Great takeout option. I was spoiled living in Jackson Heights for many years, so when a friend told me to get Indian food from a BP gas station, I was like "OK, really?" Yeah REALLY. Very large portions, tasty vegetable samosa, fluffy naan, and sweet man working behind the counter today. I had mattar paneer and it was sweet and had a nice kick to it. I imagine you can ask them to make it spicier if you prefer. Great that the meal comes with a small salad, small rice, and a large naan. Really easy online ordering through their own website. Sketchy. I ordered food for an office lunch and after my experience I will definitely not use them again. 1) they quoted me about $5-10 higher per dish than stated on website. When I asked why they stated thy haven't updated it yet online for catering. Ok. 2) I ordered chicken kabobs - he stated "yes ok $xxx I can give you to $xxx" Ok fine, higher than on web but I triple checked it was chicken kabobs. Yes ma'am. Got chicken biryani!!!! A rice dish with a side of rice oh and a salad. 3) looked on the receipt and they charged me for lamb kabobs servings - of course the price is higher bc you charged me for a way more expensive entree! But insisted it was the correct price. 4) called me back to insist I pay in cash though I stayed I would not bc it was a business expense! The food was hot and good, but nothing id go out of my way for. Especially with the negative experience in communicating with them. I would not order their catering again. We have been getting takeout from Royal Kabab for years. I recently tried the online ordering option at 6:30pm, scheduled to pickup food at 8:15pm. At 8pm, my phone rang - it's Royal Kabab. A man was yelling at me - WHY DIDN'T YOU PICKUP YOUR ORDER? (over and over again). After I said - excuse me, it's scheduled for 8:15pm pickup, what are you talking about? Then, he kept repeating, "What do you want? What do you want?" it was then that I reminded him that he called me. He told me I needed to calm down and just pickup the order. My husband had just arrived as he was hanging up with me. The order had been sitting since 6:30pm. It was cold. I was already upset by this interaction, but as a 20-year vegetarian, you can imagine my surprise to find 1/2 chicken and 1/2 paneer in my paneer tikka masala. We're done. read more

Today was my first visit. I decided to try the Lamb Curry with touch of heat. The portion sizes were ridiculous for the price. I got maybe 4 tiny nuggets of lamb and not enough rice for the sauce. They must use hidden valley ranch on the two bites of salad which I think is awful. But I must say the flavor of the lamb curry was very good. While traveling from Waldorf, MD to BALTIMORE we searched anything that's halal and we found this on yelp which was within the same route that we were traveling so we went there. When we arrived there we thought it will not be a good idea to have lunch here since it's a BP gas station and the restaurant is a combo of subway and halal food but we were hungry so we decided to order some Biryani, kabab, Curry, and Chana masala with naan and rice. The food was over priced for its quality but something is better then nothing. The food was better then our expectations, service was a little slow but it's ok since only one person was handling the register and also he was the cook also a waiter too. But I really appreciate the fact that someone was there to serve us the halal food. This place is located in a gas station that has a Subways nxt to it.I went in for subways, but decided to try this place. The food was good Ang tasted fresh. I had the palak paneer which is a spinach dish with chunks of what I think is tofu. The place itself is not too nice, the food is at a level that you would think that they would be a stand alone fancier restaurant. Last week I tried their stuffed patty thing, I feel bad, can't remember the name, but it too was really delicious. I now hold off on getting gas elsewhere so that I can stop here and pick up dinner. Don't let the fact that this place is located inside of a gas station steer you clear. I had the chicken Tikka masala. Flavor was good. It was more watery than I am use to but again, the flavor was great. The mint chutney was also good... Naan was yummy... soft and warm just like Naan is suppose to be. Royal Kabab released a Groupon deal awhile back, but I discriminated and didn't buy it when I realized they were located in a gas station. Afterwards, I read some great reviews of the place and bought a voucher from Restaurant.com to give them a try. I went with my husband and was definitely impressed. The outside of the station looks on the trashy side, but inside, the restaurant was clean and up to date. Everything looked nice. When I presented my voucher, I was told that they do not participate with Restaurant.com and that they had had the problem for awhile and had turned away other vouchers. I wasn't thrilled about this but I have heard similar complaints about Restaurant.com before, so we ordered anyway at full price. It is definitely worth it. The prices are reasonable, the food fresh and good. I ordered Chicken Tikka and my husband ordered the Lamb wrap. We were happy with both. Everything tasted fresh and we were pleasantly full. Despite the location, the food and quality of the facility make it worth returning to. It is a shame so many people are ignorant of ethnic cuisine. I was extremely hesitant to order from a gas station restaurant but after reading some reviews, I decided to just go for it. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala combo and it was very tasty. My complaint, like other Yelpers mentioned, is that the rice and salad were very skimpy. I actually wish they skipped the 3 piece lettuce salad and just put extra rice in that compartment. While the food isn't bad, the cook and the older man who I believe doubled as the owner and cashier were very condescending and rude. My girlfriend and I ordered delivery for seven people and they forgot two orders, which no big deal, shit happens. We called them back about the mistake, and after some back-and-forth they claimed they were going to bring the missing orders. Cool, we thought, except they never came after waiting approximately an hour and a half. We called them again and this time the owner/cashier was acting belligerent, saying "What do you want this time?!?! Come here and pick them up yourselves!". So after paying the delivery fee plus a very generous tip (ironically due to how happy we had been with past orders) we had to drive there ourselves, obviously negating the entire point of delivery. None of these issues would've directly put us off from ordering from them again; it was how they treated us after we arrived. The cook, who doubled as the delivery driver, and the cranky cashier didn't believe us when we said we were missing our items that we paid for. While we were arguing about the order the cashier said some outrageously rude/inappropriate things to my girlfriend that were completely off-topic to the issue at hand. So with the delivery fee+generous tip+driving there ourselves, they still had the arrogance to further waste our time by arguing with us and insulting my girlfriend, when they should've been apologizing to us for their screw up and maybe refund us for the delivery charges. I wondered if they were just having a bad day but unfortunately many of these other Yelp reviews mentioned similar off-putting experiences. If their strategy is to be rude to their customers after making mistakes rather than owning up to it they deserve to go out of business. They lost two customers for life. read more

My new favorite for take out Indian food. Their naan is the best! It's so soft and fluffy. My go to order is the Chicken Tikka Masala. I like that it comes with a little salad that has cucumber. Their vegetable samosas are great and so is the onion bhaji pakora. I've also had the Gobi Manchurian which is a fresh tasting cauliflower dish accented by some soy sauce and cilantro. Dal Makhani is a good vegetarian dish if you like lentils. I know it's in a gas station, but I always have it delivered and all the drivers have been nice. read more

First time ordering and I was a little skeptical after reading that this place is in a gas station. The food was delivered much sooner than I expected which was a plus! I ordered the prawn vindaloo which was extremely flavorful and spicy but had the smallest shrimp I have ever seen. That dish was $15 and the shrimp were disappointing, I feel like it's a rip off! Also the portion of rice does not match the amount of sauce or meat in any of the dishes. The second dish I got was mix tandoori combo, I think the lamb, chicken and salmon were seasoned well and the portion was right. But again the amount of rice is not proportionate to the cost. If I could give this place zerooooo stars, I would! My wife and I went there because they were open till 10pm and there were 2 customers in front of us and a man running the register. We were never greeted, never handed a menu and the 2 customers in front of us said they were closed. I said they're open till 10 and the customers stood there and kept chatting with the man at register. I also have been going to Royal Kabab for years I am at least buying food here once a month today i ordered a royal kabab combo and they gave me half the usual amount of meat, and forgot a garlic Nan bread i ordered extra. After calling them and telling them they said: he told me he put it in there" It was not in there they offered to give me one for free and thats ok but the main problem is they have dropped giving people any meat portions like Namaste (also in the area) so from now until i am disappointed i will go to Prince Kabab. Wow! So happy I found this gem. My meal was comparable to Rasika or Bombay Club in DC for $11. I had the chicken Vindaloo. He warned me it was spicy, so if you don't like spice order properly. The owner or manager, an older man with grey hair, is regularly ruse to Me. Last night I waited 30 mins after the scheduled pick up time. He saw me waiting. When I asked him About my food, he asked me if the tandoori chicken and tikka masala were mine. he said laughing it's been sitting in the counter for 30 mins. This is WORTH THE MONEY (ALWAYS A GOOD MEAL-that is the way it has always been for us!!!) they gave Extra flat bread naan; and the goat was so very good and the chicken was very spicy and so soft fresh and well diligently cooked. The best way to describe the Royal Kabab is "gas station Indian" for close to fine dining prices. Let me start by saying that, when they opened, I was elated to drive by and see an Indian restaurant in my neighborhood. Sadly, it has not become the weekly Indian food haven I was hoping for. The atmosphere is cafeteria at best, although clean, it is in an open space with the gas station general store and a Subway. I don't consider this a restaurant at all. It's a quick stop with a few tables should you decide to stick around to eat. On a positive note, the people have always been friendly. We have gone twice. After the first visit for carry out we were disenchanted and decided not to return. However, they offered a Groupon a few months later, and we decided to give them a second chance. Especially considering our disappointment with the first visit mainly revolved around prices and portions. I don't know how they are listed as one dollar sign on the pricing scale. Realistically, it isn't quite as expensive as a fine dining establishment, but they serve portions like they're in the five star category! The average price for an entree at the Indian restaurants I frequent is about $13 and the portions are triple what you get here. Let me put it into perspective for you: a portion of Chicken Korma might include 4 bites of chicken in sauce, 1/2 - 3/4 cup of rice, and a small salad. To me that isn't enough for the price. I would rather drive 30 minutes to pay $3 more for a table cloth, waiter, and portions large enough to bring home a second meal. In fact, the portions I normally bring home as leftovers from other restaurants are larger than what you receive as your meal here. They just don't compare and I don't know how they justify the prices or the portions. All of that being said, the food IS decent but not particularly memorable and my main complaint is that it's too expensive for what you get. Long story short: Don't expect a restaurant atmosphere, but do expect small portions of decent (but not amazing) Indian. If you live in Gambrils/Crofton and REALLY want Indian, but don't want to drive to Baltimore or Annapolis, this will hit the spot. read more

Royal Kabab is the best Indian I have ever had at a gas station!! There, I said it. But in all seriousness, I think Royal Kabab is wonderful. Yes the prices are a bit high for the unassuming location, but the flavors and portions have never yet disappointed. I've tried quite a few things now and have developed a few favorites. The Chicken Tikka Masala is great, as is the Chana Masala, and a lamb dish that's name currently escapes me. You get quite a good bit of naan with most dishes, as well as rice and a small salad. If you haven't tried, I recommend trying the bhatura bread instead of the naan. It is so damn good! Its sweat and flakey. Almost to the point of a doughnut. I like the diveyness of this place, and I think its a wonderful way to get good Indian without all of the frills of a sit down restaurant. read more

This was my first time eating Pakistani food from a restaurant. My family ordered vegetable samosa, Chicken Vindaloo, and Chicken Tikka Masala to be delivered. Service was faster than expected and hot & fresh!!! Even the bread was hot and fresh! Every bite was full of delicious flavor. My partner is very sensitive to spice, however she was able to enjoy the Chicken Tikka Masala. Very impressed and I will definitely order again. I highly recommend this place. Inside the gas station next to Subway, is the best,most authentic pakistani/indian food in the area. I say this knowing full well of the places in columbia, laurel etc. THE BEST. When I say authentic, I do mean non- Americanized, someones grandmama is in the kitchen cooking food that they would eat at home, type food. The food is spicy but not over seasoned. You get large portions of tasty curries and kabobs, lots of fresh, fragrant jasmine rice and like most people have mentioned, large hot fluffy pieces of naan.
