I did the consultation then, Darren helped me picked colors and measured etc but I still wasn't sure about the commitment ($$). Anyway, I finally pulled the trigger and had them installed today and all I can say is WOW. How often do you order/receive/have something installed and it's actually BETTER than you imagined?? Anyway, I told the installation guy (yes, I should have asked his name) that I was going to write a positive review immediately (my idea, not his) because I was/am so impressed. So here it is! I can't say enough about Dave from Royal Window Treatments!!! We were in the middle of a renovation. Naturally foreseeing the end, sooner than later, I had Dave come help me choose some shades. He climbed around boxes to measure and help me envision what I wanted. My shades were ready on time. Construction was completed. Dave was so patient, no problem storing until we were ready. In the meantime, we had ordered a shade for another room. His installer, was amazing and patient. His installer came for our final installation, so pleasant. Asking before drilling for placement of cord holders. Important when you've just renovated and don't want holes placed just anywhere. I really can not recommend Dave enough!! One of their employees/installers refused to pull up his mask while riding in the elevator with other people in my residential apartment building. After being politely asked several times, he eventually sneered and said, "I'm ignoring you because it's irritating. I have better things to do." It was quite the display of rude and uncivil behavior. The doorman let me know which apartment he was going to and I called the owner, who confirmed that he was from Royal Window Treatment. They were once good and very responsive a couple of years ago but now i'm truly disappointed with them . They don't follow up when i called to place an order and act like they don't want my business. I've always been very polite with them and gave them great reviews and never complained over the good work they did nor did I complain about the price. Royal Window Treatments does a very poor job and the service is unprofessional (that is probably the understatement of the century). I posted a negative review of the company and the owner Dave proceeded to disclose my personal and financial information on Yelp. I did not realize my financial and personal info had been disclosed until 3 months later when another customer who was also having problems with Royal, used the public information that Dave posted about me, to contact me and make me aware of what Dave had done! Ever since, i have received 3 calls/emails regarding the unethical business tactics of Dave & Royal Window Treatments. I hired them to install two sets of blinds in my apartment. The job was not completed in the time frame that I had been told and to top it off, the initial installation was horrible. Royal had to return to my apartment 3 times to complete the job. It took over 6 months for them to complete a 2 month project. In the end, I posted a negative review of the company and the owner Dave proceeded to disclose my personal and financial information on Yelp. Had up down Hunter Douglas - entire process was very easy. I knew exactly what I wanted style, color codes, type of mechanisms, so when I reached out to them I was able to place my order same day. The shades arrived within two weeks (as they said) and they came right in the middle of the delivery window and it took less than 1 hour to install all 4 shades. David made sure to clean the window sills of any debris from the installation and took all the packaging with him. Darlene (his assistant) was also very responsive over email, phone, and text. There were a couple hiccups - they didn't think to bring fabric samples the first time they came over, and when they were supposed to install the blinds there was a scheduling snafu. This review is based on my single experience with Royal, which turned out to be an excellent one. I had a blackout shade that no longer functioned because the cord was stuck. I dropped off the shade for repair at their office on a Wednesday afternoon. I got a call back later the same day from David who told me it would be ready the following day. "Quick service, that's great!," I thought. The next morning when I called to check if it was ready to be picked up, David offered to deliver the shade to my apartment, free of charge (I didn't ask, he offered). This saved me a trip downtown (and across town) and, of course, you gotta love free. The price for the repair was quite reasonable and came with a 1-year written guarantee. Such superlative service is rare these days and a real pleasure to find. I would use Royal again in a heartbeat. read more

This is a very unprofessional service experience. Key caveats are: 1) The "final" price changes from time to time at Royal Window Treatment's will. Everything that has been put down is never final; the price keeps going up and excuses come one after another. They are quite skilled at preying on customers who are time sensitive and need to get the job done quickly. 2) The "final" installment time changes from time to time. They are usually very late in informing you they can't meet the deadline, and you can do nothing about that but to give it patience as the deposits have been paid. 3) The agreed services are not delivered. a) I ask for white tracks, but the dark grey ones are delivered. b) The material I asked for is different from what they actually installed. They simply tell you that they don't have that material any more and are unable to order that. c) They promise you the curtains will look continuous but you can find wedges of apparent different color. 4) They significantly overprice material. The wholesale price they told you about a certain material can be 50% higher than the retail price of the same (if not better) material in retail stores in the city... So overall, very unhappy about the service. And hope Royal Window Treatments don't retaliate and post up my financial information like they did to an unfortunate customer who also wrote negative reviews about them... read more

Just got our electric blinds done for our bedroom, we had been going back and forth for a year trying to decide whether to pull the trigger since it was a big investment. RWT was so patient and incredible and able to work within our budget and even offer alternatives to things like the valance to better fit our price point. We couldn't be more happy we did this! As owners it adds more value to our apartment and since we face East and have tons of sun, it makes it much more comfortable! These are LEGIT blackout blinds!! Adds more privacy as well than the curtains we had before and much less maintenance! Also they are cord free, so no ugly wires and you only have to charge them ONCE A YEAR!!! The fabric choices were gorgeous and so high end, and the remote is very sleek. They are the most badass blinds ever!! Could not be happier- installation was 10 mins and a breeze, the guys installing them were amazing, polite, knowledgeable, and professional and they wore masks and gloves. A truly awful product and customer service experience. I had a black out shade installed in my nursery that was ineffective and overpriced. I payed $275 for a shade that was essentially equivalent to the shade I already had (and that was in my window when David came to make an assessment and give me a quote). Once installed, I realized that the new shade offered me absolutely no improvement so I then felt like I had no choice but to pay another $225 to have side channels installed to enhance the black out effect. Had i realized that the entire project was going to cost $500 total, I never would have purchased the original shade to begin with. AND even after spending $500 and contending with all of the stress this experience entailed, the shade was far from black out and i ended up installing EZ black out window covers myself for $50 to get a real black out situation in the room! Given that I am not an expert on shades, I really wish that I had been advised about the limitations of the products that were going to be installed in my home prior to having paid exorbitant amounts of money for them. Additionally, the customer service was poor throughout - disrespectful and amateurish at best. Appointment times were not honored. Any of my dissatisfaction was related to with disregard and incredulity by both David and Darlene. I am full of regret about this experience and throwing my money away. I can't begin to say enough bad things about this place. I was robbed. read more

I found Royal Window Treatments on Yelp. I found them to be easy to work with and helpful. We had our own fabric. They advised me on what would look best based on what we said we wanted. I think the finished product is well-made and looks good. One big caveat: They said they would get the window treatments to us in early December but actually didn't put them up until mid-January--six or seven weeks late. This was a major inconvenience and that's really why I'm only giving them three stars. Other than the lateness, I would recommend them. read more

I don't like the way my blinds came out. They looked sloppy. Period. Customer service was not helpful.

What a mess! They improperly measured the amount of fabric needed. Blinds looked like rags. And then they fight me on it! Months of searching for the right fabric down the drain. Oh, and just getting the initial delivery took more than two months. And they don't show up for an appointment during the week. I lose a day of work. I had TERRIBLE experience with this company!! I lived in 57th Street, and i called to make an appointment for them to come to check my blinds problem, one person called David confirmed the appointment and DID NOT even mention that there would be a cost for the visit, and he did not fix the problem during the visit either. But after the visit, he was trying to charge me 125 USD first for this visit, I simply said no, you did not mention to me there was a charge for that, and u did not even fix the blind problem, simply pulling the blind down. This guy David did not agree to go until I paid him 75 dollars to leave(considering I am a girl living alone, no option but to pay him) Later I called his store thinking maybe it is one of their employee that does not know the rules, it turned out he is the owner. He called me back to explained why he needs to charge me, saying parking under my building cost him 40 dollars, that is ridiculous how could you charge your customers at the last minute and mentioned you need to compensate your parking cost? Any charges should have mentioned beforehand, not at the last minute? This company owner is ridiculous~~he said he could offer me a discount if I continue to use their company, I definitely said no, how can I trust this kind of owner again? It is not that I can not afford this visit charge, but it is simply not the way you do business with clients! Bad review! read more

I was looking for motorized blinds and the manufacturer recommended Royal Window. I am glad I found them and am extremely satisfied with the service. David was helpful in confirming my research and did not try to upsell me. In fact, he showed me how to save money! He came to my house with no obligation. He told me I should expect delivery in 3 weeks (because I wanted a particular brand) and then we would arrange for installation, which was included in my price. The blinds came on time and he was able to install within a few days thereafter. David did all of the work with his associate. He was professional and neat with his work. He cleaned up, paid for his own parking and would not accept my quarters! He installed 7 shades in under 2 hours. With two installations, I will need to touch up some paint, but that is because i live in a prewar building and you have to deal with imbalanced windows. I do not blame David for that. I treated David like a professional and he returned in kind. When I called his office Tara always took my call. I was on top of it the whole way as well but only because I invested so much money with a new technology- the Q Motion blinds, which I love. You can go to Royal with Confidence. read more
