I had them come out and look at what I needed (rock replacement, tree and bush removal, irrigation repair. They asked me to submit an email about which bushes I needed replaced and with what kind of bush. I didn't know, so I told them to just remove the dead bushes and I would let them know what I wanted replaced later. I did that and they ghosted me. No response at all. I needed some yard work in the front of the house fixed. After looking on Yelp for installation services, Ruben's Lawn Service populated in the search engine. I had called in and left a detailed voice messaging of the yard work that needed to be completed. I texted and work with Gina, scheduling a "quote inspection." I also provided her pictures of the front-lawn. After reviewing and providing the information to Ruben, he had quoted out $250.00 for some sod replacement in the front yard. Ruben came out a week after speaking with Gina to take a look at the scope of work. It was pretty straight forward job and mentioned that his team would be able to come out to the house to fix the yard the week after. Gina and Ruben scheduled me for a Monday at 9:00 A.M. I hired Ruben and his crew to do some work at my house. I needed a few palm trees trimmed and some weeds pulled. And just a general cleanup of my yard. My dad had used Ruben a couple of weeks earlier for some work at his house and recommended him. I called on a Monday evening and Ruben came by the following day to give me an estimate. It was a little higher than I wanted to pay but I was going to be in trouble with the city for code violation. What can I say, my palm tree got a little shaggy. So I accepted Ruben's offer and scheduled for the following Wednesday. Ruben and his crew showed up today a bit after 8:00 in the morning and got right to work. The crew worked fast and they worked hard. And they were fairly quiet. I hardly knew they were there at all. I did not even hear them leave. But I walked around my house to see that everything was done and done well. I could nitpick if I wanted to and say that there were a few things not done up to my exacting standards but let's be honest, they did a much better job than I ever could. And a lot faster than I could ever imagine doing myself. I will be sure to use Ruben and team the next time my trees need a trim or my yard needs weeding. read more

I'll try to keep this simple. I paid for a retaining wall to be completed but they deemed it complete at 90%. The contract clearly states "complete retaining wall, materials and labor included", and yet, here I am going to my local hardware store to finish a wall. I am considering legal action and hope to at least save one person from this headache. Update: 1. We agreed on $1650 did we not? I didn't ask for a discount, I negotiated this price as there were competitors that were charging similarly. You worked and finished on Friday. Payment was complete Saturday morning (God forbid people have to work for a living and don't want to pay 4% extra to use a credit card) so how hard was it to get paid exactly? Also, does this wall look finished? If you weren't going to complete the wall 100% then why would you alter the plan of ending the wall at the pavers like we had original discussed? The contract states "materials and labor included". Those blocks are material are they not? Lastly, Ruben TOLD me during the appraisal that he would trim the neighbors branches that were impeding on my property. That was not an additional task. read more

I called for an estimate was given a time frame Ruben would arrive. 10-3pm I let them know that I would be available between 10-1pm if it was after we could do another day as I wouldn't be home. They called that he was on his way about 1:15pm and since I was still home I let him swing by. He was here for 10 minutes let me know he couldn't do most of the work without irrigation or that technically he could but wasn't responsible if it didn't survive the summer. I understood and appreciated the honesty. He did mentions he could cut the tree in my neighbors yard and I was happy to hear that and get something scheduled. He said he'd have someone call me with an estimate and schedule. 5 days later I called them to schedule because no one reached out. I let them know that Veterans Day after 10am would work great for me as I had to inform my neighbor and also had to do an early airport drop off. They said they would schedule for after 10 but would call the day before with an exact time. Cool, fast forward to today when I didn't get a call but a text message at 5:49pm confirming for 7:30-8am. I was confused as this is way early the I requested. The person who text me was unprofessional and very rude blamed me for canceling an apt that didn't work for me after I had explained all of these in my previous calls. First off, just let me say that they do great work and everyone is very polite. Our issues are with the quote's, the pricing when the crews arrive, follow up appointments and any pricing that is associated with future visits. Our first quote was arranged with Gina with detailed pictures and a pleasant conversation. When Ruben arrived he quoted over $100 more with follow up visits being a set price. We paid and enjoyed a nice refreshed landscape. For our follow up visit (supposedly) every other month, never happened in the timeframe as stated. A month later (now dead middle of winter) we called and the crew arrived. This time the price was quoted the same as our first visit. When I asked why, I was told because it was past the every other month standard. When I questioned why they never scheduled out follow up, Gina stopped communicating with me and went to my wife. They came to an agreement, we paid and enjoyed our winter landscape. Now it's been a month and they actually scheduled the follow up. Crew arrived did the basic maintenance and when it came time to pay, our new on-going price is now the amount we settled with from the previous visit. My gripe is with the continuity of their pricing, follow up, and honoring what they quote. If "Ruben" says it's going to be $125 onsite, then I expect to pay $125. Not $150, $250, or $325. (listed values are examples only) Their website is very nice even though you cannot be invoiced through it. (They only offer Venmo or CC via voice) I'm confident there is a company out there that is fair, consistent, and that offer the same level of quality. What Ruben and his crew went beyond my expectations. They blew out pines and branches that were in my front and backyards as if it were their own home. I lived in my home for eleven years, had five different lawn providers throughout that time period and never had a company do such a magnificent job as Ruben did for my home.
