Roy's C&M team was terrific to work with - shows up on time, detailed quotes, reasonable price, proactive communication, respectful of property and clean-up, not to mention friendly, patient, and never pushy. It's always great when the client feels like a thought partner in the process. Scope included demo and replacement of a long driveway, and backyard patios and pathways that were tripping hazards. This was partly to address new insurance requirements, but also to enlarge the space, improve functionality, and reduce maintenance. My point of contact was Michael, and he and his crew were stellar. He helped ensure functional, balanced design and proper drainage. Highly recommend this detail-oriented team, and I wouldn't hesitate to chose them again for my next project. Roy's just finished a major remodel of my back yard. We are so happy. They did a Stone upper deck, new retaining walls and steps of acid washed concrete and smooth stucco, a marble pool coping and a lower deck of washed concrete. Michael, Roy's son was our lead guy. He is very knowledgeable, quality oriented, customer focused. When first bidding the job , he made sure all of the unseen structural components were included. He has several crews doing separate parts of the work from demolition to stone work to concrete. The all were very hard working , polite and very skilled. Amazing to see it all together. I love my new driveway!!!!!! I had several estimates before choosing Roy's concrete. Roy and Michael are so professional, courteous and honest. We were re-doing our front walk and the retaining walls of our front gardens. Roy's was recommended to us by Thompson's Building Materials. I had previously met with two other Yelp-listed masonry contractors. They were not as impressive as Yelp venders I've worked with before. On the other hand, Michael, Roy's son, was immediately credible and knowledgeable. He showed up when he said he would. He was very consultative. His recommendations (definitely listen to him) were totally aimed at the best results. I never felt like I was being "sold" anything. At one point, one of the masonry choices I had made using online images didn't work out. We needed to change a bunch of material Michael had already ordered. Because of Roy's strong working relationship with Thompson's, we got the change made at no additional cost. Both Roy's and Thompson's were focused on getting the best results. The quality of the concrete walkway is wonderful. The Roy's crew worked literally all day managing the different steps of the finishing. Roy's Concrete and Masonry is not a company to give job. I gave $95,700 for parking lot and other concrete works, and a portion of parking lot has been sinking and caused uneven surface. We found Roy did not follow the construction code and cheated us.Within a year after the construction, we told Roy to fix the problem but he never repaired the problem. Now the statue of limit is over and he still has not repaired the uneven surface. Recently we found out him cheating the construction code and we plan to take a legal action. I needed a sidewalk/pathway for my mom's home. This was a safety issue as mom is handicap only able to get around on a mobility scooter. We had Roy's Concrete replace our old, cracked and uneven driveway. It never drained right and the cracks had gotten so bad they had become a hazard! Roy's concrete did an outstanding job for us! They did amazing work with a 16" on center layout! With a great gravel base, Which we truly need with the adobe soil! They also fixed the drainage problems too! I had Roy over to give me an estimate for demolishing an existing 26' block wall and installing a new one in a different location. He gave me a great estimate and, while we were talking, he suggested replacing my concrete driveway with paving stone. I told him that a friend had done that to his driveway and what it cost him was too expensive for me. Roy quoted me a price that was only 60% of what my friend had paid. I was "sold" and work started the next week. We had a few issues to discuss, such as including paving a curved two step entry to the back of the house and including a walking path from the driveway to another two step entry to the front of the house. He handled it all with good suggestions and none of the extra costs I would have expected. All prices were based on the amount he charged per paving stone - no hidden costs. That was very refreshing. Work started in a few days and was completed eight days later. The workmanship was excellent and my new driveway is perfect. Roy was on site every day but one. I am known as a perfectionist and do not hesitate to complain if I am dissatisfied with anything. It always pays to read yelp and to check on your next-door app to see who is really good. I hired Roy to do a simple job on my deck which entailed taking out a planter and cementing it for a sunroom we were going to have installed. Roy's expert eye immediately saw that we would have problems in the future with flooding because the existing concrete was not level. I took the plunge and had him rip out the entire backyard, build a new Deck to support the sunroom, and a brand-new driveway in front. Roy added three wonderful red brick planters and a polished concrete floor for the sunroom. His crew were always on time, neat and polite. Roy was always available for consultation and kept me up-to-date with every step of the procedure. Now our garage doesn't flood anymore when it rains and I am confident that once the sunroom is installed, we will have no problems with leaking. I do not hesitate to recommend him wholeheartedly. Roy's recently did a job for us - some stairs, planter beds, a low seating wall alongside the pool and a semi-circular fire pit seating area with a sloped back. From the beginning - interviewing contractors and gathering bids, Roy was on time, communicative, had good suggestions on how best to achieve the ideas we had sketched out, and came in at a reasonable price. His team were exceptional and professional - arriving on time, working hard, and cleaning up before they left each afternoon. Our job was a challenge and Roy's foreman joked that he spent his evenings thinking about how to create the frame for our new seating area. There was so much prep work involved in building a semi-circular frame for the seating, but they pulled it off perfectly and on pour day when they pulled off the framing it looked awesome. Roy did not scrimp on making sure he had enough workers to get the job done in a timely manner - and his guys worked at 110% smoothing concrete before it set (since pour day happened to be 80 degrees!) Its hard to find contractors who are professional, true artisans AND fairly priced, but Roy and his team are all of the above. We would absolutely hire them again. read more

I would be concerned about doing business with them if they cannot return calls. What would happen if you had a problem...and they just disappear? I recently hired Roy's to put pavers in my parkway. When we were planing the job we discussed the placement of the water meter box. I thought it should line up with the street and the pavers, like it was before they started. He insisted that it line up with the driveway. When the project was done I pointed out how strange it looks with the box a random angle. He denied the whole thing. First off he should of admitted the error and offered to make it right. My finished product looks strange with meter box at a weird angle. At first he said he would make it right. Now he is lying about the whole thing and refusing to fix it. Do yourself a favor and keep clear of these guys. After paying them all their money I will probably have to hire someone else to make it right. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS YOU MIGHT REGRET IT. read more

In planning a Front Porch rebuild on a home built in 1924, I went to Home Adviser and Thompson's Building Supplies looking for contractor references. I solicited 4 estimates and Roy's was most in line with my expectations. There is very little negotiating for the cost of the project. Roy sends his son, Mike out to survey the job, then Mike reports to Roy. Mike calls with the estimate and comes over with contract in hand. The estimate is very reasonable so I stopped seeking estimates from other contractors. Contracts are amendable through Change Orders. Charges for the added work is also reasonable. I ended up replacing the front walkway, adding pavers between the curb and sidewalk, installing artificial turf and adding a sit wall to the back yard. Roy's design recommendations turned out very well. There were differences of opinion on some design elements. Roy is very customer satisfaction oriented as is his onsite supervisor, they inform you of why things should or should not be implemented and does not over charge for changes. I did need to leave work on occasion when unexpected problems arose and my input was required. I am very pleased that the supervisor onsite would consult with me on these occasions. The project was completed in 4 weeks. There were workmen onsite every day except when the materials needed time to set. Overall my association with Roy's Concrete and Masonry went very well and I would and have recommended them to other home owners. read more
