Her treatment of a beloved first horse, I had to sell during hard times, absolutely cruel, unnecessary and unforgivable. Why then did I sell to her, given my experience as a junior? I didn't. The trainer I used at the time, didn't tell me he had sold my horse to her until after he completed the deal and she hauled the horse away. I would NEVER have approved the sale. It leaves me teary-eyed DECADES later. She ran him into the ground as a lesson horse; then, when he became unsound...I know he suffered and died in a hellish place, aka slaughter house, with a check sent to her afterwards. My heart scarred forever! Now, as a much acclaimed, highly skilled rider who has logged many positive experiences with top-tier trainers in three states, I can only reflect back on what a mistake it was to ever step into the arena with her. Having trained in THREE different states over the course of DECADES, in my opinion and based on my experiences, I can say she is by far the worst on many levels. Furthermore, while some may say, "She's been in business for a while." The truth is most people don't carefully thoroughly vet their horse trainer/teacher choice. There's a certain assumption that ALL horse professionals are trustworthy, humane, kind and caring. Nope. There's a profit to be made from that naive mindset. Shop around for lessons, horse training and horses.

I witnessed horses being abused in "training" at Solstice Farms. For ex, the so-called "trainer"…read more repeatedly and violently yanked on a horse's mouth one day, which is obviously counter-productive for training dressage horse. The old saying, "Abuse begins where knowledge ends," is applicable here. I was there when a horse put his eye out in his stall. The stable owner (Marie Morgan) did not ensure that the stalls were safe. Another horse died, but I do not know the circumstances surrounding that occurrence. When my horse got scraped up in her stall, the owner could not have cared less, and seemed more annoyed that I was concerned about my horse's welfare. One evening, I went to check on my horse, and Ms. Morgan threatened to call the police on me for "trespass," even though I was a paying boarder. One day, Ms. Morgan decided to put rocks in the barn aisle, which could have caused stone bruises. She left them there for months. Another act of high strangeness was when she put stalls in the covered dressage arena - an arena that was supposed to be available to boarders for riding. When I asked how long they were going to be there, she informed me that I had to leave her barn (a breach of contract). I would not recommend boarding or training at Solstice Farms. I do not think it is a safe environment for horse or rider.

So a little over a year ago, I started bike shopping. I had the intentions of completing the MS150…read moresince everyone at work had been doing it for years. I went out bought a bike, started searching for paths to ride on, enrolled in strictly biking events, and even some duathlons. The training started to trickle off after the live strong challenge in Austin due to the fact that I crashed multiple times during that ride. The next thing you know it was spring and the bike ride I had been waiting for was just around the corner. I had to hurry to raise 400+ dollars so that I could ride. It was the morning of, I had to wake up at 4 am. Get ready and head out on to Katy to begin my 2 day adventure. The start was drizzling a bit but nothing too bad. The start commenced with small waves at a time, very organized. The first day was about 90 miles or so. We stopped in La Grange where we would spend the night. The next morning would start the 60 miles of hills. I had pushed it too hard the first day and my knees were done for the 2nd day. Overall, this bike ride is very organized and for a great cause. I would just recommend anyone who plans on doing it to train, train, and train some more. Don't let this be your first ride as you will feel the pain when you're done. TRUST ME! Would I do it again? NO. Should you do it just once? YES!

My significant other wanted to take English classes and she wanted to give this School a try…read moreunfortunately it was a terrible experience and since I covered the classes she asked me to write this. She does not speak English at all so she was told to take the first level for students like her. We spent about $1150 which included 6 books they asked us to buy. This is what happened My girlfriend said the instructor spent hours talking and that she only used 2 out of the six books they told us to buy, she was stressed out and frustrated the entire 6 weeks, that is not teaching, that is not what I paid for. We reached out to the owner and he told me that she was not a kid that could speak for herself, unfortunately she does not speak the language yet thus she asked me to assist her, I did but it seems as though he ignored us. In sum, we have asked in both languages to get a 50% refund and so far the owner ignores the request. My girlfriend said they told her the owner offered for her to retake the course at no charge, that in itself implies they acknowledged that something went wrong. She said there was no way she will go through that bad experience again. Perhaps their method is very good, seems like the instructor did not follow it.
