We were in the area and hungry. I had a deal on my app so we picked rubios for lunch. There's a good sized parking lot that gets busy due to the many restaurants, but I've always been able to find a spot. We walked in and there was a short line. The older people in front of us were having difficulty figuring out the app so that took some time. Once they figured it out the line moved quickly. We ordered 2 fish tacos and a bowl of tortilla soup. They have a salsa bar with quite a few options so we chose our salsas. Then we sat to wait. It didn't take too long to get our tacos. The soup took quite a bit longer, but we ate our tacos while we waited. They were light, fresh and crispy (much better than my last experience a year ago at another location). When the soup came I was surprised by how much flavor it had. We needed a quick lunch and this hit the spot. I'll definitely come back to this location in the future.

Bumping Rubio's up to 5 stars because this location really took my dairy allergy into consideration and left a nice note which made my day. Food is always delicious and that chipotle salsa is so good I'm dreaming of the day when they sell it in bottles. Also saw they are doing really economic friendly prices like fish for $7 and buy one entire get the second free. We need more spots like Rubio's.

I've gone to a lot of Rubio's over the years and I like their original fish taco and I like the Mexican corn shrimp taco, but today there was something added that was really unusual for a fast food type restaurant. As most of you that read anything I write know I love service. Today we were served by melanie who loves the two terms, yes dear and love. She says them both with such true kindness. That's so rare in this type of business. I would go back just to hear yes dear. A great way to close out 25 and know that the people still love their job thank you.

We ordered burritos and tacos to go today. I wish we had checked the food before we left- "gourmet" chicken tacos without the avocados, bacon; a bean and cheese burrito made with MOLDY cheese, not lettuce or cilantro, cheese. We used to go to Rubio's several times a week, but the quality has tanked, and with the steep rise in cost, it's just no longer worth it.

Chicken bowl with plastic food wrapping

Found PASTIC WRAPPING IN my FOOD, when confronted the store manager about it he asked if I took pictures and once I said no he took my bowl and threw it away. I said I need it for evidence and he said no you don't get any and walked away...too bad I got some anyways. Did not offer refund, replacement or any customer service His name is Luis alvarez or something like that I tried to contact distract manager but on one got back to me. Over the years order from this place we had issues with hair, other food wrapping and now this and never did we complain. Now after getting belittled by the manager this is no longer acceptable.

Friendly staff ,good food, plenty of options and good quality. Menu changes from time to time with new items to try. They have desserts and alcohol too. Parking lot is a hassle to get in and get out. Too many businesses in this strip mall leads to too much traffic and rude drivers. However I do like having Rubios so close to so many other places for 2 stop shopping. Rubios burritos are large, tasty, and you can get chicken, shrimp, steak, etc. There are plenty of menu options that should appeal to everyone. Rubios has a rewards program as well, and you can get free items as you accumulate points.

Ordered the Small Boston White Clam Chowder ($6.99), 3 Piece Fish & Chips with fries ($21.99), and the Sea Bass Plate ($25.99) which came with two sides - opted for Spanish rice and black beans. The clam chowder was just okay and nothing particularly special. The sea bass with garlic butter was a little bland and definitely needed some hot sauce or tartar sauce for extra flavor. The Spanish rice also tasted like it had been sitting out for a while and was a little dry. I did appreciate that the black beans came topped with some cheese and were served in a little tostada bowl - a nice touch. The fish and chips were hands down the best thing we ordered. The fish had a super crispy batter and the fries were crispy as well. Definitely the standout of the meal. Pelly's is located in a shared plaza with Ralphs, so there are plenty of parking spaces available. Both indoor and outdoor seating and it's a counter-service setup where you order at the counter and they'll bring the food out to your table.

Alone or with a group, it was a super cool place to go. IT'S NOT THE COOL PLACE IT USED TO BE I gave up a few months ago ordering the whole broiled artichoke which used to be amazing but now is always small, tough and burned. The sand dabs I ordered last night were mushy, greasy and tasteless. The Parmesan 'crust' was soggy. I had to ask the bartender 4 times for lemons (none came with the dish) because she would only give me 3 tiny slices at a time - perhaps they are being rationed due to Strait of Hormuz related supply chain issues? It's possible the complimentary sourdough bread is being rationed as well. IT'S NOT THE COOL PLACE IT USED TO BE In the past this restaurant was lively with all kinds of fun and warm interaction between staff, regular customers and tourists; now it is just hectic and loud. In the oyster bar area there are tv screens literally everywhere so the vibe is more sports bar-like than the vibe of a quality oyster bar. I no longer trust the quality of the food and I no longer enjoy the staff who's attention is vapid rather than warm and welcoming. IT'S NOT THE COOL PLACE IT USED TO BE

I love that everything is intended to be shared so you can try a little bit of everything. FOOD REVIEW: * Cornbread - strawberry, basil, goat cheese, balsamic. Absolutely delectable, moist and flavorful with every bite. * Prawn - ember roasted, prickly pear, mezcal, candied habanero. Literally so good, fresh and full of flavor. * Tomato - smoked blue cheese, piquillo pepper, meyer lemon, opal basil. Very fresh and great for summertime but nothing you can't make at home if I'm being honest. * Broccoli - chermoula, lime, peanut. This was unbelievably amazing and not your typical broccoli. I'm sure even those who don't like broccoli would enjoy this. * Crudo yellowfin - aji amarillo, charred avocado, guava. Omg, I loved this and could have eaten the entire plate by myself. The aji was just enough without being overpowering. * Pork belly smoked - stinging nettle, snap pea, wasabi. Once again, another amazing dish. It had that melt in your mouth kind of texture and was so smooth but not spicy. * Octopus - smoked celery root, spanish chorizo, basil chimichurri. Really amazing & tender + it was recommended from our server since "you can't just get good octopus anywhere" and I 100% agree! They have a fairly extensive drink menu as well with lots of delicious options. I will say their espresso martini is especially pleasant and isn't too sweet. There's street parking in the front or a bigger parking lot in the back area. The place is not air conditioned so keep that in mind if visiting during hotter months. I'm not from the area but I'm already dreaming of the next time I can visit.

Outstanding Dining Experience in Carlsbad!…read more We booked a large group reservation here during our Carlsbad/Legoland trip, and the team was incredibly accommodating from start to finish. The ambiance was absolutely fantastic, delivering a polished, fine-dining experience with very reasonable pricing. The meal was overall delicious, and while there are already plenty of five-star reviews, a few specific details stood out to us: The Starters Excelled: We actually found the creative appetizers and starters to be the absolute highlight of the meal (my favorite was the oysters but everyone had their own!) , even outshining the more expensive entrees (notably the steak which was a little underwhelming, though the fish was good). The Famous Broccoli Lives Up to the Hype: Yes, the roasted broccoli was truly exceptional! Superb Drinks & Kid-Friendly Touches: The craft cocktails were delicious, and we appreciated that they are highly accommodating to families with a dedicated kids' menu. Room for Dessert Improvement: The only miss of the night was the baked Alaska, which we didn't particularly love. I think I would try the Smores and/or head over to the nearby ice cream shop for another local flavor. Overall, it is a wonderful, highly versatile restaurant that we would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area. We can't wait to return!
