If you arrive during busy hours (the weekend) he will ensure to communicate with you to let you know when he will be able to help you. It is a one man show, so you do have to be patient. This is one of my favorite stops in Pacific Grove. I recently purchased my sixth pair of jade earrings from A Niche in Tyme. They're elegant, distinctive and easily match the quality of something from a higher-end jewelry store up on the Peninsula where I live. There's an assortment of (often local) artists to choose from and the prices are great. The owner knows his stuff and takes his craft seriously. Each "tyme" I stop in at A Niche in Tyme, I am delighted to find a wide variety of jewelry to choose from. I've bought jewelry for myself and for others. And my sweetheart has bought jewelry for me there. The owners go the extra mile with service. I recently bought a sterling silver chain and stone and silver pendant. Chuck made sure that every detail of the chain was perfect, finely adjusting the clasp and the ring holding the clasp to ensure the necklace would not come off accidentally. He made a slight adjustment on the loop that hooks into the clasp so that there would be no resistance when the clasp was in place. I learned of the origins of the stone, the place where the pendant was made, and the place where the chain was made. This necklace is a gift for my dear sister, so I will be delighted to share the details with her. read more

I have a good friend who lives in PG and I have been to this store several times over the last few years. I have always found something I just had to have! His prices are super reasonable and he has such a HUGE variety of jewelry that everyone can find something. He generally has a few pieces of art deco estate jewelry, other estate jewelry and lots of sterling silver of many different styles (contemporary, Native American, Indonesian, etc). You probably need to go around all of the counters at least twice to make sure you don't miss something fabulous! I found a great pair of earrings from a local artist who works with Canadian Jade. The store is very nicely laid out, and their prices are reasonable. They have some $3.00 earrings and pendants that are lovely, and the shop owner converted a couple of pendants to earrings for another customer at no additional charge. Overall an enjoyable visit. I'm very disappointed with the way Chuck handled a recent potential client I sent to him. This person was in a very sensitive situation that I explained to him on the phone. When said person arrived to the store he barely looked the diamond ring and said it's poor quality. When explained that it was registered with all four C's during purchase that was also dismissed with, "I've been doing this for 30 years." Now it's of course fine that he didn't want to purchase but to not even look at it with proper equipment isn't professional. When I called to chat with him, he very rudely talked over me. Still saying it was a poor ring with terrible quality. I then was trying to explain how she took it elsewhere and the person cleaned it and looked it under with equipment and thought it was a fine ring that they could sell for $1,800 and gave her $1,000 for it (it was purchased new for $4,000). I'm not sure how much Chuck heard since he argued and spoke over me the ENTIRE time, to which point I said, "no thank you" and hung up. read more

Adorable and rare find. Such an array of rings and jewelry, high quality and a range of prices for anyone to afford. The cheapest ring I saw was around 8 dollars! I was helped out as I strolled the store, browsing all the pieces in the glass case. I tried on so many pairs of rings to see how'd they look and the sizing, was there for more than thirty minutes with a friend and the lady helping us was able to have us try on sizes and suggest different pairs the whole time through! We came for the ring section, which I believe was their largest one. There's tiny bowls in the case full of different sizing. There's also a lot of a stone rings, and we were told the metaphysical benefits of each one as well. They have engraved rings, celtic knots, even some with cute leaves on them. The shop also sells these small fairy houses for decoration! I really recommend this as a little pit stop when visiting the area and a shop to come to when looking for rings or specific items.
