I have to be honest Vinny knows my hair and he gets it cut right every time! Vinny is a great guy and knows his trade very well. He even cut my wife's hair and she loved it. Vinny's the man! Been going on a year seeing Vinh every month or so. In that year, Vinh has exceeded every expectation of what I want from a barber: -consistent quality (probably increasing really) -reasonable prices (he hasn't raised prices at all amidst record-setting inflation) -great conversation (he remembers the most minute details about me and makes my cut breeze by) -availability (Vinh has never, not fitted me in on whatever day I want. He hustles HARD.) I also will note that Vinh knows his craft exceptionally well. I once made the mistake of seeing a barber out in the East Bay when I was there and was pressed for time. Vinh is so incredibly talented that he walked me through the mistakes that barber made when he cut my hair about a month prior--Vinh was spot on because I noticed those mistakes a month earlier, and my hair had grown out to reflect those mistakes. If you want to look good, do it at a good price, and get to know a good, honest dude, the Mane Place is the place for you. read more

I've gone to many barbers/salons in the South Bay, over decades. Mane Place is the best haircut I've ever had! My understanding is, at present, this is a one man shop, owner operated (Vinh). I've only ever gone as a walk-in. But, I've never had to wait through more than one other customer. Some customers know what clipper number they get, they know all the barber shop terminology for what kind of cut they want. I just describe to Vinh, in everyday language what I want and that's how he cuts it. In other shops, I've felt like saying what I want is just an exercise and you get what you get. Honestly, I wish he'd charge more for a haircut. At $25 a cut, he's less expensive than his competition, while giving a far superior haircut. He is open all the time and has rent to pay. I want Mane Place to stay in business and for Vinh to get some days off, so he doesn't burn out. So, when you go, please give him a fat tip. read more

This review is in regards to the "service" part of the transaction Haircut was good The issue was after the haircut..I paid the Filipino guy (not sure if there's more barbers) but at the time there was only one person cutting hair. I paid him with a $100 And he gave me change back and without me Counting my change I proceeded to give him a 5 dollar tip being a good customer As I walk out I'm counting my change and noticed that I only had 60 dollars instead of 65 (the haircut was 30 and I only knew because I heard the customer before me say it) I march back into the barbershop and confront him about him taking 5 extra dollars without my consent Entitle prick he took his "tip" with out my permission He just says sorry and gives it back He also said nothing when I gave him more that's the sad part Entitled people thinking they deserve a tip and even more taking it without permission Lost a customer because of that Go here if you want to get robbed read more

Vinh purchased Mane Place Barber in the midst of a pandemic and has gone to great lengths to revamp the little shop with the premier location on Curtner ave. He used quarantine as an opportunity to pour time, and love, into his new location. He clearly cares deeply about his business and has done a wonderful job of giving the barber shop a fresh new feel. In much the same way that he updated the existing Barber shop, the aesthetic and ambiance of the hair salon plays on putting a new polish on an old industry. Vinh has leaned into the classic look and colors of a Barber Shop, but elevated the space with bold walls, live plants and some tasteful street art. Vinh is a a great barber and conversationalist. He is easy going, quick to smile and endlessly optimistic. His clients immediately feel at ease in his care and can trust him to take care of their hair and beards. Vinh was able to convince my fiance to ditch his high school haircut (think 2003 buzz cut with bangs or some garbage) for a new look, something that I had been working on for 10 years, and for that I will always be grateful!
