I would not do business with RR electric HVAC. We spent thousands of dollars with them when they redesigned our system and cut a huge hole in our family room floor for an additional intake. Months later, when our system stopped working (!) on a freezing cold weekend, we called for help and they refused to come out and said that we were outside of their service area. Then today we received a postcard asking for us to call them to come out for a $30 safety inspection. All this company wants to do is get inside your house and start up selling. But when you really need them, they don't show up and are not reliable. I'm tearing up this card. Just had an electrical inspection done by Jose L. and I will say it was a good experience. I let him know right from the start my husband wasn't home so pretty much everything he was going to say I most likely wasn't going to understand. He did his very best to explain it in a way where I could understand... and I was so appreciative. When he arrived, it was around 9am and I was not ready for company. However, he was just so personable and easy to talk to, the whole experience was pleasant. There were recommendations he had but he wasn't pushy in trying to get us to do things... ! There were just good vibes the entire time! My husband and I have had many people in and out of our home recently but he (and this company) by far was the easiest one to work with. Well, I thought I was going to have to write a difficult review today regarding my follow up experience with RR. I had the company install a new furnace for me in December. The last two appointments I had for the final inspections with the City were less than favorable. I had to follow up myself multiple times to get the technician out here to do some final work to get the City to sign off on the job and I was pretty fired up! I scheduled the work for this morning at 8:00 and at 8:30 the technician was still not here and I called the office. Leslie took my call and as always she was pleasant and professional. She listened to my concerns and complaints. She checked with dispatch, she checked the schedule, and when I told her I thought dispatch had made a mistake, and that I was no longer interested in working with the company, I was shocked! Leslie admitted she had made the mistake! She is such a great employee and so honest she admitted that it was a tough day yesterday and she had written down the wrong day for my follow up appointment. She did not want me to think it was dispatch who had done that. I owned my own business for over 30 years and I can tell you there are very few people who would own up to that with an angry customer on the phone. She remained calm and pleasant and told me she hoped I would give the company another chance. She is an absolute credit to RR Electric! Disappointing Experience with Overcharging My recent experience has left me thoroughly disappointed. I encountered a significant issue with overcharging on my recent bill. The lack of assistance to help customers fix their issues and using the temperture outside as a selling point was frustrating. While I have appreciated their service in general this incident has tarnished my trust in the company. I expected better customer service and transparency, especially when it comes to something as essential as accurate pricing. Obviously I said no and the price magically dropped hundreds of dollars due to some error (still an outrageous price). I believed the guy when he said it was a misquote even though he presumably had a functioning brain with basic knowledge of thermostat prices when he showed it to me. But from reading similar reviews it definitely seems like this wasn't a mistake. Avoid this company. Seriously. To the business owner, don't bother with a reply unless you want to talk about refunding my $100 you charged me for essentially having someone show up to my house to ask for money. read more

I had someone from this company come to my home for a minor problem with my pilot light on the water heater. He fixed it- no problem with that issue. I went ahead and signed up for their Cool Club membership for $20 a month. One of the benefits was that they will come out and do a free yearly inspection of my heating and air conditioning system. A few months after the pilot light incident, I received a call from them asking if I wanted to have my yearly inspection done. I said "yes." They ended up giving me a quote of $34,000 to repair my system! An entire new system wouldn't cost that much! I think they saw a single senior citizen and tried to take advantage of me. They tried to scare me by saying I had dead rats in my attic space causing contaminated and unhealthy air to be circulated through my home. I got a second opinion and it turns out nothing was wrong with my system, nor were there dead rats in my attic space. They probably thought I would never be able to get in the crawl space to see for myself, but they were wrong. I might be a senior, but I'm more agile than they gave me credit for. I didn't see any rats. The person who gave me the second opinion said that, traditionally, the first quarter of the year is the slowest for this industry and R&R was just trying to drum up some business. Too bad I wasn't given the option of giving them zero stars. read more

I have a lot to say and some mixed feelings about this company. I also felt we have been really nice about everything. In short, we didn't have a positive experience with one particular technician (details below), but after we raised our concerns with the company, they tried to remedy the issue. Overall, they did a fair job, but it took a few attempts. They also made mistakes that could have been avoided. I would like to give them 3.5 if it's an option. We had previously used NRG as our HVAC company, but they went out of business. RR took over the phone number, and we saw that they had good reviews in general. We hired them to do our 6-month maintenance in April 2024. They noticed that NRG did not install the proper intake for our system and recommended we correct it to prevent putting unnecessary stress on the equipment. We followed through on the recommendation. After they finished the job, our heater started to make a very loud vibrating noise when it turned on, and we had to call them back to fix it, noting that it wasn't secured as tight as it should have been.  In June, we noticed the air coming from the system wasn't cooling. We had them inspect our system. It turned out there was a leak around the coil, in the heater/blower, and also in the area where the vibration was happening in April. Our suspicion was that the vibration had caused the leak. We went ahead and asked them to fix it without bringing up our thoughts. The person who came to our house and ran the testing for the leak didn't ask us to turn off the system, nor did he turn the system off himself, while we waited for them to come back to repair the leak and recharge the system with new refrigerant. It was one of the weekends with triple-digit temperatures. A couple of days later, the breaker tripped when the system attempted to turn on. The compressor overheated and needed to be replaced. Keep in mind that the system was only 2 years old. We had to swap the compressor, which was under warranty. The technician did not tell the service manager that he had left the system running, and after pointing that out, the company replaced the compressor at no additional cost.  The service technician they sent to replace the compressor was excellent; he let us know everything he was doing and answered all of our questions. When he went back to the furnace to check the system and put the exhaust back on, the adaptor was missing, so he had to call in to the office to find out where the other tech had left it. It was after hours, so he was unable to get an answer, so he let us know to make sure to leave the heater off (no problem in this heat) until they could return to reconnect everything. The system is running nicely at this time. They took responsibility for the tech's mistake, but it could have been avoided. They will be back to tidy things up and complete the job next week, as they are spread out servicing other homes in this heat wave. I hope our review is helpful for anyone us looking. Edit: 10 hours after posting this review. Our AC is not working properly again. It was "fixed" 10 days ago. So, I drop my rating to two stars. read more

There are too many red flags with this company to not leave a review. First, getting ahold of the right people is nearly impossible. The woman who handles phone calls is delightful, the only plus side to the company. However, playing phone tag with a company when their services were sporadic and insufficient greatly overshadows their friendly receptionist. Not to mention no email address anywhere, so that their misleading conversations, recommendations, and claims can't be traced in a paper trail. Second, the unit they claimed to be high end was one another company had advised me against. They claimed this was because that other company "doesn't know how to install it properly." Well, when my unit was installed by RR, the installation caused an issue with the wiring connection, which meant I then needed to purchase an expensive wireless thermostat from them to communicate with the system. I can no longer use my Nest thermostat. Next, scheduling the city inspection. I had this unit installed in May, and was told they would be contacting me to schedule the city inspection. This process was beyond messy, including finding out months later that they had never pulled permits in the first place, which is what they are supposed to do prior to beginning the installation. I had to send paperwork back and forth. A city inspection was finally scheduled in November, and I was told it failed for two reasons, one of which would require RR to make a fix before scheduling another city inspection. I had not heard or received anything from RR since the inspection until today. I had gotten a call from RR letting me know it's time for a complimentary system checkup, which is their way of finding new fun ways to charge you. I expressed my frustration regarding the city inspection and got a voicemail later that provided information that didn't align with the info I was told the day of the inspection. So many other issues in between but these three should be sufficient. Please heed the negative reviews. There is no existing email chain and I have not received any calls, so please leave false niceties out of your responses. read more

I had an issue with lights flickering in my house and power surges. I reached out to multiple companies, and RR Electric Heating & Air was the first to contact me. I reached out on a Sunday evening, and they called me fairly early Monday morning and got someone out within a couple hours. I knew it would be $99 for them to come out (the going rate to troubleshoot is $99-$150) so that seemed on par with the industry standard (not something I love, but definitely the standard). The technician that came out was very nice, knowledgeable, and professional. I felt like the solution to the problem was reasonable and realistic. So I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of with regard to the fix. So why the 2 stars? Because what was unreasonable was the price. I was told that I needed to have 100 amp main breaker replaced. I Googled the average for that in California while he was putting together the quote. The range was $200-$600. The quote came back as $2,179. I know what you are thinking... you are thinking that was for a new panel and all new breakers, but no. That was neither what I was told nor what the quote said. In fact, I sent the quote (minus the company and price) to another company to ensure I was asking for the right thing, and they confirmed that it was a replacement of a 100 amp main breaker. After getting that quote, I reached out to numerous companies in the area (some again) to get quotes for a main breaker replacement. Multiple responded with quotes between $250-$350. These are all licensed electrical companies that have been in business for years - not a handyman who may or may not have the proper experience and education. If you are still not convinced that the $2,179 was for replacing a main breaker, maybe this will help. I also received a quote for a panel upgrade to a 200 amp new panel. It was $8,717. To upgrade to a 225 amp panel, the quote was $9,481. My dad got a new 225 amp panel earlier this year when he had solar installed. It was less than $3,000. So while I appreciate the professionalism and the rep who came out, and I am glad I have an understanding of my issue, I think this company needs to seriously reevaluate their pricing. The reality is that I was annoyed with the flickering, and I have a lot going on. So having to talk to multiple people and have additional people coming out was not something I was keen to do. Had I been quoted $500 or maybe even $600, I probably would have said just do it because even though that is the top end of the range and I would have felt I was being swindled a little, I was already paying $99 for them to come out here. So if not so greedy, they could have taken me for a couple hundred dollars extra and gotten away without me posting a review, but $2,100 is insane. read more

RR installed my HVAC unit in Sept of 2018. The owner Richard is a friend of the family so I thought I'd get great service, attention and honesty. Silly me. After agreeing to terms for a new premium brand heat pump / indoor air handler system, I received a call the day before install to say that the system they ordered was the wrong size, so I would need to wait a couple more days. No problem right? Unfortunately what showed up was not a premium brand at all, it was a Goodman which we all know is a base builders brand, not premium. I said I wanted the same brand that we negotiated in the deal and they said it would take too long to get. With no cool air in the thick of summer and two toddlers at home, I had no choice but to accept the mediocre brand. They offered a $500 discount and gave me a 10 year parts / 5 year labor warranty, so I reluctantly accepted. And sure enough the condenser coil broke 5.5 years later, conveniently just after the labor warranty expired. After several attempts to have RR come out, they finally showed up the other day. They quoted me $4,000 just for the labor to replace the broken coil. Not to replace the old condenser that has likely been damaged by the broken coil, just the coil itself. They know full well its likely to break again in a year or two but who cares, this way they'll get paid even more! Needless to say, within one day I've had multiple estimates for a new (actually premium) heat pump, labor, freight and removal of old unit, for less than $4000. I even tried using my 'family friend' card, and the owner's service manager completely ignored my calls and texts. As someone very wise once said, Warranties should never be a profit center, it is a means by which trust is demonstrated and reinforced. In this case, RR has lost my trust. Be wary of them, they don't care about you I promise. read more
