Kids pancake and kids eggs bacon and fruit with toast
    Kasi M.

Had an amazing breakfast and experience in here today with our family. The bananas foster French toast was superb but I think it could use a little more whip cream to accompany it. The kids breakfast were a great price for a great size. $8 for two well rounded breakfasts. Our waitress was kind and attentive. We ate outside despite the construction it was a gorgeous day with ample seating. Highly recommend and we will return'

Royal continues to be one of my favorite spots in Old Town Alexandria for a great meal and an inviting atmosphere. The space is cozy, chic, and perfect for everything from a date night to catching up with friends. On this visit, I tried their new Happy Meal for Two, which includes caviar, white BBQ sauce, cacio e pepe fries, and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label for $99. It's a fun, elevated take on a classic that makes for a unique shared dining experience. A few other standouts were the Lobster Spaghetti Diavola, which featured tender Maine lobster with fresh spaghetti, Calabrian peppers, blistered tomatoes, basil, and lemon, and the Royal Smash Burger with double smashed patties, white Cooper cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, and secret sauce. If you visit during happy hour, the smash burger is an even better value at just $10 until 7 PM. For dessert, don't skip the Double Chocolate Layer Cake--it's rich, decadent, and pairs perfectly with the Wake Me Up Espresso Martini. If you're looking for an elevated dining experience in Old Town Alexandria with delicious food, creative cocktails, and a warm, stylish ambiance, Royal is definitely worth adding to your list.

My husband and I have become regulars at Royal's happy hour, and it's easy to see why. The recent renovations gave the restaurant a fresh, modern feel, and the atmosphere is welcoming whether you're meeting friends, on a date, or just grabbing a drink after work. * Happy Hour: Daily, 3-7 PM * Free parking lot and street parking * Indoor and outdoor seating * Clean restaurant with a moderate noise level * Friendly, attentive staff The happy hour is one of the best values around. Don't miss the $10 Smashburger and fries or the deviled eggs. The drink specials are just as good, especially the Frozen Espresso Martini, Frozen Strawberry Margarita, $8 Smoked Old Fashioned, and $5 beers. Service has been outstanding every visit. The staff is always welcoming and attentive, which is one of the reasons we keep coming back. If you're looking for a great happy hour with quality food, creative drinks, and excellent service, Royal is definitely worth checking out.

Remnants of a Strawberry Guava margarita

Just stopped in for a quick bite to eat. I'd seen a social media post about this fairly new restaurant and was excited to check it out. The staff is very friendly and Joyce, the bartender, is excellent. The bar area is very comfortable and conducive for making new friends. Strawberry-guava margarita - absolutely delicious! Nice balance is sweet and sour and the guava flavor was phenomenal. Tuna poke tacos - these have to be the absolute smallest tacos I've ever seen in my life and, for $17, I was a bit taken aback. I have to say though they were delicious and, shockingly, fairly filling. Definitely worth a visit, if you're in the area!

BLOODY MARY and BANANAS FOSTER FRENCH TOAST daiquiri.

Jalapeño cornbread and French toast banana fosters daiquiri!!! Enough said! Food was delicious. I had a basic omelet followed by the banana foster daiquiri and there was absolutely nothing basic about it. My food order was very good but the cornbread and cocktails deserve an honorable mention. If you're in N.VA definitely stop in. If Joyce is behind the bar you are winning!! She's just as fabulous as her cocktail crafting skills. 10/10 I do recommend lol.

If you go here get the oatmeal pancakes. I tried a friends, and they were off the charts. The chicken and waffles had chorizo gravy and honey and was really good too. My eggs for my breakfast were cooked wrong, so maybe don't get eggs unless you want them over easy. Their coffee wasn't great either. The biscuit was fluffy and filling too. Our server was great for a big group during brunch hour, we were never left looking for him or wanting anything. It is super cute. Their outdoors is covered if it's raining or cold and they have flowers all over. It was very good, and a good price as well.

Not sure why the reviews are so low! We were in town visiting my family, and we made a reservation for 8:30pm. The restaurant has a cozy, living room-esque vibe to it. Our server, Antoine, was super nice and gave us lots of recommendations. We had been traveling for a long time, so we both just opted for a burger and fries. The flavors were really good and the portions were generous. The restaurant was pretty empty but it was pretty late for dinner. I'm imagining the place is hopping for brunch. I'd definitely go back!!

Nice restaurant with a large variety of options on the menu. Went for dinner and it's got a nice romantic ambiance, low lit and moody bar space this is a great date night spot. Food was fresh and flavorful, they're now part of Alexandria Restaurant Partners so I do feel like there's a high baseline for quality that is met here. Servers and staff were friendly and attentive!

They have the best cup of coffee (apparently not included in the price of the weekend buffet)!

This once Old Town institution is obviously under new management or the original owner went off the deep end. I think it's new management because the changes to the place are stark and NOT for the better! We were welcomed with the words that grate on me like nails on a blackboard! "Do you have reservations?" NO, we've never needed reservations in the past, and I don't see lines of people trying to get a seat here. Literally, the dining room was half empty when we walked in, asking for a table for 3. The new menu is a "my way or the highway" set of limiting choices, and it's clear from the waiter, that there are NO SUBSTITUTIONS! Oh, and if you want TOAST with your omelette (and there are only two omelette options on their brunch menu), you'll have to bring your own toast (I'm joking, but wouldn't it be funny if you did bring your own toast?). Overall, the food was nothing to write home about. I had the western omelette with smoked cheddar cheese and NO TOAST! Remember, oh, and remember, NO SUBSTITUTIONS so it's smoked cheddar or NO cheese at all! I ordered a side of "thick cut bacon" and even it was overly seasoned and then undercooked. Just the way nobody in their right mind would like it! Except maybe the #%@& FLIES that must have made their way into the dining room from the outdoor dining area that was recently added. Oh, and for four slices of bacon they charge $9. I've said this before and I'll repeat it in my own defense. I hate leaving bad reviews and I try desperately to keep an open mind when restaurants chance course, but I don't like this new restaurant. I don't like their pompous attitude and the limiting menu and the taste of the most basic things. Their coffee for example is as offensive as the over-seasoned bacon and the "smoked cheddar" in their pretentious western omelette! I'm not going here again!

We thought it would be crowded and parking scarce but came on a Sunday night and found it not so. The table was set with live flowers. Our server was attentive and the management team took time to check on the quality of everything. It was very good. My Cuban sandwich was probably had the easiest thing to make at the table, other than the kids grilled cheese, but the meat was delicious and pickle juicy. The grilled cheese was too big for a kid's meal so, I helped out with that too and found it excellent. The night came earlier than we desired, it being daylight savings and the clocks set forward an hour, but at least I got a picture of the night ambiance.

In town to visit my son and to my google surprise it recommended Royal Restaurant. Right across from the Sheraton, a grocery tore and in a walkable neighborhood making it an ideal location for locals and visitors. Antoine our server was warm, welcoming and attentive. Decor gave a cozy at home feel. Jalapeño corn bread was tasty as was the mushroom ravioli! I say go check them out!

I pretty much get shrimp & grits 80% of the time when I go to brunch, so I've eaten my fair share of S&G. When I say that these were easily one of the bestttttt s&g I've had, I'm not exaggerating. Not only did they give a generous portion of shrimp and sausage, but the combination of flavors of the Cajun seasoning, cream, and corn was just perfect. It wasn't too spicy, or heavy, or thick/thin consistency. This dish was the epitome of comfort food without the heaviness. We also got the steak and eggs and blueberry pancakes which were huge and fluffy with the XL berries. We will definitely be back. Also noticed a dog happy hour with salmon/beef dishes for the furry friends. Amazing. Catch me on the patio when it's a bit warmer out!

Went for dinner with colleagues. Very impressed with the atmosphere, service & food. We were brought a deliver egg each in the house. The striped bass dinner was amazing. Highly recommend--favorite dinner while visiting Alexandria.

Fried cauliflower and curried chickpea sause over pilaf rice. Unique and delicious!

The breakfast was ok. Toast was perfect, omelette was small and looked like two egg patties. Potatoes were good. Service was fast

Since we probably would only go weekends for an hour or two, I'm glad there are the options for one time pay or multi hour passes for future use. Since we weren't sure if we'd be back, we gave it a try for one hour. Prices may change but our first time was $18 per child per hour. This may seem high for only one hour, but my kids had fun and my hour without worrying about them or being interrupted was very productive so it was worth it. Staff are friendly. I only wished they had gluten free options for the kiddos to enjoy after their play. Guess we can bring our own next time! :)
