It seems the gyro is better than the plates. I came back for a kofta kabob and it cost me nearly $20. Nothing special, the salad was right the rice was garlicky, and did come with pita bread and a water, but that's kind of expected for $20 at a takeout place. The hummus was a little thin and I definetely tasted the tahini. Was a lot faster this time. But something just didn't convince me it was worth $20. read more

I've been to Royal Kabob twice now and I will say the portions and price are a good deal. Lots of food for a reasonable price. I like their kabobs mostly, particularly the kofta kabobs. Also tried the Zinger burger which was a fried chicken sandwich. It was decent but I would recommend sticking to the kabobs and platters. The fries I didn't care for. read more

Very mediocre food. We ordered lamb plate with falafel hummus and pita. The fake lamb meat was disgusting, I imagine it was more of dog food grade, cubes of filler and who knows what else! Hummus was made from canned chickpeas and it was awful! The falafel was made from a box mix and it was disgusting too. Nothing authentic here and don't understand how they ate rated even a 4! The guy at the counter was welcoming and friendly though it appeared he was the only person working, cooking and serving which is why everything tasted really overly processed. My sister & I came here last week to pick me up another Chicken Gyro w/o Onions $10.95. I asked the gentleman working to make sure not to put in anything spicy this time. I got home and opened it for dinner. It was packed with chopped chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, Tzatziki sauce and chopped cucumbers. After I took a few bites I started realizing there was still something spicy. The only thing we can figure out is their chicken must be marinated in something spicy, especially since the color of the chicken is actually red. When I got here, there was no kebab at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon So I asked if they had some real meat, and he said yeah, the stuff that was cut up into cubes so I thought it was cubed lamb meat, but it was some kind of cheap Kefta that had a texture like Spam. This place is SO good and the prices are comparable to Shah's (~13). I frequented Shah's a lot during my undergrad and have to say that Royal Kabob is better in my opinion. The falafel's are so good, the chicken and lamb were delicious too. Ya'll need to just come visit and give them a try. The lettuce salad they include with the platters has cucumbers and tomatoes in it which doesn't seem like it makes a difference but it does to me! Royal Kabob and Falafel takes over Casablanca. The interior looks very similar to that of its predecessors. It's a small location with just a few tables inside. It also joins other Falafel/Kebab places in town like Falafel Corner (with similar offerings), Sam's, Shah's and Nick's. The grilled chicken platter we ordered was very delicious. It reminds me of the platter I would get from Halal Guys but the serving size was much more plentiful (and in a rectangular dish for to-go). Rice and Chicken was also very moist. Mixed with the "white sauce", the dish was packed with flavor. The chicken, while looked red in color was not spicy. We also enjoyed a side of fries (not pictured) was a very good. We also ordered the Baklava which was very delicious as well. It wasn't too sweet and that's how we like it. Visited on a Saturday at 12:30 and they were quite busy. Although I phoned in my order I still had to wait a few minutes. They were quite apologetic and offered me a free beverage (Pepsi products and bottled water). Seems they are on the popular ordering platforms (same price) - but I opted to phone in to avoid the fees those platforms charge the restauranteur. I will be returning again! read more

Great place with great service. We went right as they opened today 1/18 and the two gentlemen who helped us were friendly. Picture doesn't show how big the portions are, but I would say if you're a light eater it's 2 meals easily or a very large meal. The Kofta was moist and well seasoned. The chicken was tender and delicious. The falafel was freshly made and immaculate. Their sauces are flavorful and their spicy sauce is akin to the spice level of siriacha/tabasco so don't worry about it burning your mouth off. The olives they added to the meat platter are out of this world and recommended if you like green olives or capers. They add the perfect amount of acid. read more

This establishment has now been open for 4 weeks, and in that time I visited twice. I have really enjoyed Everything I have ordered there and there is still much I want to try. I had a medium spicy chicken gyro, a "spicy" Falafel gyro and a Lamb dinner platter. I wished I would have taken a picture as they were all beautifully prepared as well as scrumptious. The "spicy" was just right, not painfully spicy, and the components of these dishes were all well marinated and delicious. All in all 10+/10 for food and I would give it 6 stars if I could. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the restaurant is clean and well lit. So far I have gotten a free can of soda with each of my orders. It is a "hole in the wall" in the Savemart shopping plaza on Covell next to Ding How. Limited seating mostly outdoors but easy takeout and plenty of Parking. However, I am extremely pleased to say that the food and service exceeded my expectations. My girlfriend and I purchased two plates and a side of hummus with pita bread, and let me tell you, this hummus was one of the best I've ever had. Its creamy fluffy texture mixed with the delicious chickpea blend was immaculate. By far the most superior I've had in Davis. Onto the platters, I ordered the kofta kebob and my girlfriend the chicken platter. Both were absolutely packed full. As shown in the pictures, both plates are dressed generously with sauce and fresh vegetables topped on a bed of well seasoned rice.
