I stay in hotels the majority of the year for work. This hotel was one that I will remember. First, yes - the rooms are small, but....they do small well. The rooms are uniquely decorated and offer some great views. My room overlooked the water. So, cool view. Amenity-wise, I usually put significant weight of my hotel opinions based on the fitness center, concierge lounge, and restaurants. While this location didn't have a concierge lounge, it did have a really good restaurant. I had some amazing breakfast. Fitness-center-wise, they had enough options and equipment to offer a good full body workout for a hotel. Overall, I was happy with the property and will look to stay at the same place during future visits. read more

The view we got was cool of the harbor and the room was nice but had some issues. It had some water bottles the previous guest left. It had 6 light switches none of which worked, the carpet tacks are exposed and inkept sticking my foot. The front desk staff was 50/50. The lady that checked us in didn't even offer us to spin the wheel so we could get our points we had to ask the other guys standing there. Also the restaurant was awful. So this is a very mixed review, I stay at Marriotts exclusively for work, I love checking out the different properties, this hotel is gorgeous, however it has some operational issues that need to be looked at. We checked in with no hassle, the room was clean, love the decor, love the fact the windows actually open. The A/c not being able to go below 68 is savage, seriously 65 is the norm, I was not comfortable in this room temp wise. The rooftop bar is a whole separate issue, you need to find a way for people to access this besides the 2 guest elevators in the lobby, we waited 20 plus minutes to get an elevator from our room to the lobby as it was filled with obnoxious drunks jumping/singing etc. they were having a splendid time, I just wanted to meet my colleagues for dinner, took the stairs.. as after 20 minutes still could not get in an elevator. Literally take one off line for guests- not that hard to do to make it called with a key card. (I run ops for resorts) this was a horrible afterthought. I came back from dinner at 10pm and once I finagled my way through the crowds it once again took a long time to get on an elevator, when it did open these idiots we're jumping up and down.. a mgr am came over to handle but if this is the clientele you are bringing, rethink your design. We didn't even get to have a beverage on the roof as it was such an unorganized shitshow. read more

The Envoy is a cool, boutique hotel just a short walk from Boston downtown financial district. It's also a Marriott Autograph collection. Admittedly, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but after multiple stays, it's become my Boston go to. The staff is generally very nice and attentive. The bar / restaurant has a fun but relaxed vibe. And the food has generally been quite good. The menu has a slight penchant for south of the border flavors, but it all works well. The rooms are modern in their design, and most of my rooms are afforded a decent view. Most importantly, I've found the rooms to be relatively quiet and well insulated from neighbors and nightlife noise. While Boston has some great hotels, The Envoy is definitely one of the better ones, and if you're looking for Marriott points, then this is the one you're looking for. read more

I was in Boston for work and stayed an extra day to workout at the Equinox gym next door & enjoy the seaport. Hotel was very clean, room was small but nice. I had a partial water view which I liked very much (as seen by the pictures). Bed was comfortable. I was appreciative of the extra throw blanket because the room got pretty cold during the night. It seems they take over regulating the room temperature while folks are sleeping, which I do not like. I'm a light sleeper so the city dumpster truck woke me up at like 4am which is how I noticed it was so cold despite my heat being on like, 73. 73 is usually too hot for me. And my bed was ice cold. Several hours later I was finally able to fall back asleep until housekeeping started banging on my door at like 9-ish. Not cool. According to my app, check out is at 12pm. They came banging on my door again around 11 and it kind of sounded like they were waiting outside my door. Not appropriate. Everything else was great though, but it's frustrating that despite being there less than 24 hours, I couldn't get restful sleep. Housekeepers should not knock on doors before check out time. read more

We were looking forward to our stay but what a total disappointment. I have to say, for a hotel to call itself a "visionary" and "boutique" hotel it might want to reassess. I'm not sure if this is the more recent climate of hotel offerings in the states but the standards have dropped drastically. Our room was not inexpensive at over 300/night but it may as well have had the offerings of a 150/night hotel. Basic amenities such as a luggage stand missing. This is an "Autograph Collection" hotel. Meaning there ought to be more than the basics. No slippers offered, the hair dryer was worse than I've used at an airport hotel, and the linens were rough and uncomfortable. The mattress was awful. It felt like a futon. The only redeeming quality, was the view, and the front desk gentleman who greeted us. He was lovely and kind. Quickly to take our bags and immediately presented us with cold bottled water as the temperature outside had reached 95 that day. He was the only "Autograph Collection" part of the whole experience. Wish I had gotten his name. We also ate at the restaurant on the main floor. Service was awful. It took 45 minutes to get 2 orders of tacos. Had to keep getting up to look for a server to order more drinks. I'm not sure what's happened to Marriott as we have stayed at many other "A. C." Hotels but this one is awful. The majority of their business looks like comes from the rooftop scene. But what about taking care of your hotel patrons? read more

The Envoy Hotel is conveniently located on Seaport Blvd next to the Evelyn Moakley Bridge and the US Federal Courthouse, within a quick walk to the biopharmaceutical, technology, and professional services firms in the Boston Seaport district. This Marriott-affiliated hotel offers visitors a somewhat non-traditional hotel experience with its modern aesthetic, including the rooftop Lookout bar and restaurant that offers guests fantastic views of downtown Boston, Fort Point Channel, and the Boston Harbor with reasonably priced (for a hotel restaurant, at least) food and beverage options. Despite the ridiculously expensive room rates at peak times, The Envoy is intended to be a three to three-and-a-half star hotel.. so don't expect all of the amenities you'd find at a full-service Marriott, such as an ice machine on every floor (pointed out to me by the front desk associate), a valet to pahk your cah, or a bellhop standing ready at the check-in desk to carry your bags up to your room. I had reserved my room ahead of time on Marriott.com and check-in/check-out was very easy. My room on the 2nd floor faced the back of the hotel and, through the floor to ceiling windows in my room, I could see what folks were eating for lunch and dinner at the adjacent Barking Crab restaurant. The room was very clean and featured a comfortable king bed with updated furniture, a large LED TV with plenty of content, a reasonable workspace with easy-to-connect WiFI, and individual HVAC controls that made it easy to manage the temperature during the night. My room was also equipped with a dorm-sized refrigerator with a freezer and a small coffee maker with four coffee pods (but no microwave). As is becoming increasingly common in certain modern hotels, the bathroom is separately enclosed with frosted glass sliding doors (to maximize the use of the space), but doesn't offer the privacy of a fully-enclosed room. The sink had plenty of space on the vanity for my personal hygiene items and this hotel has made the transition from providing individual bars of soap and bottles of shampoo/conditioner to refillable wall-mounted dispensers. The Envoy doesn't have its own parking garage. Parking is available in the garage across the street from the hotel at One Seaport Garage @ 75 Sleeper Street. PRO TIP #1: The mandatory $25+tax/night resort fee covers WiFi; bicycle rentals; and includes a $20 F&B credit to be used in the bar, restaurant, or room service (but can't be applied against additional gratuities or taxes that apply to all F&B purchases). PRO TIP #2: If travelling to the hotel from Logan Airport, take the Silver Line SL1 bus from the terminal to the Courthouse stop and walk half a block to the hotel. Parking: no valet even though in the seaport area of Boston. Parking garage across the street...care the elevator puts you out on the other side of building. Staff: very friendly and one of the reasons they got a second star. Room: there are 12 light switches in the room and some don't do anything. It feels like they went to IKEA for their supplies (see photos). You cannot walk past the tv without having to turn sideways to fit by. At night you can hear something in the walls, not sure what but wigged me out. Careful with the plate glass walls in the room too. It doesn't feel like a Marriott location, more of a motel feeling with the partially tiled floor and no box spring beds. We reserved a room block and hosted a welcome party at The Envoy for our wedding weekend and, unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations and were underwhelming. The Suite designated for our wedding day photographs had not been properly cleaned, and despite requests from bride/ groom for assistance for a simple wipe down, there was no follow-through. In addition, there was a strong and unpleasant odor in the room that lingered on our belongings even after checkout. We later learned that several of our guests experienced similar issues. For such an important occasion, the level of service was disappointing. Do not expect anything special for your wedding. The location was redeeming. read more

This review is for their rooftop, which is on the top floor. I came here on a Saturday night with a group of friends and it was half full. Luckily we didn't have to wait, but sometimes there is a line. There is no cover charge. It was still chilly out so they have two igloos with pretty lights that you can rent out with friends. Also there were heating lamps outside, but unfortunately only one of them worked. The drinks are pricey here and pretty much everything is $20. The crowd was a mix of young and older. The bar is pretty spacious and there are a few tables available inside and outside. The best part is the view! You can see the nearby bridge, Boston skyline, and the waterfront. read more

While Marriott usually knocks it out of the park, the only outstanding feature of this hotel is the daily housekeeping service. The lobby looks like a rundown dental office. The rooms are all glass exterior which is noisy and odd since this means you can sit on the toilet in full view of the harbor. The decor is over-contrived, ugly and awkward at the least. Weekend motorcyclists are so noisy that sleep is almost impossible. Friday/Saturday line wait for the elevator to go to the rooftop bar is annoying. Hotel seems to cater to the crowd least able to afford its rooms. But if you are an 18-yr-old female with tall black boots and a bun-hugging micro mini it's totally your jam. read more

Good location; our 2nd floor room overlooked the Barking Crab restaurant. It was a mid-week stay on a brutal winter day so there was no noise as folks were not out in droves. We used the parking directly across the street ($40 for overnight). A "contemporary" Marriott with all the usual trendy and at times strange features. As usual room was small but adequate. I truly enjoyed my stay here. It was my first time to Boston and the hotel is in a perfect location! Just 15 mins from Quincy Market. If you like the night life they have a fun bar upstairs which is also a restaurant and a few night clubs literally just a few feet away. The room we stayed in had an amazing view of the Boston Inn Harbor, loved waking up to that view! The rooms are so clean and the bed is one of the most comfiest I've stayed in, I like how the rooms are modern and unique looking also. Staff was very friendly and I just loved my stay! read more

I had a nice stay here. No complaints. Stayed here 3 nights on a recent business trip and it was a nice experience. The staff were very nice and helpful. I got a room on the fifth floor facing a fitness club across the street. It was very nice clean and comfortable. I especially appreciated that the hotel had umbrellas you can borrow to bring with you on rainy days. It rained for two full days while I was on this trip, so the umbrella became really handy. The bathrooms are very clean and modern. And there is a restaurant on the rooftop of this hotel that you can eat and drink at. Very convenient. read more

I've had the pleasure of staying at the Envoy several times. It's a boutique hotel right over the bridge in Seaport next to the barking crab and fan pier park. It's on the pricier side with the rooms fairly compact. The bathroom is really cool with a large shower and lots of glass. In the actual room, 1 wall was glass facing the harbor so we had magnificent views. The hotel is centrally located to a lot to a lot of things so walking makes the most sense. To get to the T takes a bit of a hike so for us Uber was the way to go if leaving seaport (it was oppressively hot that weekend). It's now self park which is just as convenient in the underground lot directly across the street from the hotel. This is definitely a good option if staying in seaport read more

I sat down to get comfortable & was greeted & told there was an event & they had to clear the area where there was seating. I could stand at a table in the sun instead. There was another area for seating but you needed a reservation for that area. In short- if you can't accommodate your guests because of an event, close the area for the event. If you can't do both then don't. I feel like I got ripped off on this one. read more

The hotel is nicely situated near the Boston wharf area. I got an upgraded room with the view of the water and it was very nicely appointed. Clean lines throughout, good size room and high quality amenities for showering. The one negative was that whole there was coffee in the room it did not offer any tea bags. The AC worked very well as well -- quite important to me. The bed was a little on the soft side so I woke up with a bit of an aching back, but nothing too bad. Terrible experience. First off, this hotel is very expensive and for the price we didn't get what we payed for. Went for a girls weekend. Attempted to check in at check in time, 3pm. The woman at check in said our room had not been cleaned yet. She said to give them another hour and check back in. We got a drink at the bar and attempted to check back in at 4. They stated again that unfortunately our room was not clean and it would be another hour or so. This is unacceptable. We were told that their premier guests get to check out when they please and unfortunately the premier guest staying in our room had not checked out until late. Thus, making our check in delayed by hours. How is this okay? I have never in my life been delayed a check in due to a room not being clean. We had dinner reservations at a restaurant and needed to get ready. Where were we supposed to do that? Oh the PUBLIC RESTROOM was what we were told. Yup the public restroom that is shared by lobby guests, restaurants and bar guests as well. We took our bags and made ourselves at home in that restroom. Curling our hair, brushing our teeth, doing our makeup around other guests trying to use the restroom. This is UNACCEPTABLE! We then made our own drinks in the lobby. The poor women at check in were lovely and trying their best. The lobby was filled with other irate guests whose rooms were also delayed. When we asked to speak to a manager, the women let us know that the lovely manager had taken the weekend off. How thoughtful of him! He took off and let his employees handle the mess. In the morning well before check out we also got a knock on our door by housekeeping "checking to see if we had checked out". Never have I ever experienced this. We were comped some money off of our very hefty bill. We will never ever be staying at the envoy again and would not recommend anyone stay here. read more

It was magnificent! A glass of prosecco paired beautifully with the food. The dish was specially prepared via Chef Tatiana. Perfect gnocchi with the sweet shrimp and a wonderfully flavorful light tomato based sauce with perfectly sliced scallions. It was so delicate and divine. Perfectly seasoned and made with loving intention. I savored every single bite! Between Chef Tatiana, Tiffany at the front desk and Mike Pittman the manager, I may just want to make myself a permanent resident here at the Envoy! I felt so valued and taken care of. So if you want to bring guests in from out of town or treat someone special please bring them to this hotel and sit on the rooftop or eat downstairs. It is more than just a meal it is an experience and I encourage you to come experience the Envoy Decor Exquisitely decorated. Lights and artistic touches with attention to detail is wonderful. Awesome! Beautiful hotel in the of the waterfront. Walking distance to lots of shopping and restaurants. Close to South Station if you are taking the train. We walking to dinner (Babbo) and the Movies. We were given access to Equinox gym which was last cared across the street. Rooms are beautifully and simply decorated in soft off white and light wood tones. Very nice bar and vibe. Great drinks and attentive bartenders. Good food as well. We had a delicious breakfast at a lovely window seat overlooked ng the Barking Crab. They offer "igloos" at the rooftop bar which are see-through heated teepees/ tents with seating and bar service. We popped in Friday night after dinner to check them out. Interesting concept. The offer heat lamps for those unfortunate souls who do not get a seat in the igloo. A line started forming in the lobby at about 4pm for this sought after attraction. read more

I am a Marriott fan with 7+ years of elite status. I absolutely love the Autograph collections that Marriott introduces into the market. This was an interesting stay at the Envoy. Here is my take on my 3 night stay at the Envoy. Pros: easy to walk to local attractions, guests enjoy direct access to the rooftop bar, hotel is very clean, great views from the 6th floor room where the beds face out to the water, and front desk staff who are very professional. CONS: the rooftop has very bad hours so that you cannot fully enjoy the views (they can easily close the bar but leave the rooftop open for guests only), the long lines for the bar tie up the elevators for guests (we had to wait for almost 10 mins in the lobby just to get an elevator to our room after a long day out in the city), and our last morning at the hotel we experienced the cleaning crew dragging chairs across the rooftop bar floor while cleaning it and it made loud sounds that woke us up at 8am. They should NOT drag chairs and tables across the floor of the rooftop bar knowing there are guests in the 6th floor trying to relax and sleep at 8am. Side note: The toiletries they offer have mixed reviews. Hand soap is AMAZING and have herbal citrus smell. The body shower gel is grapefruit and amazing, the shampoo and conditioner have omega 3 and omega 6 oils in them which do not make a very pleasant aroma when washing your hair. Personally, I like the shampoos and conditioners which have a more fresh finish (but that's my personal opinion and did not add or subtract from my rating for the hotel). read more

Booked a room for my parents for a one night stay last week- they were becoming US citizens and I unfortunately couldn't join (I reside in LA these days) but as a nice surprise I booked them a room here since it's across from the govt building where citizenship takes place and because I'm a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member. I reached out to the hotel general manager Joe who was awesome. The staff upgraded the room and did something special (bottle of champagne, cheese plate etc) for them in the room to help them feel welcome. I was not impressed by this hotel. I called through Marriott to book this stay at the Envoy. Many hotels offer "first responder" discounts, so when I called, I inquired as to whether this was offered. The representative stated that they would offer me the military discount rate because my fiancé is a firefighter, and I am a registered nurse in an emergency department. When I came to the hotel, I was asked for his ID by front desk staff and was told that the military discount was not intended for us. I explained that I called to make the reservations (not online) and the representative offered it to us. They told us that they disagreed with that and to "be advised for next time". When we arrived to the room, we were underwhelmed. The "partial water view" was a short view of the bridge and a busy street. Very loud and only on the second floor. There was ketchup on the floor dried by the window. There was a record heat wave at this time (in the 90's Fahrenheit) and the AC was OFF when we came in. Room was extremely hot. The curtain also would not close and the creak of the opening shined on the top half of the bed, making the room bright and hotter. I went to the front desk to ask for a different room and they explained to me that they would not give me another room because they had rented out the entire 4th and 5th floors to one family party and had NOTHING available for our same room rate. Did not even consider an upgrade considering our room clearly was not cleaned well upon arrival and had a terrible view. Our room also had a terrible layout - separate toilet and an open shower. Almost no space for clothes - half a hanging space (wrinkled the bottom of ALL my dresses) and two shallow drawers. We ran the AC for 7 hours before calling for help with the AC because even at the lowest set temp (68) it was HOT. Each time the housekeeping lady came, she would shut off our AC. Why??? Sleeping in was hard because the light from the curtain wouldn't close all the way. Traffic was very loud outside. There is a rooftop bar and it was SO LOUD that you could hear the crowds from the elevator in the second floor. The first day I was there, the rooftop was closed entirely for the same family party. Guests should be advised when these hotel features are booked exclusively for other guests - I would have considered another hotel. When I did end up going on on the hotel rooftop another day, it was empty. I sat down and my fiancé and I each ordered a drink and some brunch. At the end, our waitress very rudely informed us that we EACH had to purchase $50 worth of liquor to earn a table there. This was not told to us, nor was it listed on any signs or on the menu. I took pictures of everything. I'm almost certain those girls working the bar were just trying to cheat us out of a bigger tip by saying that because it was not busy and not listed anywhere. I would never recommend this hotel again. Terrible experience for my 31st birthday - would NEVER book again. P.S. our coffee maker did not work, the room had barely any light, and there was no room service from 11 AM - 5 PM! read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my one night stay at The Envoy. My room was beautiful with its sleek modern design and artwork. I loved the interesting bicycle TV stand, luxury toiletries and comfy slippers. The shower was beautiful and spa feeling. The room came equipped with an Ily Coffee/espresso machine, complimentary bottled water and a full length cotton hoodie/robe. I did appreciate all the little extra touches. And the room was spotless and perfectly temperature controlled. I have no criticisms. When I checked out, the young man with bleached blond hair and warm smile was delightful. I wish I could have stayed longer. I would recommend if you want to splurge on a great hotel located in the heart of the Seaport. Really lovely and I will be back. PS. I heard the rooftop bar is the IN place but I didn't have an opportunity to get up there. Next time! read more
