We stopped coming here in 2021, after 4-5 meals ruined and not feeling confident in the cleanliness we stopped coming. A few things that occurred can be normal experiences in a restaurant but when it repreatedlby happens you loose confidence and the desire to return. Our trips included finding black hair in the middle of my fried spring roll, a rubber band in my noodle dish, watching a sick woman employee cough and blow then wipe her nose at the dessert and smoothie station then not wash her hands, and another hair in my lotus salad, and we just couldn't recover. Thinh An is under new ownership, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered two kids' meals chicken pho and pork with rice along with the ground pork spring rolls. The customer service was great very attentive and fast . chicken was hard and chewy not edible and the noodles were a little too starchy for me and seemed slightly undercooked. The pork and rice was very plain with no veggies, which was disappointing since my kid actually loves her veggies The spring rolls arrived cold and hard and came with fish sauce; peanut sauce is available, but you have to ask for it. We also tried the vanilla bubble waffle with cookies & cream ice cream. The waffle itself was fresh, a good size, and comes with two toppings we opted for fruit. They have about a dozen tables inside and another dozen outside under a veranda. Most of their business is carry out; they even have a comprehensive buffet setup so people can choose their own items for carry out customers only. Our waitress, Queenie (That's her 'Table Name'), was on the ball and even though we got the last inside table, we were never neglected or had to wait for service. That is rare for a restaurant as busy as this one. I started with #5 Goi Cuom Tom ($5.90 for 2 pieces). Rice paper wrapped shrimp spring rolls with a tasty peanut dipping sauce. Future Christina, this is what the kids like. They have a kids menu and on it there's chicken nuggets and french fries! We were shocked, but this saved us with one son. The other absolutely demolished his steamed rice with grilled chicken, which was surprising. He also really liked the eggroll. I got an avocado smoothie and the shortrib dish, which is always a favorite. My husband got the chicken teriyaki skewers and added more skewers. They came and they were huge. Next time we don't need the extra skewers. This place can get busy on the weekends. Service was still pretty fast and super friendly. I really liked this spot a lot. There were so many things to try here! We came because we were trying to find something to do before we headed to the airport for our flight. We didn't have much of an appetite when we came, but I found them through yelp and decided to come check them out. We didn't come during rush hour, but it was still pretty packed when we got here. I got the banh mi xui Mai (pork meatball sandwich) and it was delicious. Nobody does the xui Mai in the town I'm from so I was happy to get to have it here. The bread was nicely toasted when it came out, and the pork meatball was scrumptious and full of flavor. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I also tried the banh Xeo (Vietnamese shrimp and pork belly crispy pancake). It was delicious! The pancake was cooked perfectly and the flavor was very yummy. It came out with a lot of veggies on the side. I don't have any complaints about this one at all! I definitely loved it and it's really hard to find someone to make this good. For my drink, I got a strawberry slushie. It wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't get it again the next time I come. I had a pretty good experience here in all, and will definitely come back the next time I'm in the area. My mom always told me if you want to enjoy international cuisine, find a place where people of that region go to eat. Thinh An is one of those places. It's a little cramped inside but they do also have a little indoor patio area for more space. There's a drink and dessert bar if you aren't dining in. If you are dining in, theres a very good staff that will take care of you. They're very quick and friendly and will guide you and answer questions if you need any help. The food is wonderful. While I'm not a fan of their powdered teas, I'm a fan of their coffees and sugarcane juice. Opening for breakfast six days a week, it's best to arrive early to beat the crowds. My favorite items in their prepared foods area are the pandan soy milk, lemongrass tofu, meatballs, spring rolls, and sesame balls. Many people love their phở and mì quảng, but I'm a fan of their thicker soups and stews. Dipping the crispy baguette into the soup is so satisfying. This place is definitely authentic, but I would say it's more of a "fast food" type Vietnamese restaurant vs. nicer. It's easy to find and there was a decent amount of parking which was good. They sat us quickly and we ordered, and our food came out in less than 10 minutes, and the servers were very nice. They have endless menu options so you will surely be able to find what you want. I haven't been to Thinh A Kitchen for a long time. It used to be one of my must-visit places whenever I was in Tampa, so I was excited to come back for an early dinner. The pho and Vietnamese vermicelli were still decent and enjoyable. However, I was quite disappointed with the tofu pudding and desserts. They did not meet my expectations, and unfortunately, we ended up throwing about $75 of dessert away after trying them. I recently was recommended Thinh An by a friend, and now I see why. This place is an absolute machine for Vietnamese food! They have so so so much to offer on the menu, plus a hot bar for lunch, plus baked goods, plus a refrigerated section for deserts and other items. The restaurant was quite busy and yet when we ordered our dishes, they were out in less than 5 minutes. Come hungry, because you will not have to wait long at all for your food! The pho was classic, and the chili oil that they give you with it makes it so good (but be careful not to add too much!) Located on the western side of Tampa Bay, Thinh An does present a bit of a commute, especially if you're coming from central Tampa (probably the easiest way to get here is by Veterans Expressway-589 if you don't mind the tolls). However, their wide selection of menu items as well as locally made goods make the trip worth it. If you've ever had Vietnamese at the throwback Pho Bang up in New York City, Thinh An will definitely bring back the nostalgia of inner city dining with the brightly lit menu items that contrasts with a dimly lit dining area. There appeared to be ample amount of seating area, both in the main indoor area, as well as an extended glass-windowed patio that provides additional seating. It felt a bit as if you entering another world as you walk into Thinh An with their ambiance. The restaurant was already open by 10 am (according to Google Maps, they open around 9) which was very convenient for us as we were looking for an early meal. There were almost countless items on their menu which offered a great variety and distinction from the normal pho noodle bowls, showcasing Vietnamese cuisine. Looking to try something different than our usuals, we ended up ordering the Banh Xeo and Banh Hoi. When the plates arrived, we were surprised by how enormous they were - there was more than enough food for one person. It was refreshing to see the amount of fresh greens that accompanied these plates. The dishes had good flavor and did their job at satiating our Vietnamese food cravings. After consuming our meals, we walked over to their "market" area where they had locally baked and made goods - from sweet deserts to savory appetizers. We ended up scooping up some premade Chè Ba Màu and a quart of tofu pudding with ginger to go. Definitely a neat market if you want something quick, fresh, and delicious. We got in too late and missed the hot/warm Tofu. We order two phos (Pho Tai and Bun MQC) and two vermicelli bun. The phos were well prepared. I have Bun MQC, a vermicelli noodle soup with spare ribs, mushroom meatballs and Vietnamese ham. The scallion, onion, cilantro, bean sprouts, basil, lime and jalapeno made this a wonderful meal!
