The pricing is on the higher end, which is worth noting if you're looking for dry cleaning. I can't speak to the quality of the service itself. I had seen a previous review mentioning that the owner was not in during business hours, so I called ahead twice to confirm--but neither call was answered. I was quoted $80 for cleaning a comforter and a jacket, with the earliest pickup available in three days. The woman is senile and keeps changing the prices of items. When confronted with receipts which shows her price changes, she's outright rude, claiming she's worked there for 20 years and doesn't recognize me. As a weekly customer, I'm going elsewhere. I've been here a number of times and been very pleased with the results. Most recently I had a winter coat that I needed cleaned ASAP for a trip to Boston; it was so filthy, and had probably never been properly laundered, but I brought it to Roy's and they had it done within a few days. They picked up the dry cleaning, tardy but on the assigned day, the delivery was not On the ser date but 2 days later as Sunday got in the way. The clothes were done right and although not promptly I did get a response to my inquiring email. I suggest they keep the Client informed as to what's up with the cleaning. read more

I would actually like to rate this business as a "-5" because it a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I called Roy's Cleaner in advance to see if they could dry clean a small silk blouse in 3 days, and they said yes, no problem. I was leaving for a trip out of the country and needed it asap. The guy assured me it would be ready early. I went to pick the blouse up and the mother couldn't find the blouse anywhere, then discovered that it was in the original laundry bin it had been dumped 3 days prior. The blouse hadn't even been moved and they obviously hadn't even started to clean it. The store looks like a complete dump and is very very dirty. How can they be a "cleaner" when their own business looks like a filthy dump and is run so poorly. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRY CLEANER!!!!!! read more

Service: 10/10... but over $5 to dry clean a dress shirt??? My girlfriend and I brought in several clothing items to dry clean. We saw the great reviews and went a little bit out-of-the-way to come here. The guy was super nice and took the time to let us show him different stain spots on our clothes. The clothes came out spotless, which was great considering that some shirts had stains from our washing machine that wouldn't come out. But the price was insane... even for the unstained items it was over $5/shirt. Together, for a week's dry cleaning it cost us each over $30... so unfortunately I'm gonna try to find a cheaper spot. read more

Adam, at his core, understands that this is a customer service business and he treats his customers like family. He is timely, reliable and fair with his prices every single time. I have been coming here for years and am welcomed with a smile every time. I have never had any issue with the service in any way. I noticed a few recent posts indicating otherwise, knowing Adam, if these people would have just approached him, rather then taking to the internet I am 100% sure that Adam would have found a solution. The guy takes his business seriously and again knows that he is in the customer service business. He always puts a smile on my face, which is what everyone wants and needs from their service providers and network. He actually cares, which is rare. I will never go to anyone else for my dry cleaning services. Even if Adam moved to Wyoming, I would pay to have my shirts shipped to him. read more

Okay, truth: I fear the dry-cleaner. After too many terrible experiences with Boston dry cleaners, I avoid dry cleaners like the plague. I avoid purchasing "dry-clean only clothes" (which is near impossible), and with my cashmere sweaters, I use dryell (and unfortunately, I'm skeptical about how clean that steaming bag gets them... anyways, another story...) Anyways, here I was with 4 tiny red wine stains on my cream-colored Diane Von Furstenberg Simone Ruffle Coat. I dabbed some dryell stain-remover, and the spot was not going away. I panicked, and almost dumped the $600 coat into the washing machine because as I mentioned before, I have an inexplicable fear of dry cleaners, and somehow do not think rationally when tags say "DRY CLEAN ONLY". Fearing that I would do some permanent damage to the coat, I decided to yelp for a dry cleaner. First I yelped in SF inner sunset, and there were some shady-sounding places. Second, I yelped for dry cleaners in Palo Alto, and Roy's had outstandingly good ratings. It was 8:30pm on a saturday night, and I called the number provided to see the answering machine specified if they were open on Sunday. Ring... ring... ring... Adam: Hello? Me: Uh, hi... are you open tomorrow? Adam: Nope, but are you looking to pick up or drop off? Me: Drop off Adam: Well, I'll be here for 30 more minutes if you want to drop it off Me: OMG! I'll be right there! Adam opened the door, and I gave him my sob story. (Lesson: his advice is, if you get a stain, DON'T PUT ANYTHING ON IT. Bring it in ASAP. Apparently, the solvents these days are amazing, and they have a power cleaner that gets out everything. Second lesson: If you consistently buy things that are worth more than $100, REALLY DON'T PUT DRYELL/TIDE STUFF ON IT) He red-taped the entire coat and said he or his mom would try really hard to get all the stains out. Listen, I haven't even received the coat yet, but Adam was so reassuring that my favorite DVF coat would not shrink, and most of the stains should come out, that I think I've found my favorite dry-cleaner. Side note: Hours are M-F 10:30-6:30 and Sat 10:30-4, closed Sundays. Update: coat is as good as new. I have found dry cleaning heaven! And it was only $15 read more

Having came here after viewing several high Yelp reviews, I expected a "wow" factor upon entry. While it took a bit to find parking since the place is on El Camino, I came into a drabby looking shop that had a small wait of 2-3 people ahead of me. Finding out later for this to be customary, I greeted the shop owner and we began to talk. This conversation extended over a period of months and was always part of a through explanation or review of the cleaning on my particular clothes. Seeing as how there were too many OCD or bellowing customers on several occasions, I chose to be a related patron. I'm glad I went in such a way, because the Kevin continues to have a thriving business from local and Stanford. It's growing quite a bit. What some people will find different about this place is that coming here isn't just a service, but part of a conversation. While shirts may be more expensive to clean than pants here (or is it vice versa, I don't recall), Kevin says it like it is. He'll remember you too. What I found was that quite often, the customers became temperamental in incredibly irrational ways. In most cases it was due to a rush or perhaps a sense of privilege, the rude customers here will lay into questions like "why isn't my grease stain out? My friend Tiffany said it would come out when we had these awesome truffle fries." Well, Tiffany, you obviously have a friend who eats like a slob, and you just may not know the properties of day-old grease in clothing. I get a kick out of it, and I hope you do too. read more

This place is horrible! If you care about the quality of work and/or service, stay away! They are using the proximity to Stanford campus to exploit student. Be aware!! Why? 1. The guy in the reception is rude, doesn't care about his customers and only wants to get your money as fast as possible. 2. I brought a white shirt stain-free and got it with a big stain (after dry-cleaning!!!). These things might happen so I brought it back. They claimed it was my fault and that the stain was there (if it was there why didn't you clean it?!). Not only that, they wanted to charge me again for cleaning it!!!!!!! How despicable can a business be? 3. I asked for no-starch in my clothes and I got all my shorts starched. When I complained, their responded that there is no way to know and that I am wrong. I have been using dry cleaning for 15 years and never got a more idiotic response. 4. The place is not inexpensive. You can get better service and better quality for less. I don't know how these place got many stars. The only explained is that they are writing their own reviews. For you own sake, use a different cleaners. I give excellent reviews for places who are worthy of it. This is why I gave "Atherton Dry Cleaners" a 5 star review - it's an awesome place and you can't go wrong by going there. Unfortunately, it 's far from where I live so I tried out your service. True high quality dry cleaners are hard to find therefore low quality places like yours are unfortunately more in common. You better focus on improving your service than blaming your customers for not being experts in "dry cleaning and laundry". You don't need to be an "expert" to understand that after dry cleaning and laundry, a shirt needs to be clean (clean also means without any stains in case I need to spell it out). Indeed, sometimes you might slip and miss a spot, but then you need to be kind your customers instead of blaming them and claiming they are not experts. I suggest you focus on your service and you might have a decent shop someday. read more

I used to work at Stanford Hospital and would use the dry cleaning services here often. Mostly my peacoats and snowboarding jackets. It's amazing how they always came back clean and crisp, especially my white ones! Now that I don't work at Stanford anymore, I use a place near home, but they don't get the hard to remove stains and dirt from the creases, folds, and crevices from the wrist part. Not only is this place affordable, they have friendly service and work in a timely manner! I would drop off during my lunch hour and be able to pick it up the very next day! I wish I can come back here again, but I'm rarely in the area and can only hope that they move to San Jose or open up another Roy's here! I have referred my old co-workers here and they have been really happy with them! read more

Update 9/19 So following his comment on Yelp, I decided to give him another shot. Went in there with 11 shirts, 5 poles and 4 slacks -- obviously a heavy load. When I circled back to get my stuff, guess what -- another missing polo shirt. He promised me to drop it off the day after at my place, and I was thinking that probably won't happen given his track record and I was dead on. Zero calls. So I had to go in again to retrieve it. Again, Adam is a good guy. But the business as a whole is just as dysfunction as it always has been. I'm outta here! Off to Menlo Shirt Laundry where I will have to shell out 2x-3x more, but they've got reliability and quality I need. read more

I happened across Roy's and I am SO glad I did! First of all, Kevin is incredibly honest and friendly, always greeting me, asking me about life and asking when I need things back by. Because I travel often, I sometimes leave clothes there for several weeks, yet he always finds them immediately and they are clean, pressed and fresh! I also appreciate that he's very honest. I take my alterations to them as well and he'll let me know what to expect depending on the alteration need or stain. In addition, pricing is very reasonable!! read more

This is truly an excellent place to get your dry-cleaning done. Customer service is fantastic, the quality is great, and the prices are reasonable. Seriously, if you don't already go here, give this place a try. Their emphasis on quality and service made me not want to go to any other cleaner again. The only complaint I have, which actually isn't even big enough to merit dropping the review a star, is that the hours are a bit limited. For me, early in the morning is much more convenient. However, the quality of service here really does make it worth the effort to come in later instead. Pro-tip: Parking on El Camino can be difficult, especially during peak traffic hours. But if you pull around the corner onto Stanford Ave, there is no traffic and almost always some street parking. read more

We loved this dry cleaner until recently. It now has new management - or at least drastically new pricing. It was $30 for a summer dress and a couple of men's shirts. Adam, the previous dry cleaner at Roy's, knew how much starch we wanted, forewarned us if prices changed or if a stain didn't come out, used a simple (and fast) app to charge credit cards, and was just generally great to work with. We drove across town to use Roy's but now will be using the dry cleaner closer to us. read more

This place is the absolute best. His prices are always reasonable. He takes extraordinarily good care of my clothing- it always comes back looking brand new and beautiful. And he always remembers my name & what I'm there to pick up- even when my boyfriend drops off my clothing on my behalf! I use Yelp pretty religiously, but I haven't really felt compelled to ever write a review... this is my first. And yes, it's for a dry cleaners. I'll be moving up to San Francisco from the Peninsula, and not being able to drop my dry cleaning off at this place will be one of the things I'll miss most. They have by far the best prices anywhere in the area for both shirts and dry cleaning (I live in Atherton and make the trek, it's worth it), and Adam provides some of the friendliest service I've ever experienced. He takes great care of all the stuff I give him. Dry cleaning's generally one of those things you take for granted, but this place has managed to make enough of an impression on me to take the trouble to write this (very hard to do for me). Read last review dated 01/24/2018 giving credit to Adam...though this business is no longer under same management. It was because of said review that I took my clothes happily thinking that Adam re-opened the shop. Got suspicious when I was greeted by an older Korean lady. When I asked her where is Adam, she didn't reply only saying that 'his' younger brother will be in the shop soon. Since I was already in the shop, I gave her my clothes and waited until I got them back to write this review. Clearly, this is NOT same business. I don't want to discourage anyone from coming here. The clothes were done in the time that was promised, and were also done well. For me, I am going to find another cleaner closer to my house. I went out of my way to Roy's because of Adam...and his prices were lowest in town. Under new management, price is same as those closer to me and I no longer have a relationship. Bottom line...if you live close to El camino and Stanford Ave, you may want to continue with Roy's. For convenience and saving money, Roy's may not be your best option. read more

Even asked if they could keep it 1 more day to work on 2 nasty stains that were underneath the dress (I walked through 2 gutters, stupid outdoor wedding). This place is the best! Adam is always so nice and already knows me by name although I've only been there a handful of times. I take my boyfriends shirts about once a week to get cleaned and they are always done perfectly... and he can be pretty picky. My family has used Roy's Cleaners for several years now. I have used his shop for all my dry cleaning and clothes laundering needs. Roy is very client focused. He always asks when it is most convenient for me to come back to retrieve my goods, even if it on occasion means the following day! I went to a company holiday party where the booze was flowing freely. Can't get any better than that. I was having a grand ol time but my dress got the brunt of my boozy night. I didn't realize my dress was 100% silk. Oh so that's why it was so expensive. Roy's cleaners got some amazing reviews so I decided to check it out for myself. I'm definitely not disappointed. Yes, it took more than 2 months to get it back but that's because they were relentless in trying to save the dress. What's even better? I paid 50% less than what I was quoted and Adam apologized to me that it took so long! I'm not gonna wear a dress is if it looks tore up so no apology needed. After having had such an awesome experience at such a cheap price I'm most definitely going to bring in all of my dry clean clothes here from now on. read more

We've used this cleaners a month or so now for the wash and fold laundry service. Adam, the guy who runs the place, is great. He's friendly and does a wonderful job. Plus his prices are great. We're going to continue going here because of the great service. Adam's also very flexible with his working hours - he's willing to wait for you if he knows you're on your way and it's close to closing time, and he'll call you if you've forgotten to pick up your stuff.
