Solid Mexican place in the Loveland/Fort Collins area. Lots of people were dining here on a Sunday afternoon and it was rated high on Yelp and Google. It didn't disappoint! I ordered the combo 3 from the lunch menu which was the burrito with green chili sauce. I got carnitas as my protein and I loved it! It also came with mashed pinto beans and rice. By all indicators this is the kind of restaurant I love, and perhaps on another day it would rock, but our experience didn't live up to expectations. We ran out of salsa early, and our waiter said he'd bring more, but he forgot. (We flagged another server and she took care of us.) Later, my wife remarked to me that the grilled chicken in her Burrito Deluxe was chewy, and I had been thinking the exact same thing about the strips of steak in my Chile Colorado. As an aside, this restaurant has a PIF - a special tax that goes not to support Loveland city services, but to the developer of the property. Businesses and developers existed long before PIFs - they aren't necessary and should be opposed. read more

I ordered the carnitas plate, there was a rock I didn't see in the refried beans, and I bit down pretty hard on it. I told my waitress and the manager came, he immediately acknowledged that there may be rocks in the beans based on how they process/clean them. I have eaten at Mexican restaurants hundreds of times and that has not happened before. The manager said I would get a discount on my meal, and the drink comped. When the receipt came I didn't notice the drink wasn't comped. My waitress said she didn't get approval for a drink comp, they ended up giving me $15 cash to compensate. Went once and won't be back. The food was decent and the drinks were fine. My issue was, the female bartender that was serving me, attempted to charge my card with a bogus charge, after I had paid my bill. She came back and falsely stated that the payment didn't go thru fully and then charged me for 14 glasses of milk. I called the manager the next day, he said "what the hell?!", returned my payment and apologized. That bartender should be fired over this. NO excuse for this B.S.! read more

This was our first time to visit Ruben's. Have the say, the service was just okay, and our meals weren't great. Just one example, the steak fajita salad was literally a bowl shredded lettuce, some sliced green pepper (not cooked), and a few pieces of steak meat. We arrived shortly after they opened, so it was relatively quiet. Side note: One of the kids with us went to buy a toy from one of the dispensers - which ate their quarter while a staff person watched and didn't even acknowledge what happened. If this were the only Mexican restaurant nearby, we'd probably try them again sometime - but there are much better Mexican food options (food, price, presentation, and service) within only a few miles. Came in with group of friends, the place was busy and packed. Tuck in the corner of crossroad and Clydesdale you might miss this location unless you saw the restaurant sign. We all ordered different menu, mine was Birria tacos came with rice and bean. The meat was tender, tastefully good, but I had it better, it comes with rice and beans. I chose flour tortillas which might be better in corn tortillas. Big selection of menus and there is something for everyone. Portion is decent and there are wide desert options as well. Never tried this place before and wanted to try the chimichangas. Got shredded chicken. Came with refried beans and rice. Also got chips and salsa for extra. The total was $24. On their website the chimichangas were supposed to be $16 so it's like almost $7 or $8 for chips and salsa I guess... The chicken was dry and tough as hell. Tortillas were not crisp AT ALL. Refried beans were bland and boring (didn't have cheese on it either which every mexican restaurant ive ever been to always puts cheese on) along with the rice. I really don't appreciate being served food that was heated up in the microwave. How can you charge $24 for that??? Horrible food. Wish I could get my money back. Never recommending this place. Went to Reuben's a few Fridays ago with friends for the first time. I tried to join the waiting list online and that feature didn't work. When I tried to call ahead the phone just kept ringing and was never picked up. We ended up waiting about 15 mins for a table, not bad! Food was exceptional, I got the chicken fajitas and other had steak fajitas, enchiladas and queso. Our server seemed to be in a hurry to take our order and head out for the day.
