Recently picked up 2 Specialized bikes from Roy's from a friends recommendation. Glad we listened and went there for our bikes. Ryan the salesman and the rest of the crew there are awesome. Ryan showed us a bunch of bikes in a few different price ranges but when it came down to it he recommended the bike that worked best for us and it wasn't the most expensive. He spent time time to make sure we got what we needed. Great service. I came in to get a brake blade replaced and told them that I had issues with my front derailleur. After replacing the brake lever Gerald adjusted the derailleur and said it appeared wider than it should be (it was). It was a Shimano Ultegra and all the rest of the set up is Shimano so he called them and told them my part was under warranty (which it is) but I'd got the part from another shop. Shimano agreed to warrant the part and exchange it with Roy's. Gerald replaced it and I'm shifting well again. Bravo to Gerald, Roy's and Shimano. read more

Called multiple times to ask about stock and they either never answer or never call back. Eventually bought a bike and came in to pick up my bike but they made me wait a full hour. They didn't even let me know it was going to take so long as they kept telling me "it'll be done soon". They probably didn't start building it until I got there honestly. Also didn't let me know anything about future bike repairs/how to use the gears when they handed me the bike. This service is unacceptable when I am paying almost $1k for a bike. read more

This is in regards to Franklin. You've made my experience here the worst yet. I've been coming here for years and never had a problem with the service until now. Your professionalism is not up to standard and quitting should be the BEST if not the ONLY option to ensure a fruitful lifestyle for yourself and the business of Roy's. He's those kind of workers that pretend to know a lot about what he does but doesn't and you can tell the moment you see him. I needed new inner tubing for my bike and also an inspection to know if there were something puncturing it and if there were, I'd buy it there. When I gave him the bike he repeated what I said and made me repeat myself as if I didn't know what's going on. When I asked him again to take a look at it, he quickly glanced it and assumed it was fine and started replacing the inner tube with the help of another employee that's been there for a while. I started riding my bike and heard some sort of clicking sound from bike and I find myself without air after a few miles. And now I have to walk home with my bike and am taking a break to write this review... read more

When I went in today and said hello to Allen, he was like hi do I know you? Secondly a bike shop and other stores are supposed to give you personalized attention... I got my very first bike with training wheels at Roy's 25 years ago. That's how long they've been around! And aside from brief periods living outside of NYC, I've never purchased a bicycle anywhere else. I'm truly surprised to read the negative reviews about customer service. The feel at Roy's is laid back, meaning that you absolutely will not be hounded when you walk in the door, and never feel pressured to buy anything - which is something I really enjoy and appreciate. They let a lot of window shoppers come and go as they please. If you have a question, or need assistance, simply approach them and ask and they'll be more than happy to help. Scott, one of the salesmen is fantastic and highly recommended. The owner, Allen, has great customer service as well. Returning items with factory defects will always be painless. And if you need a repair, Alex and Gerald are top notch. Also, I've gone in here a few times and when I expressed what I was looking for, I was recommended a bike that was cheaper than the one I was looking at, so their obvious priority is to help customers find what they need, not make an extra $50. You'd be hard pressed to find that anywhere else. They also let you take a 10 minute test drive around the neighborhood to see if you like it! They own the Cannondale shop next door as well, which seems quite popular. Both shops have really great selections, and great prices. And no matter which shop you purchase from, they always include a year of service/repair. Just beware that they become incredibly crowded in the summer - especially on weekends, so be patient! I bought 2 bicycles here so far. One was a beginners mountain bike under $300. it's great and I had it for years. I still have it. Two years ago I bought a $1100. road bike. I love it. They helped me chose the right bike, I test drove it, they got me the right size and fit it for me, they adjusted and tuned it, and gave me discounts on accessories. I go to Roys a few times a year for tune ups, air, accessories, etc. They are always friendly and helpful but sometimes (especially weekends) they can get very busy. They are slightly overpriced on some things compared to shopping online or buying at large chain stores but sometimes it's worth it for their experience and service. read more

This place was one of the most efficient bike shops I've ever been to. We came here in a crunch as we were biking from Willyburg to Coney Island and one of our tires popped. We were two blocks away (thank gosh, cause I'm not sure where the nearest shop is to Coney Island). Aside from the 30 minute wait, these guys were quick. It was a Saturday afternoon and they had at least 5-7 mechanics working quickly on everybody's bikes. And all it all it came out to be ~$15 for the replacement tube. We were pleased. read more

Spock Of the Cycling World, he knows all and he's the top Dawg in Roys Bike Shop Mech Station the other Mechs At this station are good as well but GERALD is a Stickler for workmanship & Details. Boris-(AKA Mr. Clean) LOL, this Russian Brother is a REAL GEM, Boris helped me out big! THANKS BORIS! And then there's Keith & Alan these guys are real cool people to deal with and also run the whole Day to Day Operations and trust me when I Say that this place moves inventory and it's always busy 7 DAYS A WEEK with clientele of all sorts and because they have been in the Game for a Very, Very long time they always manage to make time for you and answer any questions or concerns you may have even if you don't make a purchase without any pushy sales pressure. I always come back here in the summer because you get to Meet & Mingle with all sorts of Novice to the PRO Road Cyclists that share all kinds of info but, When in doubt go to Gerald he's the Oracle. I'm happy to have a shop so close and am pleased that I have received great service! Friendly service, no condescending sales people, and no one will try to sell you what you don't need. I would like to acknowledge the mechanic Alex for paying close attention to my repairs and helping out in choosing tires while doing a stupendous job installing them! The store is wonderfully ran. They have a great selection of bikes at very fair prices. The salespeople don't push you to buy the most expensive bike. They're extremely helpful in trying to get you the best/most comfortable bike for your budget. They put everything together for you and the owner even thew in a few freebies. Otherwise, they did give us a good price on all the accessories. The store's mechanics are also very knowledgeable and efficient. Their tune-up prices are very fair and the guys work very efficiently, even though they are usually very busy. I've been to this shop a few times... They are known for their service, and I'm a super picky shopper. Weekends and nights, they are extremely busy! It is by far the busiest bike shop I have ever visited. But if you go on an off-hour, mornings possibly, and weekdays before 3pm, and speak to a salesman name Ilya, you'll never want to buy a bike from anywhere else. Ilya knows everything about bikes and his comments and advice ring in my mind as I bike, improving my ride. He says things like Yoda from Star Wars would, that don't quite sink in at first, but make perfect sense later. Anyways, because he doesn't push for a sell, but instead helps you find your perfect bike, I trust him completely. He is the perfect bike salesman. Just don't go when there is a 5 person deep line to talk to him. You'll be waiting for a while! For lack of anything better in the immediate area, I sometimes go here for my misc. biking needs. If I can help it, I order parts online from places like Nashbar for a fraction of the price. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the store staff here have been relatively useless each time - they can tell you whether they have a given product in stock, and that's about it. The mechanics know their bikes, but the fast-food fry cook style of work they do in the repair shop means that you get nothing more than a very basic degree of quality with some used deep fry oil smudged all over your frame for free at the end. If you expect a chain to be clean after a tune-up, you are in the wrong place. There's opportunity in this area for a nice bike shop run by knowledgeable people. read more

Went in to take a look at road bikes today and they took me through the motions of all the different brands. Very straightforward with how you should spend your money and where its worth putting money in and where you should save. Told them what my budget was and ended up going middle of the road at their advice instead of being up sold where it didn't make sense. Spent a lot of time with me and set me up with 3 test rides.
