We were the last three group before they close. We order a dish we never have before Yen Ta Four. This is a soup noodle dish with white fungus, shrimp, fish ball and calamari. The soup base tomatoes. I think it average. We got the Atlantic Crab Fried Rice. I recommend this dish. The fried rice is very tasty. The last dish is an appetizer. It is Royal Thai Short Rib. I like this dish. We came in at such a good time as our food came out just before there was a power outage in the restaurant. You can only imagine eating Thai food aka known ask spicy foods with no a/c, lol had to pack the rest to go. The golden crispy curry duck is $26+ it's so worth it and it comes with white rices. I really enjoyed all of the flavors. The pad thai medium spicy is actually spicy so just be aware lol. The fried rice was okay, I wanted to try something basic. Pricing is fair for all items. This place looks unassuming from the outside but has incredible food & service! It wasn't too crowded on a Monday night and we were seated right away, but I have heard that it can get busy and there's not a ton of tables inside, so come early or on a weeknight! We started with the rangoon appetizer, which were nice and crispy with a tasty sauce. I then had the tofu pad thai and it was incredible, not too saucy but full of flavor, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Ok I think this might be the best Thai restaurant in Tampa!! I just ordered green curry takeout and it was soooo delicious. Generous chunks of tender fresh unprocessed chicken meat, eggplant and peppers in a delicious creamy spicy sauce. I asked for 4/5 spicy because they assured me it was Thai spicy and it was perfectly spicy just the way I like it. Sometimes I go to Indian restaurants in Tampa and order 5/5 spicy and it's still bland. This place is not watered down and is legit! The Royal Thai is a popular family-run restaurant located just north of Tampa Airport. We arrived to find a queue for a table on Sat night, but the service moved quickly and the wait was shorter. The menu is impressively comprehensive, spanning appetizers, noodle dishes, rice plates, and entrées, desserts. We ordered the Yen ta four, the crab fried rice, the short ribs -- all were absolutely fantastic. What immediately stood out was the beautiful presentation. Each dish arrived thoughtfully garnished with fresh vegetables, with generous portions of protein nestled throughout. The crab fried rice was an A+ , a hearty, flavorful portion so generous we happily packed some up to enjoy as a next-day meal. I am not used to the pink miso broth of the noodle dish. But the content loaded with soft flat noodles, seafood, and fish balls that all came together wonderfully. Ribs were flavorful and delicious. Had the pork larb and my boyfriend had the beef pad thai. The larb was very good; it's hard to find nowadays. The pad thai was nice and saucy and sweet. The mangos in the mango sticky rice was so good! The mangos were super ripe and delicious. Ambiance is different than your regular Thai place. Usually you walk in and there are beautiful gold statues and embellishments on the walls. This place was pretty bare bones in terms of decor but don't let that dissuade you. Wow, what an unexpected surprise! We are here for medical stuff at Moffitt and was looking for a good place to eat. This little place is a gem. The staff is super nice and gives you time to look at the menu and answer questions. The moment we walked in the host was ready with menus and sat us right away. We ordered the crab Rangoons, they are really plump on the inside and crispy on the outside but not chewy nor hard, they were light and delicate. We also ordered the Tom Kha soup with shrimp appetizer and it was delicious. Spouse ordered the pineapple rice with shrimp. It was delicious and so much he couldn't finish it all I ordered #58 Vegetable entree with shrimp. Really good and a good assortment of cabbage, bean sprouts, carrots, scallions, broccoli and other stuff I can't think of. I got spice level 3 and it was perfect. Son ordered Green curry with chicken and it was packed with goodness! The eggplant was delicious (he shared with us) The staff was very attentive and checked on us multiple times. Prices are reasonable! There were only 1-2 servers during our visit (6:30-8:30), so I'm not sure if they were short-staffed or if that's normal, but it did slow things down a bit. This is the spot to go for great Thai food. I had the Pad Thai and it was seasoned perfectly for my U.S. taste preferences - flavorful without being spicy. That said, they can definitely turn up the heat if that's what you're looking for.The pot stickers are a must-order. They were crisped to perfection, and the dipping sauce was so good. My boss treated me for work lunch at the Royal Thai restaurant this past Monday. Being a foodie himself, he tends to be fairly on point when it comes to judging restaurants. But also beggars cant be choosers - can't really complain about a free meal especially when it was at the Royal Thai restaurant. It had been a hot minute (probably going on a year) since I dined at a Thai restaurant (exempting my experience at the Wat Mongkolratanaram). I am very temperate when it comes to Thai food considering that it's more on the sweet side relative to other Asian cuisines. And usually, my last Thai meal will determine the amount of time before I start craving Thai food again. With that being said, I am probably going to go for Thai again in the next week, if not, definitely within the month after having Royal Thai. Royal Thai sits along Hillsborough Ave (580) on the westbound side headed to the airport. It really blends in with the cluster of buildings of the Airport Industrial Park Plaza, so it can be easy to miss. There is plenty of parking within the spacious plaza lot. While not the biggest restaurant (perhaps a dozen tables at most), it seemed capable of accomodating large parties of 10 at most. Walking in during lunch, I was surprised to find that almost all the tables were occupied with diners. If that was not a testament to either an extremely loyal fanbase or great food, then the steady stream of patrons during our entire time there definitely speaks to how legit this place is. I ordered the Thai Papaya salad at Level 4 and Pad See Ew with Beef at Level 3 (5 spice levels). The papaya salad was refreshing - the peanuts and dried shrimp gave it that extra crunchy textures that complimented the papaya nicely. It was a bit on the sweeter side but great nonetheless (if you're into spicy food, get this at a Level 5). The Pad See Ew was also delicious. The flat noodles were cooked to perfection. It was not overcooked to where it stuck to each other or was mushy. Interestingly, at Level 3, the Pad See Eww had a bit of a kick to it. Overall great Thai food. I ordered the Thai tea, which was a tad too sweet, but delicious! The papaya salad was amazing. I ordered level 2 spice and I can definitely handle more spice next time. The lime and acidity on that was fantastic! For my entrée, I ordered the pad woon sen. I also could handle more spice than the level 2. This was the first stop after a long flight. It's about 10-15 away from the Tampa airport. There were 14 of us in town to cause havoc for a bachelor parties and we were hungry. We walked in and were seated right away. They have plenty of room and there were about three other parties there. I learned about this place thru TikTok and it look amazing. The food is very authentic and taste like my grandmothers cooking. All the sauces were great with each items. Started with the pork jerky and calamari. The pork jerly was fried perfectly with a nice crisp and pair with a spicy sauce. I had the Thai boat noodles and the flavor was on point! I didn't have to add anything else in but I needed more spice. Also got the pork leg stew over rice. That was yummy! So if you're in the area, stop by and give it a try! This spot has been on my Yelp bookmarks forever, and now that summer's here, I'm finally getting the chance to take the kids out to explore more cuisines. We ordered a variety of dishes, and overall it was a flavorful experience. My personal favorite was the Pad Gra Pow (5/5) with ground chicken stir-fried with basil, red and green peppers, and topped with a perfectly fried egg. I chose spice level 1, and it still had a nice, tolerable kick without overwhelming the dish. We also got the chicken satay (4/5), which came with five skewers. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the peanut sauce was absolutely delicious. I noticed the lunch special includes four skewers, so that might be a great option for a lighter meal. Another standout was the spicy basil fried rice with combination meat (4/5). We ordered it at spice level 4 which it started off manageable, but the heat definitely builds with each bite. By the end, we were dripping sweat and thankful for the Thai tea to cool down. The Tom Yum noodle soup (3/5) was just okay nothing really stood out, and for me, it leaned more sour than balanced. We came on a weekday around 11 AM and were seated right away, with only two other tables occupied. But by the time we left, there was a line at the door ,so this place gets busy quickly. I really think these reviews are all fake. The restaurant: I walk in here and the floor is full of food scraps and trash. Dirty AF. There's a standup fan blowing in mid of dining room, and blowing at me the entire time I'm in there. There's dirty tables all over the place waiting to be cleared. The food: None of it was terribly good (tasteless panang curry and satay; peanut sauce was more like peanut butter) and all of it was the typically below average Thai food that is ubiquitous in Tampa Bay. But if you step inside, you are Richey rewarded with some of the best Thai food around. The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because a child that belonged to our server was in our space a bit and it was pretty awkward.
