Expensive pair of Men's pants were taken to Royal dry cleaners in New Paltz to be shortened and dry cleaned. The person working there could not find the pants and we have tried many times to pick them up But the pants have not been found. My husband wants the pants returned to him OR A SETTLEMENT MADE. We tried to contact the owner without any success. A man who owns the business has other dry cleaning establishments in the area . I called and spoke to the owner two times and explained about the missing expensive Brooks Brother's pants and HE SAID someone would call the next day. After NO CALL came I called the cleaners and the phone was disconnected.!!!! Is this guy a crook and shady business man? This is Outragious. Where are the pants??? We reside at Woodland Pond, a senior community in New Paltz and I'm quite sure other residents use the laundry services of Royal Cleaners. If i could give zero i would. Not only are they thieves and charge twice the amount i used to pay in Manhattan, I think they lie and don't actually dry clean. They ruined our clothes and we're sure that they just threw them in the wash and then ironed. I also brought a comforter here and not only does it smell not fresh but they put it in someone elses old comforter bag not even nicely hung in plastic. Gross. Avoid! read more

Well this is a first. I bring a dry-clean only shirt in for cleaning -- no stains, no damage. I pick it up a week later and there is extensive staining on the top third of the shirt. Looks like it was soaked in a liquid and never properly cleaned it extracted. I return during a weekend to drop it off for correction. They agree to reclean the garment. I return the following weekend to find it is still covered in stains. I ask for a refund and no further service. Owner tells employee on the phone that I have to come in on Monday when she's there. I tell them I want my money back and that I'm never returning there again. Owner replies that she didn't ask me to come in on Monday, but that she will call me. (Blatant lie, the employee was repeating what she said word for word). I'll bring my dry cleaning to the city, pay less, have a 24 hour turn-around and no back and forth. read more

I have had mixed results here...they have done some wonderful cleaning and tailoring, and are always friendly. But they did not complete a sewing job fully and I paid the regular price. Then, for another sewing job, they quoted two different prices and the work was decent but noticeable. I like the convenient location, the nice employees, but the work is hit or miss. I had a bunch of couch and chair slipcovers cleaned at Royal King. First of all, they did a beautiful job with the items. Secondly, when we thought an item was lost (and it ended up being my mistake, not theirs) Donna was so incredibly kind and took full responsibility for getting me a new slipcover if we were not able to find it. Donna stayed in constant contact with me during the search and was thoughtful and professional during every interaction. This is a business that prides itself on doing the right thing and for me, their work was A+. I would highly recommend Royal King! read more

I would love to give 0 stars but that is not an option. After bringing and paying for my expensive leather jacket to be cleaned, which they ship to a specialist, I get it returned to me with no hood attached and zipper broken off. Spoke with manager and she agreed to fix for free. When I go to pick up my fixed jacket, I am told I did not pay, which I know I did and provided proof from my Credit card statement. I leave store and clerk chases me to my car threatening to call police for "stealing my jacket". NEVER use these people, this is the worst way to do business. read more

This is the best dry cleaners around! I highly recommend them for any individual or business for all drycleaning and / or tailoring/ alteration needs. I went to see the tailor at 5pm on a Friday night for an emergency suit tailor job that I needed for the wedding I was going to the next day (sleeves shortened on jacket, Jacket taken in, pants hemmed and tapered) and he had it done by 7pm that night! I despise the fact they make you pay for your dry cleaning when you drop off. If there was another place in New Paltz to take my dry cleaning, I would gladly go there, even if I had to pay more. Update: I now take my cleaners to a place outside of New Paltz, close to my work. My clothes are cleaned on the premises and they do not make me pay for their services before they do any of the cleaning. That's how it should be done. read more

I went to pick up our dry cleaning and lo and behold, the store front sat vacant with a sign on the door saying they had closed and I could pick up my items in New Paltz (an inconvenient hour drive for me). When they first opened there doors, I met the friendly owner and felt hopeful that we would have a convenient albeit pricey dry cleaning option in town. After the owner installed staff, the whole place went down hill. The staff were rude, did the minimum amount of work, and shirts often came back with wrinkles. A courtesy phone call altering me to the closing would have been considerate. read more

After two months, a second round of "cleaning" and weeks of airing the smell still lingers. The owner refused to compensate me for the rugs because I rented a steam cleaner and attempted to get the smell out myself after he was unable to. Additionally one of the rugs came back 3 inches shorter and misshapen--still awaiting the final decision on that! If I could give this cleaners a negative star I would! Completely destroyed multiple items. One in particular was a $400 dress! Not only was the dress still dirty on the bottom they completely destroyed all the stitching on the top. I even told the girl at the counter beforehand it was extremely delicate. She assured me they would 'hand wash' it. When I picked it up it was destroyed! And if I hadn't looked at it before I left they would have never said anything! Now I've been trying to get. Is resolved for months. I had to fight to get my money back. And forget about replacing the dress they flat out said no. They told me their seamstress would fix it, well guess what 10 months later and they still have not! The women once again was clueless, even thought I've talked to her multiple times. Rude customer service. They also lost a piece of clothing of mine. They said they were "re-cleaning it." I heard the lady with blonde hair in the back say "we will find it." A few days later I finally got my missing piece of clothing. On another occasion they discriminated against the teenager in front of me. They were telling him he has to pay now when they gave me a choice to pay at pick up. I thought it was very rude. I tried to give them a fair chance, but they are not a good business. I found a different Cleaners thankfully. It's a few extra minutes from me but it's well worth it. There is actually two in Highland (next town over) and another one in New Paltz. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE, EVER! If it were possible to leave a "no star" rating then I would. Today's experience will result in a small claims court. Services that were paid for and not performed (hemming a pair of suit trousers) are now being denied by the shop that services paid for were actually for the trousers taken out of their dry cleaning bag with the original receipt stating when I returned the trousers today for the work to be finished. On top of this, as the trousers have a liner, the shop would like to charge an additional fee for hemming the liner (understood, but should have been charged to begin with, and performed), oh but wait, they just called me to say that they don't think the original ticket and the charge I've already paid to have pants hemmed (15.99) is for the trousers in question. REALLY !!!?!??!?! Going back to the first time I dropped off the trousers to be hemmed at Royal Whatever (where they look up customers by phone number) with a clear dialogue and confirmation that said pants would be hemmed by X because I needed to pick them up on my way to the airport to catch a flight to attend a friend's funeral. I was assured - they would be done 2 days before X. Guess what - on X for pick up - guess who doesn't have the trousers ready and who neglected to call to say that the seamster was sick this week. And those were also the trousers I was wearing to the funeral, but travel sweats ending up being my only resort. I guess they don't understand that a phone number actually works as a communication tool to inform customers, as well as a data base record for the customer base at the clerk's counter. Since the funeral experience I have found an honest shop to do business with, albeit out of my way, the price RK charges and the attitude don't warrant the convenience. Why did I take my unhemmed trousers back today? Because I tried on that suit for an upcoming meeting next week to find that the trousers were never hemmed AT ALL, despite the service I paid for. As the ticket was still attached to the suit - in the dry cleaning bag, on a ROYAL DC hanger, with the ticket stapled to the plastic - showing the hem charge and detailed hem length - it's all right there, plain English, no brainer - I'll take the pants back - let them finish the job with this obvious proof. Mr H., the seamster, clearly stated today that they were never hemmed at all and have original factory stitching. But oh wait - we forgot to charge you for the liner so that will be 6 bucks when you come back (how much is my inconvenience worth??). But the best part is when they called to tell me that it will be $21.99 because they don't think that the ticket I present goes with the unheeded pants. Totally unbelievable, I am livid. On principal alone. I guess the owner's philosophy takes into account how a $6 fee can turn into negative review, bad social media, small claim, Better Business Bureau claim, and just bad karma all around. read more
