Nothing but great things to say about our Rubio's experiences in general - food is always consistently tasty and enjoyable (even if not traditionally authentic), and the employees are always kind and friendly. Tonight's visit raised the bar on how kind and friendly Rubio's employees can be. Busy night, with a large catering order that wiped out the remaining black beans and rice - both of which are required for my Ancho Shrimp Burrito I placed on my app order Darius got ahead of it, and tried to call me to make accommodations before I arrived, but the phone number on my account was never updated to the new one - points to Darius for attempting to resolve the issue before I got there rather than being simply reactive! Once I arrived, Darius explained the matter, with grace and tact, and offered any substitutions I may like in his best effort to leave me happy with my final order. He was patient and kind throughout the process. Ana was my final contact and she was just as gracious and apologetic as Darius, and she too did her best to make me feel valued dispite the situation (which could happen at any restaurant BTW). As an FYI for those who have not worked restaurants - the old saying around misfortunes, "it usually comes in threes" applies - when one thing goes wrong, a number of others will too, dispite your best preparation! Just to many moving parts in a food establishment to insulate yourself from any domino effects. So I promise you that when I arrived to grab my order, 5 minutes before closing, the rice and bean shortage was just one of many issues Ana and Darius were having to juggle. That left me even more Grateful for the way they both put aside thier situational frustrations, showing nothing but genuine care and concern around me being satisfied with my dinner order. read more

First red flag is never eat somewhere that wants to close early. I was confused because lights were on but all of the seats were up. I googled their hours first because it was very confusing. Second you walk in it smells like chemical cleaners, because they are in close down mode, so the entire place is toxic smelling. Third , I paid for additional sauce, and was prompted for an additional tip option. Fourth... the burnt lemon they chose to serve. Literally ordered two items an hour and 15 minutes before they close and literally everyone gives aweful services. Ma'am , ma'am have you been help? Aight... We were in the area and hungry. I had a deal on my app so we picked rubios for lunch. There's a good sized parking lot that gets busy due to the many restaurants, but I've always been able to find a spot. We walked in and there was a short line. The older people in front of us were having difficulty figuring out the app so that took some time. Once they figured it out the line moved quickly. We ordered 2 fish tacos and a bowl of tortilla soup. They have a salsa bar with quite a few options so we chose our salsas. Then we sat to wait. It didn't take too long to get our tacos. The soup took quite a bit longer, but we ate our tacos while we waited. They were light, fresh and crispy (much better than my last experience a year ago at another location). When the soup came I was surprised by how much flavor it had. We needed a quick lunch and this hit the spot. I'll definitely come back to this location in the future. read more

I've gone to a lot of Rubio's over the years and I like their original fish taco and I like the Mexican corn shrimp taco, but today there was something added that was really unusual for a fast food type restaurant. As most of you that read anything I write know I love service. Today we were served by melanie who loves the two terms, yes dear and love. She says them both with such true kindness. That's so rare in this type of business. I would go back just to hear yes dear. A great way to close out 25 and know that the people still love their job thank you. read more

I wish we had checked the food before we left- "gourmet" chicken tacos without the avocados, bacon; a bean and cheese burrito made with MOLDY cheese, not lettuce or cilantro, cheese. Found PASTIC WRAPPING IN my FOOD, when confronted the store manager about it he asked if I took pictures and once I said no he took my bowl and threw it away. I said I need it for evidence and he said no you don't get any and walked away...too bad I got some anyways. Did not offer refund, replacement or any customer service His name is Luis alvarez or something like that I tried to contact distract manager but on one got back to me. Over the years order from this place we had issues with hair, other food wrapping and now this and never did we complain. While the food is good, this place sucks. At the height of the lunch hour rush, there was only one cashier taking orders. This resulted in the line being out the door and around the building. So much for a competent manager! And they were out of pinto beans! Most napkin dispensers were empty and patio area was littered. Friendly staff ,good food, plenty of options and good quality. Menu changes from time to time with new items to try. They have desserts and alcohol too. Parking lot is a hassle to get in and get out. Too many businesses in this strip mall leads to too much traffic and rude drivers. However I do like having Rubios so close to so many other places for 2 stop shopping. Rubios burritos are large, tasty, and you can get chicken, shrimp, steak, etc. There are plenty of menu options that should appeal to everyone. I try not to judge a location on customer service but this location jus reminded me to come back and leave a review. Today it's the service when I arrived to pick up a order! Why have a pick up station that's not properly managed or have customers treated like they can't read? Im not sure what the issue is with this location. I was motioned to go ask the cashier, who had about ten people in line with one cashier. It was lunch time, hence the reason for the app order. I began to wait and pulled out my phone. The same employee that motioned me over to the cashier yells to the cashier that I'm here for a pick up. He could have just helped her really quick idk. Then she asked me what's the name? I told her. Then because she's doing too much, she just stares at me briefly lol, I literally said idk what you want from me, a order number? Then she got all aggressive and says, I didn't ask for your order number, what's the name? I repeated it and told her I just told you my name and then she grabs the to go bag and gives it to me. This location is in Bressi Ranch and I'm pretty sure they don't have a theft problem on to go orders at Rubios. The little food police need to stop or how about don't have a pick up section or use the wasted capital to do better. This Rubio's in Bressi Ranch is such a nice one. The workers we've come in contact with have always been really helpful and have smiles on their faces. I'm guessing this means they are treated well and enjoy their job. Hopefully! It's hard for me to vary from my favorite: The Original Fish Taco plate, but I've tried a couple of the bowls lately as well. They've been really good. Especially for a fast-food place. I appreciate that they have weekly deals and lunch specials. The prices are very decent for this day-and-age. Plus we get coupons mailed to us and can redeem points on our app. SO many reasons to choose Rubio's. read more

Rubio's in Bressi Ranch is my favorite of all the Rubio's Grills. The prices are super reasonable (if you have the coupons or buy the daily special) and the dining room and patio are pretty spacious for a restaurant in this area. I love the selection of healthy fare, but most of all, I come for the fish tacos (fried). This is the standard of all Southern California baja-style fish tacos and it's so awesome that they started here in San Diego! The service is always fast and courteous and it's a good value for the offerings. I appreciate this clean/cozy dining space and frequent this place every other week. read more

PSA - they have Wild Caught fish options - way to go Rubio's! Often times even nicer more formal dining places around here don't even serve wild caught fish, it's usually farm raised unfortunately. I was very excited to learn they have Wild caught Mahi Mahi or Salmon and the bonus is you can choose for it to be grilled or blackened. I highly recommend blackened! It's delicious and delivers a ton of extra flavor. I order a blackened salmon taco - keto style! So instead of a tortilla it comes on a crispy cheese "tortilla" and it was super tasty. Their chicken tortilla soup was surprisingly great quality too! It was really good, not too salty and totally satisfying. Love that it comes with a side of tortillas too and lots of fresh avocado. I just took off one star because the fish was a little "fishy" but I'm sure it was just an off day, it was still fantastic and I would order it again. I love writing great reviews. It's a proven fact that the result of a positive work environment increases profitability and productivity. But it also promotes safety and a great customer experience. I watched the kitchen operation from the dining room and saw one person in the kitchen warn another about a "hot working surface" 250 degrees. She was relieved for the warning, they did a high five. Nice. The theory of practicing great "Psychological Safety" means less accidents because associates are not afraid to warn each other. The customer service here is also great. They greet each customer with a "welcome" and a "thanks for coming." I have a daughter with special needs and we come here a couple of times per month. The team here shows such courtesy and kindness. I told the team member in charge that kindness is free. And that the team working here exudes that. Way to go team Rubio's. This place is filled with rude employees! I went to grab my lunch on my lunch break and as I went to find seating I slipped and fell completely back onto the ground when I was able to get my self up I almost fell again. I went to the front and asked them to put a mopping sign in the front and their response was " we have on back there" and I said "no you need one right here in the front where I just fell!" They didn't care and continued to keep mopping while the restaurant was full of guest eating and walking on the slippery floor try to walk carefully so they wouldn't fall like I did. Horrible my back and tail bone still hurt from falling hard to the floor! i love the food from rubios but this one has pretty bad service even when the store isn't even busy (i came after the dinner rush at 7:30pm) i tried to consider that they were understaffed but there were a lot of people working. first of all, i stood in line for at least 10 minutes (max 3 parties ahead of me) just to order, so i gave up and ordered online because it was faster. second of all, they said my food would be ready at 7:31pm after i ordered it at 7:18pm (2 burritos in the order btw) which was already a pretty hefty wait time. i went up to ask at 7:31pm and they said there were still multiple orders ahead of us. they STARTED making the order that would supposedly be ready at 7:31pm at 7:39pm. i finally got my food at 7:45pm and would not recommend coming here if you're hungry. they gave us pity chips to "make up for it" even though i changed my side order from chips to rice. id advise to come here at least an hour before you even get hungry. second worst service i've experienced (pizza port, also in bressi ranch, being the first) read more

I placed my online home delivery order on the Rubio's Coastal Grill Restaurant website that said www.rubio's.com today at 12:57 p. m. this afternoon on my computer at my home. My delivery service was Door Dash and my delivery driver's name was Amy. I ordered the one quantity of the Classic Shrimp Burrito it includes the (grilled Shrimp, Mexican Rice, no Baked Pinto Beans, Fresca Red Sauce, and I ordered the added Sour Cream to this Burrito) for $1.00 extra charge. This Classic Shrimp Burrito included the side of Tortilla Chips and the regular size beverage. So I ordered the Mango flavored Brewed Iced Tea, (unsweetened). The price was $11.29. Then I ordered 2 Sides - which was the one quantity of the large size Mexican Rice and one quantity of the Large size No Baked Pinto Beans it was $2.29 for each order, the total cost for 2 orders is $4.58. Finally, I wanted to order a dessert, I browsed the Rubio's.com website and looked at the Dessert Menu. I decided to order one quantity of the Gluten Free Honduran Chocolate Brownie, the price was $2.49. This subtotal for my order was $19.36.The Delivery charge was $1.99, the sales tax was $1.51 and the Driver's Tip I had chosen the 15 percent tip it was $2.75 this Grand Total was $24.61. My order from Rubio's Coastal Grill Restaurant was picked up by Amy the delivery driver at 1:04 p. m. this estimated arrival time was (40 minutes). My Home Door Dash Delivery Order from Amy arrived (10 minutes earlier) to my front door. I received my Order within (30 minutes) and Amy the delivery driver knocked on my front door. Amy was very friendly to me when she handed me my order. Amy was wearing a (face mask) and she complied with the Covid-19 Guidelines. I put the Classic Shrimp Burrito on a large plate and then I opened up the foil wrapping to this Burrito. Then I sliced this Classic Shrimp Burrito in half with a knife. I started to take small bites of this Classic Shrimp Burrito, this Burrito was HUGE and it was very DELICIOUS. The Fresca Sauce that was combined with the Sour Cream that I paid the $1.00 extra charge for on my bill made this burrito more moist and very flavorful. The Grilled Shrimp inside this large burrito was very good and there was also a very generous serving of this Grilled Shrimp infused thorough out this burrito. I couldn't stop eating this very Delicious Classic Shrimp Burrito. After I finished eating this Shrimp Burrito, I ate the Tortilla Chips, these chips were very crispy and not greasy at all. Then I put some of the Mexican Rice and the No Baked Pinto Beans in separate bowls. I heated up these (two side dishes) in the microwave oven for 35 seconds. I started to eat the Mexican Rice it was very fluffy and good and then the No Baked Pinto Beans has Mozzarella Cheese melted on the top of these No Baked Pinto Beans. These Pinto Beans were very tasty. My beverage was the Mango flavored Brewed Iced Tea it was unsweetened and it has no sugar added to it. I added my own sugar but only one teaspoon to give this drink some flavor. This Mango flavored Brewed Iced Tea was refreshing and very good it complemented my Mexican meal this afternoon. I was very FULL and couldn't eat anything else. I did order the Gluten Free Honduran Chocolate Brownie. I love Chocolate! I did have the opportunity to eat this Honduran Chocolate Brownie tonight at 7 p. m. with a cold glass of milk. This Brownie has large pieces of chocolate chips inside this brownie and when I was eating this Honduran Chocolate Brownie tonight, it has a (cake like texture) and this Brownie was very (moist and delicious!). The size of this Honduran Chocolate Brownie was perfect because it was (rich but not too sweet). The price is $2.49. My Rubio's Coastal Grill Restaurant order for this Classic Shrimp Burrito, the side of Chips, Mexican Rice, the No Baked Pinto Beans plus the regular size Mango Brewed iced Tea was very delicious! I loved eating everything from my online order today. I also received (excellent customer service) from Amy this Door Dash Home Delivery Service Driver. I talked to Amy for a few minutes, when I opened up the front door to receive my order from her. Amy said to me that she enjoys working as a Dasher Home Delivery Driver and she gets a lot of food orders since it's Covid-19 now. Amy was wearing a (Face Mask) to comply with the Covid-19 Guidelines. I highly recommend ordering online from this Rubio's Coastal Grill Restaurant Home Delivery Service. I will order again from this Rubio's Coastal Grill Restaurant because they have really (delicious Mexican Cuisine) and (excellent customer service) from the Door Dash Delivery Service. read more

Ordered through DoorDash and we have previously had good food from here. We ordered two plate of original fish tacos, 2 fish tacos al la cart and chips with guacamole which cost us $46. The prices are clearly higher when ordering delivery, which we were willing to pay, however the quality of the food was super disappointing and made worse by the amount we paid. The fish tacos were over cooked, maybe double fried to warm up and there was no white sauce on the tacos. I've had these before and it's clear our order was not up to the normal expectation and were extremely dry. We had to make our own sauce at home to use. Employee mentioned most diners they have had so far have chosen to eat outside on the patio, but we are making progress to normalcy. I recommend putting the order in before you get there, you never know who put in a large order before you arrived. (It took 12 min to get my salad.) I stopped by to place an order for take out. I ordered the Balsamic & Grilled Veggie Salad. It was ok. Not exactly what I was expecting. The veggies looked smaller and a little overcooked compared to the menu photo and the avocado slices I was expecting, turned out to be guacamole. Additionally, I'm not sure if I got the Balsamic dressing. The one I got was very light I'm color, I've never seen a balsamic dressing that color, so I asked. She told me it wasn't a balsamic dressing, but it was the one that went with the salad and they only had two types of dressing available. So I kept it. It tasted ok. According to the menu, it's supposed to have a lemon agave balsamic vinaigrette, so it's possible it was correct...but then the employee was mistaken and doesn't know what she's serving. So...I've marked them down a few stars because #1 either the employee needs training on what she's serving or I didn't get the dressing I ordered. #2 the employees need a little training in the COVID world. If you touch something customers touched, like the credit card machine, then you shouldn't touch the food without changing your gloves. read more
