This was one of the highlights of this trip. I always try to get a massage day in during a Hawaii vacation but it was my first time to go to this spa. It was convenient because it's in the same building as the Marriott Resort & Spa. The staff were friendly & the massage was healing. There's really no other way to describe it. Midori, I believe was my therapist's name & she was the perfect combination of strong but not painful. Grateful that I stumbled upon this spot. The waiting room is also really cool. There's chairs facing out to the beach and you can see the water & all the people walking around outside. It's not the most modern or updated spa but it works for what you need. I did see there was a room for bridal gowns so I think that's a service the provide as well. I will definitely come back! read more

I booked three massages for me and my son and daughter. We arrived 15 minutes early and enjoyed 80 minutes of a stone message. Very relaxing and professional staff. Very clean and welcoming location. Let me start with the good: the spa itself is clean, bright, and the receptionist was very nice. It was easy to book online and the pricing is quite decent. Now, the not so good: I have been to quite a few spas for massages, and all of them have started off with going to the locker room or a personal room to change into a robe and some spa slippers. From there, the masseuse would help you into the massage bed under the sheets to help with privacy. Here? Yeah, none of that happened. It was actually pretty jarring. After our paperwork, we (myself and my friend since we were doing massages together) were led into a small room that overlooked Waikiki, which, was very nice. However, the masseuse closed the blinds and told us they'd leave the room so we could undress and get under the sheets ourselves. We were both really thrown back by this since we weren't even given any robes and were basically asked to get naked in front of each other and lay down on the bed and adjust our sheets on top of us as we are laying face down- which is quite difficult. This was odd to us but, whatever. We did as they asked, and then as we laid down, my masseuse was playing with my hair and saying how pretty I was (which was nice, but again, I'm like basically naked and a little uncomfortable by this point) and said she needed to tie my hair. I already had a clip, but she insisted she wanted to tie my hair for me. Fine, still weird but whatever. Now before I get into the actual massage, let me tell you what we were looking forward to: 50 minute massage, 10 minute head spa, and a 15 minute dry body scrub. Okay, now let's get into it... First off, neither of the masseuse's told us what type of oil or products they were using on our bodies. Secondly, the dry body scrub was literally exfoliation gloves that were super abrasive. My masseuse kept using one hand to like LEAN on me and used her other hand to scrub my body. Not pleasant at all. The actual massage was horrendous. My masseuse did not do to one side of my body that she did the other. So for example, she'd put a lot of effort into massaging one foot for 5 mins, and the other she'd spend 30 seconds on. At one point she grabbed my arm and laid it on her leg as she was sitting down! This was again, really weird. Then she started to massage my shoulder, painfully I might add, and mind you, I asked for light pressure, and she laughs and says "oops sorry I totally forgot you wanted light pressure" when I told her it was painful... Honestly the entire massage was horrible. She was either being really rough with me or she was basically rubbing oil on my body which was not enjoyable. At one point she was just straight up rubbing oil on my butt, which was super weird too. And then the head spa... What in the world did they even do? I couldn't tell you because they didn't say what they were doing. All I know is they dunked a bunch of lemon scented oil into my hair and the scalp massage was really painful. She also was brushing my hair (why?) and then wrapped it in a plastic wrap of some sort. No idea what that was for. So in the end, this massage was absolutely horrendous. I don't know what was going on with my masseuse and why she kept complimenting me as I'm pretty much naked on the massage bed... Nor do I know why the massage itself was below mediocre. I would NOT recommend coming to this spa. My masseuse was an older asian woman. I wish I got her name, but I do NOT recommend her. Lastly, other issues were the ambiance was ruined a few times because they were dropping things in the room, and my masseuse was breathing very heavy into my ear at times and it just wasn't pleasant. We booked two treatments during our vacation--a 50-minute Firm Facial (anti-aging) and a 50-minute Lomi Lomi massage. Emma, who helped us book them, was friendly and accommodating in timing our appointments at the same time. Both treatments were excellent. The aesthetician gave an amazing facial massage that made my skin look so much brighter. She also used a cool stone roller over the mask that felt totally refreshing. I loved it! My adult son had the massage and said he almost fell asleep it was so relaxing. He said he only wished he would have booked the 80-minute option. We would definitely go back. read more

Wanting to tie a nice bow to the end of my vacation, and also to prime my face before hopping on the plane of recycled air, I scheduled a facial at my hotel for the morning of my departure. I had only scheduled it the day before, and when I inquired, there was a lot of unnecessary nervous frenzy about the request, which culminated into more phone calls than were necessary about the status of the appointment. You're a spa; you're supposed to be calm. I wanted to let the receptionist know to take some deep calming breaths. Anyway, I ended up getting the appointment, but I don't know if I got someone on the D-team because it was beyond subpar. Like still-in-beauty-school subpar. I was super disappointed during the service, and only tipped 15%, as I figured I was already paying way more for something that was only worth maybe $35-45. If you were going to find a last minute pinch hitter whom I suspect was probably not even an employee of the spa, I would have rather been told that there were no more appointments available.... Or if this was the typical service, then you definitely want to look elsewhere for your facial....! read more

I was pleasantly surprised to discover this was a "Japanese" spa. I love everything the Japanese do, because 9.5 times out of 10, they're going to do it well. I had a Stress-Fix massage from Irina and it was exactly what I needed. I asked for medium pressure, and even though she bordered on deep tissue massage, it was the good kind of hurt. Lol. I left there feeling super relaxed. Upon check-in you will be taken over to a small room and seated to fill out your forms an offered a refreshment. Shortly after, you can stop to use the restroom before your treatment. The spa itself could probably use a slight facelift, but I didn't mind it at all since the massage experience itself was the main attraction. They use Aveda products and there is no hard sell. Plenty of product at checkout though if you do want to pick some up. If you're not a guest at the Marriott, they do validate parking. I'd definitely come back here. read more

Went here for Christmas vacation. Was not able to really enjoy the massage because of the outside noise. Although it's not the company's fault they really need more of a sound proof room. During the entire massage all I heard was loud music playing from the outside. Very annoying. In the middle of the massage we asked about it, they said yea it just happens and afterwards all they offer was these two small sample bottles. Wouldn't recommend for relaxing. read more

My brother and SIL got me a massage here for my birthday in Jan 2021. After a morning of wiping out trying to "surf," a massage sounded heavenly. Checking in was a breeze, the place was clean, the therapist was friendly.. But the massage was one of, if not, the worst massages I've ever received. I honestly don't know if she knew what she was doing. All the knots I had formed from surfing and weeks of stress were not massaged/rubbed out. If anything, I left in even more discomfort. Discovered this Japanese spa because I needed an urgent wax session! I was very pleasantly surprised by the service. The place is a little hard to find. When I got lost i called in, they were super friendly and patiently gave me detailed directions. Hiromi did my wax session. She was very polite and attentive to details. It felt a little rushed- very in and out. I personally did not enjoy the massage as the pressure was too rough and the oil left you feeling a little greasy. My boyfriend and I got a couples massage and it was very inconsistent. We seemed to get two totally different massages. After a long day of work, what better way to enjoy paradise than by having a relaxing massage.... anywhere other than here... I have to say it was quite possibly the oddest, most disappointing massage I have ever had. The good - I arrived early & got to sit & watch the sun go down! Therapist was kind, but I was in a room all the way in the back and had the privilege of listening to continued toilet flushes from the locker room. Therapist's protocol was all over the place & not consisted at all. She bolstered my feet when I was face down, yet never put the bolster under my knees when I turned over. She stopped halfway through and washed her hands - weird. She never turned the lights down, so certainly didn't set the mood for me to relax. I felt so completely unrelaxed when all was said and done. Checking out, the gal at reception asked how it was, I told her I was disappointed and all she could do was tell me how much I owed. I had booked a couples massage about two weeks before the visit. I had no difficulties navigating through the website or booking the appointment on the phone. Because I have a local ID, I was told I could show it at checkout to get 20% off as a kama'aina special. The day of the visit, we checked in without a problem and were seated in the leather lounging chairs with some fresh ice water. The people-watching from this window is magnificent and I could sit in that chair all day. The massage itself was okay, but I expected more for the price. Although my other half loved his massage, my treatment wasn't as stellar. The masseuse did not massage in a symmetrical fashion and completely missed massaging my left hand. She also accidentally smacked me in the face as she was turning at the end of the massage, although she apologized profusely. I did enjoy the rosemary mint oil. The one element that drove me crazy throughout the massage is that they played the same piano instrumental song on repeat. The. Whole. Time. After hearing the song restart for the fifth time, I couldn't focus on anything else. In an age where one can access millions of songs with just a few clicks, why is the same song playing on repeat? After the massage was over, we returned to our people-watching perch for more water before checking out. As a whole, I would return to the spa, but I would request a different masseuse. If that same song is playing on repeat, I'd ask for it to be turned off, too. read more

My first spa day ever and I'm happy that I chose them! When you get in they offer you hot tea, iced tea, or water. I did the Tulasara Bright Facial for 50 minutes and waxing my eyebrows for about 20 minutes. With tip, I paid around $200 for everything. The facial included a massage on my shoulders and my legs, which was so nice! It was honestly really nice to be able to relax after staying up super late because of school. The spa is super convenient, and is next to Kuhio Beach Grill. They have weekly promos so always ask what they are offering. read more

Excellent massage. I booked a deep tissue massage in the morning for later that afternoon. I was offered tea, and while I wasn't shown to the locker room, they do have a small room with bathrobes. (The locker room also has a shower, bath products, and hair products/blow dryer.) Yoko used a good amount of pressure although the massage was not really as intense as I'm used to. She did include many luxe touches, such as a foot massage with a hot towel wrap, a scalp massage, and some aromatherapy. It was a really nice experience and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep a few times. Service: Massage (forget the actual style) Date: 9/14/16 My Situation: Writing this review has been on my to do list since I got back from my Hawaii trip nearly three months ago. At some point during my stay I did something to my back and it became difficult to sit/walk. I knew I needed to get it worked on before I had a long flight back to California so I found the nearest (well reviewed) spa to my hotel. I say all of this to say it was a last minute and very necessary massage. Customer Service: I called first thing in the morning when I planned to go in and spoke with the amazing Tim. He was super sweet in helping me identify the best service for me (which happened to be the cheaper one). High Five for saving a few bucks. Tim's customer service was so on point when I called and arrived for my appointment. Tim and all of the staff I encountered were super kind and attentive. Massage: Yuka was my massage therapist. She was absolutely amazing. My lower back was very tender so she paid close attention to that area but the over all massage was perfectly relaxing and helpful. I equate this to Yuka's initial assessment and her checking in throughout the session. If/when I am ever back in Honolulu, I will definitely be making an appointment to see Yuka, even if I'm not in crazy back pain. I flew out the next day and I had zero trouble with my back.
