I'm not sure why this liquor store has a lower rating than others in the area. Its nice, clean, and big. Would you rather go to a dirty corner store or a clean one? Large selection beyond the normal selection of bud light etc. The cashiers (especially Simon) have always been polite to me. It's about 2 miles from me but I'd rather go here and get something good instead of what's at 7-11. This place needs more good reviews. read more

I've been going here since I was about 7-8 and I'm now 27. Even though I moved away, I still stop by before visiting my parents and I bring them some snack, wine or beer. This place is under new management, and I haven't had much experiences with the new team yet so this review is 100% based off of my experiences in the last two decades. The family that owned it before did an AMAZING job, the $.50 surcharge wasn't an inconvenience because I always loved shopping here more than the 7-11 across the street. It felt personal at Royal Market and I hope it continues under the new management. The old owners would always welcome each customer and remember everyone. "Hola amigo/a!" was a common phrase they spoke to my parents and they were also so genuine and friendly. They would teach my parents some phrases in their native language and they would learn some Spanish in return, super cute and fun. I think lots of people came for the personality the store and it's management had, and even though the management is new and the target audience seems to have shifted to the college crowd, I hope the new owners don't forget the families and old timers that used to shop there too. This place is a rip off to people who like bourbon. Talking to one of the cashiers he explained to me that they price their bourbon according to the secondary market. They charge $70 for a bottle of Eagle Rare that is $30 and can be found in places like Target. To anyone who is into bourbon I recommend going to BevMo or even driving out to Cypress Craft Beer where they won't charge you $200 for a bottle of Blanton's but $70. read more

I selected Royal Market Liquor as my vendor through the Minibar delivery app. I selected a Gunwhale Coco Hazy DIPA. I was contacted 30 minutes later and notified that the uber expensive (24.99) Gunwhale I had ordered was not available. However they would provide me with a comparable DIPA at no additional cost. Finally when the other beer election has arrived at my buddy's residence in Yorba Linda it was 1:45 after I had ordered it. Not very excited about how late the order was delivered, or the fact that they didn't have my already expensive beer I ordered to start that was clearly labeled in stock on the menu. read more

This store was marginal at best. Poor wine selection, poor wine re-stocking. Well, they were recently sold. Now, the new owner(s) open later, the shelves are becoming depleted, and it is so dirty and gross. Plus, they got rid of the former employees who kept it going for many years. They have a good selection and plenty of options to satisfy just about anyone. My biggest complaint and the reason i probably won't regularly shop here is that only about 20% of the items are marked with prices. It makes it VERY hard to shop. There are so many variations in wine and craft beer and spirits. You can have one bottle that is $100 and another that is $7. How are you supposed to know? Go to the counter and have them scan them all and take what you want? That's annoying. The stuff that was marked seemed like it had reasonable prices especially for a liquor store but not the lowest prices to the large warehouse distributors. I would probably go here often but without prices marked, it will probably be rare that i visit. read more

This is my favorite liquor mart/specialty and craft liquor store in the city. First, it is under new management so all of the older poor reviews do not apply to the current customer experience of this store! And people who came in writing petty reviews during their renovations need to come back again because you can't pass judgment on a work in progress. Simon is usually the cashier on duty when we make our frequent visits and one of the new proud owners of Royal Market Liquor. He is always helpful in making recommendations. They have a neat hidden walk-in craft beer fridge section blink and you miss it in the corner between beers and wines. Honestly, the 7-11 across the street is BASIC compared to what they have in stock here. We always discover new great beers and wines. Their snack foods section is YAS so Amazing tons of gummies, mixed nuts, jerkey, chips, chocolate, candy for those late night cravings. We love having them in the neighborhood - they have made superb choices in how they run the business and have really cleaned up this corner that used to be kinda sketchy and shady (if you know, you know). We have lived within walking distance of this store for a few years now and it's the best place to grab a nice wine to pair with dinner or a brew to get us through the day.
