I have been to Royal Nails a few times and I would say I've enjoyed my experience each time and it became my go-to place for mani/pedi. The place is very clean, I love the relaxing music, and the team is very kind. After today's visit I'll probably be looking for a new place to go. I should have known when there were only two employees, but I went against my better judgment. When I finally got to sit down and experience a pedicure, I was rushed in what usually takes 40- 45 minutes, to what became an express pedicure of 20 minutes. Im glad I read the last review because i decided to try this nail salon and I think I have finally found the one for me in the Midlothian area. First of all the place is clean and decorated nice. The ambiance id first class!!!! I got a pedicure and fill and paid $30..... i was impressed with the hot stone massage for a basic pedicure. i recently moved to the area and this is my 6th nail salon and i finally found the one. Michael was my nail tech and he was awesome. I will be making an appointment in @ 2 weeks. He made sure my nails were the way I wanted them and explained the whole process along the way as to not mess them up. He even went to the extent of explaining what his employees were talking about when they were speaking a different language when he needed not too, but wanted to make sure as a customer I was comfortable. This place is an unfortunate excuse for a nail salon. I was begged to get a pedicure, when I barely had time for a quick manicure. The technician wanted me to get a gel/shellac mani and I had to decline over and over again. And then when I was ready to pay and leave she wouldn't let me go. She wanted me to go through 5 drying cycles, at which point I didn't care about the mani anymore and I insisted that I pay and go. The interior is outdated and the staff are rude. It does not seem sanitary when the tech is barefoot. I will never return. read more

I have gone here for several years but need to find a new place. It has become dated and dirty. Several other reviewers complained about the staff being rude but that hasn't been my experience- the ladies are very nice but I get the feeling they are just phoning it in. The need to close down for two weeks to paint and clean!! It has become the opposite of a spa atmosphere. The last time I was there they had the TV on, the radio on, a little girl running around, and some customer talking on her cell phone loudly the whole time I was there. I had a manicure and the gentleman used a Dremel on my cuticles and ruined my nails. My nails now have to grow out in order to get rid of the divot he made in my fingernails. Walked in today for a gel polish change. The job was rushed and done very sloppily. I was not given time to select a color or assisted in finding the specific one I wanted--which I asked about and knew they had last time I came in. My nail tech didn't ask if I wanted my nails cut down or what shape I wanted. She only applied 2 coats of a color that really needed 3. I left with sloppy, uneven color that's transluscent in some areas, cotton ball stuck to my fingers and polish, and polish all over my nail beds and even on the bottoms of my fingers (how?!). I didn't even have a chance to ask the tech to fix what she'd done as she disappeared before the uv lights were even off on the last cycle. Went in for a powder (SNS) manicure and was told they can do that service. The girl used the powder to dip my nails but the remainder of the manicure was completed like a gel/shellac manicure!!! I could see daylight thru my nails when I held them up!!! With a real powder manicure you can't see thru them!!! The girls all said they knew what they were doing!!! Very poor pedicure given. I receive pedicures on a bi weekly basis and the attendant I had was very lazy. I paid 30.00 for a deluxe pedi and decided to not do my mani. She barely cut my cuticles,barely scrubbed my feet. I had to ask her to re scrub and re cut my cuticles because they're were sloppily unkept. I had to tell her customarily you don't scrub a dry foot with a dry pumice. Ouch!! No common sense. It seemed as if what I told her was crazy to her! read more

Having to travel for work can definitely have it's pros and cons. One huge con is when your nails break and your are across the country from your trusted nail gal!! Well thank goodness for Royal nails! I was at one of our offices and snap.... There flew my beautiful manicured nail. Low and behold there was a nail shop a few doors down. But can they be trusted??? I had to take a chance. I had a big meeting the next day and couldn't present with ghetto nail. Very typical nail shop. Walked in and felt like I was home. Except that I had to warm up from below 20 weather. To make a long story short I loved the results. Very dainty and natural looking. It is nice to know that I have a nail shop to rely on when I am at my home away from home VA. Not only that but they were very quick and the price was reasonable. I am one lucky girl :) read more
