried chicken. Similar to Royal Farms, less salty, wasn't as fresh as we hoped but we went off hours. Wasn't soggy like KFC, or crispy like Popeyes, probably right in between, if we baked/toasted it, would probably have been amazing(we got it to go). You can really gorge on these due to the low amount of sodium. Definitely going back for more and I'll try the sides out as well. This is my go to spot for lamb over rice. Their white sauce and red sauce make a good combo especially if you get the homemade red. The takeout spot makes about just every type of fast food that you could want. Great in a pinch if you want French fries or even mash potatoes. Prices are very reasonable. They even have ice cream. At $4.50 for two pieces of fried chicken, fries, and a biscuit, this trip to instant obesity is well worth the price of admission. The breading is thin and crispy, and holds on tightly to the hot and juicy meat, resulting in some of the more manageable fried chicken I've had in my day. Its reddish tint got me expecting something spicy, but it was pretty mild in the heat department. Still, this is damn good fried chicken. The helping of fries is roughly two giant hand-grabs, and although the biscuit was nothing more than a soft roll, at least it wasn't dry. And, again, ringing in at under five bills, any minor complaints within this review should be taken with quite the grain of salt. Let's not forget to mention Royal Fried Chicken King offers 36 combo meals, covering the full range of American fast food, all of which will run you less than eight bucks - the one exception being the 15-piece Buffalo Wings deal (with fries and a soda) at $11.50. The red-and-white tile, luncheonette decor evokes blue-collar sensibility and is surprisingly less dingy than its hood exterior might lead you to believe. I yelped "fried chicken" in my 'hood and this lovely establishment popped up. I've always passed by it because I thought it looked questionable, but after reading a few reviews I decided "YOLO" and went for it. Not bad! The guy behind the counter was very nice. For $5 I got my 2 piece, biscuit (which was really a plain roll but thank goodness for that because if I got something smothered in butter, I'd end up at the nearby Methodist hospital with a heart attack after finishing my meal) IN ADDITION to a small cole slaw (which was pretty damn good) and some mashed potatoes and gravy. I'm a small eater so I didn't finish everything- hooray for leftovers. Stop by here to take a break from supporting "the man" and instead, support the hard working neighborhood locals. read more

Ordered from here for our Superbowl party and we were happy little campers with bellies filled with delicious friend chicken. Luckily, they deliver to park slope. We ordered the 15pc with mash potatoes, rolls and coleslaw.The fried chicken was nicely crispy and the inside was juicy (even the white meat)! The only thing I was upset was that there weren't a lot of dark meat pieces ...they were more breasts than wings and drumsticks. As a dark meat lover, it was a bit upsetting but I got over it fairly quickly. No wow factor with the coleslaw, mash potatoes and rolls. I would just recommend getting the fried chicken. read more

If there was a zero rating for this piece of S--t restaurant, it would not be low enough! I ordered boneless HOT wings, and in most restaurants they are boneless with hot sauce on the wings. I got my order and it was dry seasoned chicken strips with no sauce no blue cheese, NO NOTHING! I talked to the delivery guy and he of course just kept saying Boss, Boss, talk to Boss. SO I "talk to Boss", and he says sent it back, as he yells at me! I go back to get the food to give to the delivery guy, and he left before I got back!!! So now I have to call twice before they come back to take the food back, then the delivery guy tries to short me 2 dollars and will not give me my full 18 dollars back and his BOSS, on the phone, tells me to go FUCK myself on the phone! For the price, really decent fried chicken. A bit greasy, and I prefer a bit more crust, but the chicken was juicy & flavorful. The mashed potatoes were just ok, but they get an extra point for using real potatoes, and the gravy was not overly salty. Didn't try anything else so I can't comment on the rest of the food. 5 stars even though this probably should be 3.5 because while my husband was picking up the food, a woman who was clearly strung out walked in and asked for a hand-out for her kid, and they gave her a bag of food. The menu states buffalo wings, but they are not. It is a breaded wing with no sauce. They just give you packets of hot sauce. Normally, buffalo wings are nonbreaded and are tossed in butter and wing sauce. I wouldn't have ordered if I new they were not traditional. this is by far the worst food EVER. I don't normally bother to write bad reviews, but the chicken was was dry and tasteless, mash potatoes i have no idea what that was made of, gravy was a spoonful of some dark brown stuff that had no resemblance or taste to gravy, and the "biscuit" was a little square white flour roll. I was shocked and so disgusted that I put some of that crap in my body. This place should not be called Fried Chicken. never again. beware.
