How is this place in business?! It's beyond disgusting. I got a beef fajita bow and my friend gif chicken fajitas. It came out way too fast to be remotely fresh or recently cooked. The chicken was tasteless and barely edible. The beef, if you call it that, was the grossest beef I've ever tasted. It was so tough, had zero flavor, and tasted boiled. It was completely inedible. When I hit our servers information and told him it was really bad, he challenged me. I told him it was disgusting and inedible and he took it off the bill. Avoid at all costs. Food was great, service by Lauren and other employees (didn't get their names) was superb, polite, respectful, efficient and didn't seem fake like so many of today's restaurants. Restaurant was clean as were the restrooms. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. Ambience was perfect and not loud or overwhelming. My kids ate all their food and enjoyed it immensely. Pretty good Tex-Mex. The restaurant is located in an old Victorian and the patio/deck area looks amazing. (It was raining when we stopped in so we obviously opted for inside.) The chile rellenos were deemed outstanding by one of our friends. The enchiladas were better than average. I ordered two street tacos (a chorizo and a al pastor) and a side of rice. I got my tacos but had to remind the waitress about the rice. The portion of rice that was delivered was bigger than my taco plate, but it was good! ISO good Mexican food in Colorado Mi Cocina is ok. FAST Review Food: love me some chips and salsa, but the chips were plain, the salsa was bland. Our food came out super fast, but the chicken in the street tacos were dry, like they had been in the grill for a long time. My enchilada dish was decent, I ordered it spicy and it had some heat but not over the top. Atmosphere: we sat outside and it was really nice. No music playing, that would have been nice. Service: The host looked bored out of his mind, but let us choose a table outside. The best thing this place has to offer is the waitress. I never got her name but she was great. This is our go-to classic old school Mexican Restaurant. We go at least once a month. We prefer the outdoor seating as it is nicely shaded and very open. Indoors is noisier, but fine. Food is consistently very good and we usually do a "pick 2" choice on the menu. I really like the black beans and my spouse likes them refried-- both are great. Chips and salsa come free with the meal and are very good. Staff are nice and pleasant and food is always served hot and delicious --not a long wait. read more

We went for dinner on a Sunday around 6pm- expected to wait a bit. We were seated right away, served with chips & salsa almost immediately after being seated. Within a few minutes the waiter cane with waters & to take orders for any other drinks & food. I ordered "Enchiladas Zacatecas" & my husband ordered one of the burritos. After reading all of the rave reviews about this local eatery (which is called Cocina & Cantina as of Jan 2023), I finally got around to checking it out recently via a takeout order. First, let me say that I am a huge fan of non-chain restaurants and was so very much hoping to love this place. It was absolutely the worst "Mexican food" I have ever tried in my life (and I "could" even lump Taco **ll into that category to emphasize the point.....). First, we had burritos with red sauce and I asked if they had any tomatillo salsa for "on the side". They gave me some type of warm green chili with huge, greasy chunks of pork in it (not at all what I asked for, and it was too greasy for either of us to entertain eating). The red sauce on the burritos was absolutely gross- more like sugary, runny ketchup. The refried beans were soggy, bland, and not a grain of salt detectable anywhere on the entire plate. The rice was more than likely cooked with double the usual water as it was extremely waterlogged and flavorless, and the chips and salsa were also extremely stale and flavorless. I think we ate a total of 6 bites each of everything, then ended up throwing the rest away and making sandwiches for dinner. If I thought the dishes we received were an anomaly, I'd give it another chance, but they didn't look poorly/quickly made nor was the restaurant poorly staffed or terribly busy when we picked up. I just honestly think that those are the ingredients they use and the flavors are WAY, WAY off (not Tex-Mex, not Yucatan, and not anything traditional Mexican). Add to that the fact that their prices are a bit over the top (they charge separate charges for chips and salsa, for example- $4 chips/$4 salsa as of this review), and I won't be going back until/unless there are new owners/cooks. NOTE- Pay attention to your charges! This business tacks on extra % charges on your credit card to make you cover their charges from the CC companies. That is something that business owners usually eat as a "cost of doing business". read more

The staff are still friendly and inviting. It sounds like I wasn't the only one complaining about the quality of the food a handful of months ago. And the food has gotten better since then. Upon arrival, we stood in the entryway for a considerably uncomfortable amount of time before someone greeted us to seat us. We were seated and provided with food menus, but not drink menus. That said, I wasn't even sure if they had a bar at that point. After another long wait, our server came back and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We established at this point that there is a separate drink menu. We finally figured out what to drink at about the same time we were ready to order food. Like everywhere else, prices are high. Good grief it seemed overpriced for what it was. That aside, my food was pretty darn good. I simply ordered three street tacos (Carnitas, shredded beef and grilled chicken). They do not have shredded chicken on the menu, but the cubed chicken was tasty. All of the meats were tasty. The house margarita was as one might expect. It tasted like it came from a standard premade mix. Overall, food was pretty good but service left something to be desired. Long waits between requests or even the opportunity to ask for anything. We've been going here for quite a while, mostly for the margaritas and chips. Here's my two cents worth: The young guy that sears customers really needs to greet the customers, smile, engage people, and try not to look like he feels he hates his job and making eye contact/saying hello/welcome/saying ANYTHING is a chore. The house margaritas are great. Potent and inexpensive. The food: zero flavor. We usually order fajitas because they're pretty safe. They are basic and bland but edible. We decided to try the enchiladas and were very disappointed! The only thing that had any flavor was the cheese. The chicken was not seasoned at all and very dry. The beef was just ground beef, again with no seasoning. The beans were as bland as beans can be. Wait staff is friendly, no complaints there. If it weren't for the fact that our town is small and we have very few options for dining we wouldn't eat here. But the patio is great and we can't pass that up. I'd love to see it under new ownership or management that would take it up a few notches. read more

We came in on Mother's Day and were able to get a seat immediately. The guy seating people showed no personality and did not even speak to customers as he sat them. He was rude and acted like he was being bothered. Once we were sat, we waited for about 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. I had to ask for a drink menu because when we were seated the guy did not bother giving us one. The salsa lacks flavor and seasoning. It's boring and pretty flavorless. Based on the salsa, we decided we would not have a meal and ordered the chili con queso. They also have queso fundido which I don't like because it is always so stringy and hard to eat with chips. What we got was just like queso fundido. It was OK but not great. It had better flavor than the salsa. The margarita I had was well balanced and was delicious. This place needs to hire a bartender that can make a margarita. Paid $12 for an ultimate marg and got something with sweet and sour in it not fresh squeezed lime juice and agave. Also a simple smothered bean burrito with sour cream and guacamole and got a burrito filled with rice and cheese, so you have A cook messing with peoples food. Lunch menu is very good, huge portions and reasonable flavors. The food has been Americanized and the heat has been dialed down so it is more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican. I lived in southern AZ for many years so I know authentic Mexican, and what is served here is not it. It is decent for the type of food that it is.
