I consulted several doctors and plastic surgeons for natural asymmetry of my eyebrows and eyelid openness that got worse with age. No one could figure out how to treat it. Dr. Small gave me a level of attention and care that showed she was determined to solve it, and, amazingly, she did. She treated me with precisely placed Botox injections and then had me come in for a couple quick follow-up appointments so she could observe the results over time and keep perfecting it. Over the past 20+ years I've seen / used a variety of different doctors and nurses located geographically from Santa Cruz to San Francisco (and, that's a lot) for both botox and fillers, and I'm here to tell you that Dr Small is the one for me. My experiences in the past ranged from having "duck lips" to having been injected with so much product that my face looked swollen / as if I'd been in a boxing match. No more. Let me begin by saying I'm not a "girly girl". I don't like playing with makeup and hairstyles. That isn't fun for me. I want predictable results, and I don't want to be put into a position to need to reeducate my hair stylists and Aestheticians about what I want my appearance to be like at every single appointment. So, I waited until I'd seen Dr. Small for multiple appointments before writing this review. She, and her staff, have not disappointed. Dr. Small's credentials and academic affiliations, both past and present, gave me confidence in her technical abilities. My personal opinion is that her job is about being an artist as much, or more, than it is about being technically proficient (although, they obviously go hand-in-hand). Dr. Small is able to "get" what my vision is / how I want to look, which is no small feat in, and of, itself. You know when you see people who have had bad botox and filler work? I'd rather risk using too little product than to risk looking overdone, and Dr. Small excels at toeing that fine line. That, combined with providing me with useful recommendations and then executing them all very well, equals a perfect relationship. The staff at RSMD are every bit as wonderful as Dr. Small. Maranda, who manages reception, is fantastic as are Abby, Marissa (sp?), and I'm sure there are ladies I'm sadly omitting...they're all accommodating, professional and kind. No behaving as though you're lucky they can spare their precious time to check you in. There's no "snobby door" at this establishment. I'll update this review if I ever feel any of the above is no longer true, but I can't imagine that happening. I am a new mom and noticed a lot of changes in my skin after my hormones changed. I had a lot of sunspots and new hyperpigmentation above my upper lip that made me look older. Re: EMSCULPT NEO Initially I was hesitant about Emsculpt Neo (bc of the cost). I decided to give it a try when I injured my knee. There have been times that I go to a clinic and i am not greeted by anyone, I sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes wondering if they forgot about me, my questions aren't really answered, and worst of all I feel like I am getting sold on somthing. This was not one of those times. Everything was so efficient, I felt special and as if I had been going there for years (even though it was my first time), and overall, the service was 11/10. I cannot say that I had any work done but the nature of what I was trying to do was a bit complicated, so I had a ton of questions. I ended up getting some Botox which was so expensive a lot more than anywhere else. She was also not friendly unlike her front desk who were very friendly. As a local physician I would recommend Dr. Smalls and her very sweet team. I've so far had 3 treatments here (Hydra-facial, Botox and lip filler). There are very few places in town where an MD does the actual procedures which I think makes a big difference. She knows her products, anatomy, has a plan and you get results. She took A LOT of time and with great detail worked on the areas most concerning to me. I didn't feel rushed or pressured to make decisions. When it comes to your face I think it's important to see someone who really knows facial muscles/nerves/skin and knows what will work well versus what won't. I also found staff to be lovely and warm. Don't let the friendly office personnel fool you. After waiting 45 minutes to an hour after my scheduled appointment, I found Dr. Small to be condescending and borderline rude. Dr. Small was not interested in why I booked the consultation; she had her own agenda. She certainly does not have good "bedside" manner. I purposely did not "dress up" for the appointment and I believe, consequently, my financial status was profiled. There are plenty of credentialed and experienced doctors who listen to their patients. Don't waste your time or money with Dr. Small. read more

Dr. Small says she works with Botox and that is why you are paying so much. I made an appointment for botox regarding a nervous tick I had. She peer pressured me into buying more area treatments because it felt more comfortable for her. She charges by area and offers a free retouch after 15 days. It doesn't save money. You will not be heard for concerns, she refuses to talk about her mistakes. I was offered a 2in1 deal for filler and the 2nd FREE injection did not work like the 1st. I asked her for the "before" photos they took of me to prove to her that her botox did not help and she said that the new system was down and they couldn't find them. She didn't care because she already got the money. I now believe she is using some sort of placebo. Please don't spend your money, and request to see the product before being injected. After you get retouch, you will never get a follow-up for the previous appt. You will get an appointment months later for when you need new treatment. read more
