My sister and our niece were visiting me from out of state. While visiting they wanted a pool day. Even though I have a pool at my complex I wanted to enjoy myself with them, so I searched for the perfect spot to allow us to have fun together. Lylo Swim Club was always top of mind but I still searched to see if there was an option closer to where I live in North East Phoenix. Ultimately Lylo Swim Club was what I chose and I am very glad that I did. The fan mister gave us great comfort and the pool was the perfect temperature for us all. The popular Dole Whip drink did not disappoint we all three ordered one. Also the food was delicious and our server Miguel provided us with stellar service! Lylo has some awesome vibes, but it's an overpriced pool bar. If you want the tropical, pool-side vibes, those prices might be worth it to you. Just keep an eye on how much you're spending! There's a lot of spots for improvement here, but I'd also say that Lylo is one of the few businesses I've ever seen do such a visually-great escape out from their pool area. If you're here for the escape and temper your expectations for food or drink, I think you'd have a good time. There are a TON of mosquitos here, so prepare accordingly. The bar and hotel lobby didn't have bug spray nor any for sale. The nearby liquor store does have some for sale at less than a block's walk. (The pool is hot mid Phoenix summer. The pool itself felt closer to a hot tub than a refreshingly cold pool. I'm told this is normal for pools in Arizona in the summer.) PROS: -All of the drinks are really pretty, visually, and with the pool, you have a great mecca for social media photos. -Despite the ridiculous 110+ Phoenix heat, we were relatively comfortable in the shaded restaurant area with the misters. We could still see the pool, but we weren't baking alive. -Pool bathrooms were clean enough. There were lots of puddles and toilet paper on the ground, but nothing was horrific or moldy like some pool bathrooms can be. Spacious stalls for changing too - though I didn't see any shower or changing areas. -The pool area itself is pretty! It makes for gorgeous Instagram photos, and Lylo knows that. There are lots of little spots (a camp sign, a chair off on its own, all the loungers, etc.) that make cute photo backdrops in addition to the pool itself. -There is a collection of inflatable pool toys in the corner that seem to be open for guest use. CONS: -Water bottles are not allowed at all - not even sealed disposable plastic ones from the grocery store. They'll store them for you, and you can fetch your own water with disposable plastic cups while you're here. -The misters in the pool area were broken. With the heat, we chose not to actually use the pool, and instead stayed in the restaurant, shaded area with misters. -All of the on-menu drinks are pretty sweet and not super boozy (at their price points). It's easy to go through quite a few at their higher price. Make sure that you're spending intentionally. -We weren't in love with the food we ordered. It felt like frozen food reheated and served to us. To be fair, that's about to be expected from a pool bar, but it was still something to note at the prices and with nearby restaurants walkable. -Service is there. I wouldn't say it was friendly or welcoming, but the servers checked in often in-between talking to people in swimsuits or joking with friends. I rarely waited for anything, but I didn't feel like a valued guest. -The fabric of the chaise loungers and lounge beds are stained. I saw some employees hauling off some of them and shoving them into the back of a fabric cleaning van, so I'd assume they rotate in and out and have to deal with a ton of spilled drinks. read more

Was super excited to come here with my friends. We decided to get 3 chairs and there were dirty dishes left everywhere. You would think being outside they would have someone buss since there were bugs swarming everywhere. The Dole Whip drinks you would assume the alcohol would be mixed in but just poured on top. Call the Lylo Swim Club this morning and spoke with Paul Epstein.... oh my actual god good luck. So extremely rude not helpful at all no wonder on his LinkedIn he switches jobs every few months. Some things he told me on the phone.... 1. That the dishwasher/busser was going around every 20 minutes and grabbing dishes... Wrong I saw him once 2. Explained to him that the drinks tasted like they were poisoned. He said what do you expect when you order alcohol. 3. he asked why I didn't grab a server. There were two and I saw them maybe three times only when they were delivering wrong food. He then told me that they were overstaffed yesterday pathetic. On top of that he said everyone was going there to get the dole whip drinks because of TikTok. I'm glad other people could enjoy them, but you would think since he works in the restaurant industry he would have grace for others when its impossible to please everyone. That I understand but with all of these things that went wrong a discount should have been applied. I've never experienced someone so rude and uptight. Came last year and it was a total vibe. Loved everything about it. Stopped in today with a group of 13. Making the reservation was smooth, but things quickly fell apart once we arrived. There was confusion at check-in, especially for anyone trying to walk in due to "code" restrictions. The new executive chef's approach felt overly intense, with bag checks for outside water and even pointing out security cameras. It set a very different tone from what we experienced before. Service throughout the day was inconsistent. Food came out before drinks and was already cold, with cheese solidified by the time it hit the table. Drinks took 10-15 minutes on average, and at one point over 20 minutes when the system went down. While that's understandable, communication and consistency were lacking. We were initially told going to the bar would be faster, but bartenders either redirected us to servers or ignored us. Then when the system went down, suddenly the preference shifted to ordering at the bar. It felt disorganized and unclear. It was also difficult to flag down servers when we needed anything. At the end, despite having different reservation (chair) numbers and clearly asking for separate checks, everything was put on one tab, which made closing out frustrating and time-consuming. We heard there's new management, and unfortunately the experience reflected that shift. We really miss the energy and smooth flow from before. 1.17.26 A Tale of Two Beet Salads! The first one we ordered tasted kind of "meaty" like maybe it was on the same grill as the burgers? The second one tasted "clean" or like it was supposed to taste. I love Lylo Swim Club. I've been here a few times, they usually offer a $20 day pass -- hang out by the pool 12-6pm for a day. It's the perfect hidden gem, relaxing, sunny, easy parking, great food and even better drinks. Well known for the dole whip cocktail, trust me -- order it! We stumbled across this Rivera in the desert on Camelback by accident when the bar we were going to go to was closed. It is absolutely beautiful and a bar deserving of a large resort. We didn't go to Lylo's for food we only went for this dole whip. This is an outside swim up bar. The service was ok. This dole whip is only nice to look at and take pics and videos of. They get the slushy from out of a machine that is already mixed up but before they put it in your cup they put a shot of liquor at the bottom how disgusting. Service was really slow Wednesday and there were under 20 people it was 30 minutes before i was asked if everything was fine or if i wanted anything else. I ordered lemonade and specifically asked if it was free refills, i was told yes, i was charged for refills BUT i was not shown the screen or asked to sign so i didnt find out until i got home there's also another random $1. 25 charge on my card so i guess they also decided to tip themselves which is interesting. I should've asked for a receipt i guess but i was really tired and trying to get an Uber. While i like the vibe and find the people friendly there always seems to be some issue with the check even when i stayed at the hotel there were issues with the check at the pool. The night swim costs $15 and we were able to sit in the lounge chairs, use the pool and hot tub, and order drinks. The service was pretty bad and slow though it seemed only one waitress was working. I came here to chill by the pool with some friends for the evening. The vibe was perfect. It's just a regular pool and hot tub but it's super cute and there's a nice bar with poolside service. Lylo is the poolside bar at Rise Uptown Hotel in downtown Phoenix. It's so chill and easy here. They also have plenty of TVs on the outside patio. And their food is surprisingly very good. We needed a quick snack before dinner and shared a plate of barbacoa fries ($16). The fries are topped with braised short rib, onions, cilantro, crema, and a Mexican cheese mix. The key to tasty loaded fries are the fries themselves. These in particular, had a nice, crispy exterior. On their own, these were the perfect dipping fry. The barbacoa was also tender and flavorful. Just a really good all around combo. We shared the chicken tinga taco ($4.00) and this was absolute fire. The taco comes topped with crema, onion-cilantro, and cotija cheese on a corn tortilla. I'd stopped by Lylo earlier this year just to check it out and was surprised to feel like I was in a tropical location hidden away off Camelback. Such a cute place! I came back with some friends for a pool day and we reserved some loungers. We weren't sure how long we'd really stay as it was a hot day, but we ended up staying through our reservation. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, but our server (Michael?? Maybe? We did learn he was originally from Egypt) was exceptional! They'd just switched to a new menu and we loved the guacamole trio and chips and salsa - though the chicharonne guacamole was a bit too meaty for us. We had a few other snacks and everything was tasty! The Dole whip is the standout drink but also have to shout out the Shotski -- shots attached to a ski that 4 of you take at once. Cheesy and a little random? Yes. Hilariously funny in a pool? Yes. They also served non-alcoholic drinks like iced tea in these giant tall glasses (actually plastic maybe) that made them more fancy. Lylo Swim Club definitely has potential. The atmosphere was great and the food and drinks were genuinely tasty, which made the overall experience feel promising at first. My friend and I were even saying when we first got there that it would be a great spot to bring a group of our friends. Unfortunately, the service really fell short. After our food was delivered, our waiter didn't check on us once for the remaining hour and a half we were there. We had asked for straws and lemons, which he forgot, minor, but still part of the experience. More importantly, when our food came out, we weren't given any napkins or silverware, even though not everything we ordered was finger food. We ended up having to flag down another waitress just to get what we needed after waiting for quite some time. On top of that, we noticed our drinks sitting for a while, and our waiter was behind the bar on his phone at times. When it came time to leave, we had to wave him down again for the check after waiting for a long time. Given the lack of service and the long wait times on a not-so-busy Friday afternoon, I'd honestly be a little wary of how it would be with a larger group. Overall, really disappointing service, especially considering how good everything else was. With better attention and follow-through from the staff, this place could easily be a standout. read more

Lylo Swim Club is a tropical bar serving up Sonoran flavors. Located at the Rise Uptown hotel in Uptown Phoenix, it serves as a fun escape from the bustle around it. Grab a seat at the bar, relax at a table or luxuriate on a daybed at the pool. We tried the trio of tacos and chose the chicken tinga as the tastiest. The Carne asada fries were the hit though! They were covered in flavor and a large enough portion to share. In keeping with the tropical theme we sipped mango and passion fruit margs along with our bites. Food is nothing that's going to wow you and service is a bit slow but it's a perfect spot for a date night out. I do regret not trying the boozy dole whip as it looked delicious and friends have raved about it. Afterwards we headed up to Don Woods' Say When bar on the rooftop of the hotel (Check out my next post). You can even pick up a paleta in the shop located near checkin. I stayed at the hotel this Mon-Wed in July. I picked this hotel for the pool. There weren't more than 6 people at the pool at any time but that's to be expected on a weekday. They check your bags at the pool entrance. You cannot bring in outside food or drink. Hotel guests get 2 free drinks (one per person) at their HH. The HH location changes between Lylo and the rooftop bar depending on the day. I tried some fruit flavored mojito on Tuesday and it was awful. It was so sweet, that even when you replace half of it with water, it was still too sweet. I also wasn't sure if there was any alcohol in this at all. Couldn't taste it, only the sugar. The chicken asada skewers do not have enough chicken. The cucumbers and tomatoes were so salty, they were inedible. We covered our fries while we went to our room and left them on our seats (with all our stuff still there). They threw the fries out without asking us. My friend and I were looking for a comfy chair to soak up the sun and get some good food and drinks while I was in town and the Lylo provided all that and more. We bought a resort pass for the day and while I wish guests were able to get there earlier than 11 we enjoyed the short window we were able to be there! Our waitress was so sweet and kept us in good shape with drinks and water. The chairs are really comfy and big with plenty of towels available and a warm but refreshing pool. My only complaint is the chairs are pretty close together and my friend and I had wanted our umbrella down, but then the people next to us wanted it up and as we shared the same umbrella most of us ended up in the shade. As someone from Ohio, my girlfriend who lives ins AZ let me take the one sunny spot. We only got the chips and guac for food but it was delicious. And do yourself a favor and get the boozy dole whip! Lyle Swim Club has been in my list to check out for a long time and I finally had a chance to swing by. I went after work on a normal Tuesday night and this place was empty. We had a great server who greeting us warmly and provided attentive service during our experience. The food itself was very overpriced for the average food quality that was delivered. The margaritas we ordered were watered down and 3 Berry Daiquiri had no flavor. I was overall disappointed in the food and drinks.
