The food was excellent, and credit where it's due, the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. Everything arrived well prepared, full of flavor, and there wasn't much on the plate to quarrel with. The bill, however, had a bit more ambition than the meal. The base prices are fair enough, but then come the little toll booths: $2 for sour cream, $2 for American cheese, and $3 to swap in fries. None of it is hidden, and the arithmetic is perfectly honest, but honesty and generosity are not always close relations. A $76 meal becoming $99.27 after tax and tip is not highway robbery, but neither is it exactly a warm handshake. The food deserves praise. The pricing deserves a raised eyebrow. Would I return? Yes, because the kitchen earned it. Pretty good option if you want something with a view, better than a fast casual layout and above average meal options that are still reasonably priced. I've had breakfast and dinner here and both were great. The glazed salmon dinner was cooked to perfection, with a nice bed of rice and vegetables underneath, and the service was speedy and friendly, yet no nonsense. We had an excellent dinner, one of the best in a while. Not only was the food terrific, service spot on, but the prices have held reasonable. We shared the eggplant appetizer and Caesar salad. Both delicious! My husband's filet was perfectly cooked with great seafood. My crab cakes (my first this year) were huge and delicious. Cost is held down by BYO, which I love. We had lunch here and it was just ok. A positive was the service. While not super friendly, it was efficient and fast. The view is nice, right near the dunes at the beach. The space is a bit dated but seemed clean. The food was ok - I enjoyed the fried tomatoes on my salad but the greens were drenched in dressing making the rest of it hard to eat. The Royal Grille is a great little spot to eat lunch or take lunch out for the beach. Their food is surprisingly good, and you can't beat the view from their patio. I haven't yet been for breakfast, but for lunch, I can recommend their chicken salad, taco salad, and buffalo chicken wrap. The waitresses on the patio could be a little friendlier, but I recommend them for anyone close by looking for a quick lunch. read more

First meal of vacation, and it was knockout! We've been coming here for years, but today I decided to try the fish tacos. Asked for fried fish instead of the standard and it was hands down the BEST fish tacos I've ever had! The aioli on it was phenomenal, and I even got some extra on the side. For a hotel restaurant it was pretty decent. Standard American fare catering to tourists and hotel guests. Decently priced. Generally open to the public, except some dinner services on some weekends. Take out lunch was great for the beach. Was bummed out they used styrofoam containers and so much packaging. Hope they can be more environmentally conscious next season. read more

For the past 7 years of Wildwood vacations, my family and I have been coming here especially breakfast and we don't even stay at the hotel because our house is right down the street. The view, great food and price is to easy to pass up. Starting we the hostess, who is SUPER sweet and remembers me and my family, greets you like you've been there a thousand times. The wait, if any, is usually very short, even though all the tables and booths are filled. Choosing between indoor or outdoor seating, either choice is great choice. We have been going to this restaurant for breakfast and dinner for years. We just tried breakfast there this morning and under the new ownership it is just as great, if not better. I especially like the glorious morning muffins and the egg white veggie omelette with goat cheese. The new outdoor seating is great, providing a nice view of the beach/ocean. read more

This is the best place to get breakfast! They servers and hostess were very nice and helpful. The hostess even went out of her way to give us tips on where to go in Cape May! I discovered this place while on vacation in WC last year and was looking forward to returning during this year's vacation. I'm happy to say that everything was just as good! I've visited this place 6 times now and have only had breakfast but the food has never disappointed. Almost every table/booth has an ocean view and the prices are more than reasonable for the quality and presentation. Until yesterday I would have rated this place a solid 5 stars. Unfortunately, our waitress (an older lady with very pink lipstick) was less than stellar and had an attitude. I was surprised since all of the other workers that I had ever interacted with had been great. Given all of my positive past experiences, I don't think that one negative experience warrants lowering the rating from 5 to 4 stars. I'll be back again next year! read more

Royal Grille has some attractive marketing as I decided to give this place a try after flipping through a brochure in my hotel's office. To their credit, the Grille does have a lovely beachfront view and the interior seems updated and fresh but that's all that made my experience enjoyable. The ambiance was odd as the music featured was a 70s rock station that was staticky and didn't work with the style of the restaurant. The service was fair as the waitress was attentive but never offered to get me and my guest drinks apart from water. The food was average and my Chicken Royale was swimming in a buttery sauce which while it had a nice flavor was overwhelming to the dish. The entrees came with a salad which was a basic chopped iceberg mix. All in all I wasn't impressed by the food or ambiance and for the price the value was lacking. read more

The food was alright, but there was a waitress on the older side who was incredibly rude to my family and me. Additionally, most people in the restaurant were not wearing their masks correctly (not covering their nose with it). The waitress who served us was one of those people. She also took off her mask to yell at my family. My experience was not a good one and I would not recommend coming here if you want good service and a safe environment. This restaurant is in the Port Royal Hotel where we stay for a week every year and it gets better every year. I loved their stuffed flounder. Thursday is prime rib night and it never disappoints. Before going here i didn't realize that the restaurant was connected to a hotel so it made things a little different then I expected but once I got pass that point I actually enjoyed my time at the restaurant. Save your money, find a real restaurant. The location is nice, so you'll have a fairly good view of the beach whether you eat in the dining room or outside. The food is completely mediocre, and while the prices are comparatively low, even they are unjustifiably high for the food that is served. Service was pretty lame as well. Asking for anything seemed like an ordeal. If you're here, you're obviously on vacation, so skip this place and find a better restaurant so you can enjoy yourself. read more

Perfectly adequate beach food. Nothing memorable but the food was cheap, the service was alright, and the patio was a nice place to eat outside. You can dine in the restaurant, on the patio, or go to the walk up window. All are very clean and the staff is nice. read more
