I used the EZ move service to ship from Kahului to the mainland. This is where one brings their belongings over to Royal Hawaiian Movers in kahului and loads them in a cardboard container. I went with the 93 cubic foot box. No problem getting my stuff from my Toyota Tacoma into the box. The box is then put in a shipping container and shipped to Oahu and then on to Tacoma Washington. About a month after packing the container I got an email from Lincoln Moving in Tacoma Washington saying my container was available for pickup. I drove my Toyota Tacoma (which I shipped separately) to Tacoma Washington and Lincoln Moving loaded my cardboard container into the back of my Toyota Tacoma. All in all a very easy moving process. I have lived in Hawai'i for 20 years; the last five on Lāna'i. December brought a change to our life that took me back to the Mainland and although the move was coordinated through my new employer, I had to offer my sincerest gratitude to the crew and management at Royal Hawaiian for the greatest move experience I've had to date. Kahea Kaina was always polite and happy when we spoke and I felt her warmest aloha every time we spoke regarding the move process. No matter what question I had, she answered it and gave resolve to anything my girlfriend or myself asked. Even after leaving Lāna'i, she reached out to check on how we were and that they would coordinate the transfer in Maui to a Matson container. The day of the move it was pouring but even as the foreman arrived on time and helped the container delivery driver set up the truck, he assured that things would go great and not to worry. Of course it stopped raining and all of our things stayed dry. The crew that packed our things was phenomenal! They laughed, they sang, they had fun and they busted ass all day. When you look at an entire house and think about all of the effort that goes into boxing everything up and wrapping all the furniture...to think six men did it in six hours is mind-blowing. We just moved from California to Maui. We used another company to ship furniture, personal belongings and a baby grand piano. The movers did not have the equipment or manpower to move the piano upstairs. We tried using a couple of local guys - but they were also unable to move it. We were 0-2. I called Royal Hawaiian Movers. Jerry asked specific questions and had excellent follow through. He was focused and solution oriented. The crew of 6, brought a piano board and moved the 750 pound piano up 15 stairs! They were extremely careful with every step they took. They assembled the piano with ease. Did not put clearly labeled boxes in correct rooms, damaged a door frame in moving my dresser, did not put legs back on my dresser (which they removed for safety in moving), and have not responded to my claim. These guys were fantastic!! Unfortunately our elevator was broken. We had a LOT to move and we are on the 3rd floor! I was expecting the worse in the hot Hawaiian sun. Not only did they not come prepared with their Covid masks but they cheerfully set up a chain 'passing' system that had the job done very quickly. We recently moved from Southern California to upcountry Maui. After 40 years in the Sunshine State we decided to opt out of the traffic, smog, and rampant high density development. We selected DeWitt to move our household goods. An important factor was the reputation of Royal Hawaiian Movers, a DeWitt owned company. Also, Royal Hawaiian has a local facility where inbound containers can be stored indefinitely. This was a major consideration since our new home would not be completed for another 9 months. Packing and heading for Hawaii is not for the faint-of-heart. Ours was a large shipment and we found the service on both ends - by DeWitt and Royal Hawaiian - to be courteous, professional, and thorough. We especially appreciated the "cotton wool" care provided by our principal contacts in San Diego (Alejandra) and Kahului (Kahea) and support staff. Thank you for setting our minds at ease. At pickup and delivery, the workers were cheerful, polite, and had a "can do" attitude. This was especially true on Maui where they had to manually offload everything to smaller trucks in order to make it up a steep incline. "No problem" said our delivery managers (Gene and Aaron) and they got it done. Two in the crew were women and they had the most energy! (Hint: all work hard, so consider a tip.) All-in-all, DeWitt and Royal Hawaiian delivered as promised. If you choose them to do your household move, you will be in good hands! read more

OKAY updated on March 6th. I just have to say I am impressed that after leaving this review I recieved a call from Jerry who provided me with an estimated delivery time on Feb 28th. In addition the General Manager (Jeff Nadeau) sent me emails apologizing for the issues raised in my review. This really was a top notch response and I am grateful that they are looking at their reputation here on YELP. On the morning of Feb 28th (at 7:30am) I finally got a call back from the Maui move coordinator - but she basically threw "Dispatch" under the bus by stating they should have called me - even though I left her a message the day before at 9:30am. I also NEVER heard back from DeWite Alejandra who I left two message for. So if it were not for the fact the General Manager and Jerry followed up I would have left this review as a ONE STAR. But they were extra kind so updated this to reflect their support. Previous message from February 27, 2020 In the past week I have left two message for Alejandra at Dewitt Movers in San Diego - no call back. So I called the Maui Royal Hawaiian Company for information about the household goods we had shipped. We were told we were to have them delivered on Feb 28th and someone would let us know in advance. I just called this morning and left a message pleading with them to give me a time so I can arrange childcare. No returned call, so I called at 4:37pm and they close at 4:30pm. I have no idea if my delivery is coming or not. This is the worst experience I could have never thought of in a nightmare. Can't someone just pick up the phone to tell is what is happening? Royal Hawaiian just helped me get packed and move off of Maui. *sadness* =( However, during this move from the estimate, they were responsive, friendly, and professional. My one gripe is that the person who did the estimate was WAY off on his thinking for how much stuff I had. He estimated a full 40' container, and it turned out to be less than half of the container, and I took more stuff than I said I would be taking. I could've saved a few hundred dollar by hiring a 20' container instead. That being said, when the movers came, they were on time, worked quickly, and were pau in a much shorter amount of time than the estimator had estimated. The office staff were also friendly and responsive when I had questions. My move was a bit different in that I didn't do it all with Royal Hawaiian. I broke it up into 3 pieces, used Royal Hawaiian to pack what I couldn't and load the container, I used a shipping company for the container (hiring it myself), and I have another company at the destination to unload. Overall, Royal Hawaiian is MUCH more responsive than some other companies I've used, and they do what they say they'll do when they say they'll do it. I highly recommend Royal Hawaiian for your moving needs. read more

Requested a quote from Royal Hawaiian Movers (RHM) as we were moving from the island of Lana'i to the island of Maui. We had a fair estimation of what this should cost as we had moved from the mainland to Hawaii a couple of times. Our last move was from Charleston SC to the island of Lana'i. A crew packed all of our belongings in Charleston, everything was trucked to California where it went by barge to Oahu. Due to Covid shut down our property sat in storage on Oahu for 5 months before it could get to Lana'i where another crew delivered and unpacked our stuff. Charleston to Lana'i including storage our total price was $12,000. The door to door quote that RHM gave us for an inter island move was $22,000, and we were moving even less items than we moved before, no bedroom furniture except for 1 dresser, we don't even own a couch. When we called to question the quote we received no reply from RHM. read more

Looked at Pods where you pack it yourself and it was actually cheaper to have the RHM come and do all the work for me. Mike C. came to do the estimate and was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. He gave me an estimate that came in lower than what I had figured. Crystal and staff in the office were friendly and attentive to my needs and always replied quickly to any emails. Crystal kept me up to date on when my items left island and when to expect my items on this end. Joe & Jason were my movers. Tara coordinated the move from the time I signed the contract until after my goods / car were delivered. From Mike and the easy and accurate measurement/scheduling, to Harvey/Lily/Roland and the best packing job I have seen in a lot of moves, to picking up a box that I forgot to include and adding it to the shipment the day before xmas eve, after I had already left the island. Giving this review before we even get our shipment because this company has truly been a nightmare to work with. Our container has been sitting at the port in Maui for days now, and Royal Hawaiian refuses to pick it up. They say the earliest they will deliver to our home is two weeks from now. First they told us they were booked through September, but then said that because they were way past our required delivery date already, they'd do it in two weeks. So which is it? Are you really booked through September if you're able to magically come up with a date in two weeks? They have refused to respond to us and like other reviews have said, they only reach out when they need something. We have been without furniture since the end of May (will be 11 weeks once/if it's ever delivered.) We're a military family and feel completely helpless in this situation. Royal Hawaiian told us they are too busy delivering other military shipments on island, yet we are the ONLY military family transitioning onto the island right now. Being caught in a lie is not a good first impression. I'll update this review if I ever receive my goods to let everyone know what's broken. USE A DIFFERENT MOVING COMPANY IF YOU WANT YOUR GOODS. read more

This company doubled the estimate they gave me after I left island. Very rude when asking why and never provided me a tear for the amount of weight they claimed I had in my moving boxes. Took over eight weeks to receive our household items. Bent a very expensive Mac tool box and never even enclosed my items in a container just threw them in a van lift box and never sealed it in front of us then seen them parked at Puamana park hanging out with my items in open box. Worst moving experience ever. Stay away from these guys as they doubled the estimate I was given. Horrible service on the Hawaii side of our move. Completely lied to us on cost. Estimated never returned my calls when questioning price. Stay away from these guys. Update: I was contacted by Mr. Ross Amparo of Royal Hawaiian movers who showed true concern for the problems of my move from Maui. Mr. Amparo took all of my concerns and addressed them with true Aloha and promised to follow up with the actions that lead to my complaints. Our little story below will make it clear, if you can't afford Royal Hawaiian Movers, you can't afford to move. We learned that the hard way when we got ripped off by "Hawaii Movers Pro" "Prime Movers," "City Movers" and all the different names they change to in order to stay in the shadows. This all changed when my wife called R.H.M. Kahea answered, I could almost see the light shining through the phone. The mood changed quickly as they spoke for a little while, i was pretty sure I just witnessed a small miracle. With pure, sincere aloha, Kahea not only calmed us down but put us at ease, we finally felt safe......after a simple phone call. When it came time for the move, they made it look easy. I didn't even lift anything, but I still wasn't anticipating it to be easy. Watching the move was reassuring, to see tat our belongings were cared for by consummate professionals, just as Kahea promised! From a business minded standpoint, watching the team work other was a gift in its own. It's not often we get to witness elevated team synergy in action. My husband and I wanted to use Royal Hawaiian Movers to ship all of our things to the mainland. We called to get a quote and they told us they will be getting back to us the next day. They called us back the next day and ask to send photos of the items we will be shipping and they will then give us a rough estimate. We sent out the pictures but didn't get a response. Recently moved to the mainland. I was petrified at the thought of a local company handling my move as I'd heard horror stories of theft, loss and terrible delays for years. I picked Royal hawaiian at random basically, because the date i needed was available. I packed my own stuff (I always do) and yes I packed our valuables in sheets, blankets and boots rather than in their camera bags or original boxes out of fear of theft. The manager came for estimate, on move day two movers came, worked for about three hours to inventory and pack the truck; they protected my floors carefully, were quiet and hard at work. To my great relief, Everyone I dealt with throughout the entire process at Royal Hawaiian Maui was professional, courteous, timely; the service was well priced, my stuff arrived on time, all intact. Their crews are great! We had to move our entire model home with furnishings, the office and all files. They showed up on time, finished on time, and gently handled and wrapped all the furniture. They worked very hard, no slacking, and I appreciate their attention to the details. Update: Our final bill was $325.00 HIGHER than the estimate. Mike's estimate was just too low. Mike explained the additional $325.00, but still, I wish that he had been a little more accurate, since that is a lot of extra money. read more

I hired Royal Hawaiian Movers to make my move from Maui to CA. They neglected to pack an expensive bird feeder that was located in my garden and has sentimental value to me. When I contacted them they only offered to send another container and charge me for 1000 pounds to ship it. I asked them to ship it via UPS or FEDEX and they refused. I asked them to reimburse me (less than $200.) so that could purchase another one and they ignored my request. There was excess room in the container used to ship my contents and they could have packed the item. They charged me $7500. to move the contents of a 564 square foot condo but once they get your money the customer service is gone. Royal Hawaiian Movers are the most expensive mover and the customer service does not equal their high pricing.
