I got a $5 off in their rewards program that was expiring today! Staff were very personable and provided excellent service. I noticed a steady flow of people coming and going. Lots of to go orders. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Staff also very conscientious about making sure the place was clean and the salsa bar was well stocked.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I offered the gourmet steak tacos combo. I didn't realize it would have bacon but it was a nice surprise. The melted cheese on the tortilla was so good. Rubios is a fan favorite for a reason.

Fast casual restaurant where my go to here is the fish tacos especial. You can either get flour or corn tortillas. The fish is always super crispy. Unfortunately I ate both before I took a photo I was so hungry. If you don't like fish the street taco - steak is pretty good too. This location is in a shopping center area so lots of parking.

The staff at this location makes this Rubios GREAT Very helpful manager. Assisted me with getting the App downloaded for our Free Churro on Churro Day! We had a great meal. So fresh, healthy and tasty.

Rubio's still has some of the best fish tacos in town. And their rice and beans have vastly improved in the past years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went to the Mission Valley location and although the food was good, the tables were very sticky and dirty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Other than that, if you're just craving classic baja style tacos and there isn't a seafood truck near you, Rubios will always be a safe, reliable choice.

If Carla is working I recommend you go to a different location. She has a huge attitude towards customers and can't handle this place when it becomes busy. She will take her stress out on you. I was very calm and told her kindly I get your busy but she still talked to me with attitude and made like I was less of a customer when the food was messed up and just wanted the food remade. I will be following up with cooperate on this matter this kind of service is uncalled for

Website photo of fish n' chips. : )

I love their fish burrito with black beans, but ordered the fish n' chips today. Big mistake. It looks nothing like the fish n' chips on their website. They use the very same fried fish patties on the tacos. They must be guppies, because they were no bigger than a french fry. My cat enjoyed them though. I've taken a picture of it alongside what they purport to serve on the website.

Thanks to Rubio's Rewards, I earned a free plate of their new fish & chips, regularly $7.99! Looks good, eh? The plate must be *very* small.

Came here to redeem an offer for free fish and chips. How could that possibly disappoint? The photo looks good. Well, that must have been a very small plate. The 2 pcs of fish that arrived -- after a half-hour wait -- were tiny. Laugh out loud, silly amounts of tiny. Were they minnow? The lemon slice is practically the same size. Accompanying my paltry pieces were plenty of fries and something pink I had to ask the server to identify. The photo doesn't do the color pink justice. It was neon, Pepto-Bismol pink. Apparently it's slaw. (She specifically didn't say cole slaw; maybe this doesn't meet the definition.) About 80% liquid. I drained an entire go-cup (such as the ones at the top of the photo) up to the rim with that pink stuff, and still the cabbage swam in it. Not much flavor to it, but it added some crunch. Typically this costs $7.99. Given the prices they are getting away with for everything else, I guess it's not that bad. But really, it's kind of a joke. The people were nice but service was very slow, although it didn't look busy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice to have bathrooms that are unlocked, clean, stocked, and roomy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    "No fresca"

Ordered two things for take out and both were incorrect. The tacos with "no fresca" basically had ONLY fresca and barely any meat. The burrito was supposed to be steak not chicken (there is a price difference). Double check take out orders!! Seems like they are trying to rip you off!

Rubios always delicious. Rubios feels and tastes healthier than most food spots. I have been here a couple times and it is always good. I got a California bowl this time with chicken and salsa verde. Delicious. They use to have huge reusable bowls and now they have these recycled one time use plates. There is a salsa bar and limes, lemons, cilantro with onions and Jalapeños. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is clean. Saw two workers cleaning while I was eating here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Known for its fish tacos but my favorite go to items have to be the 3 taco trio, the quesadilla with chicken or steak and the California bowl.

We really enjoy Rubio's! At a previous location they had stopped serving mango habanero blackened mahi mahi and they have it here! Got to enjoy a bit of nostalgia. Someone had made a mess of one of the tables but the staff was gracious about getting it all cleaned up. The location is convenient and ambiance is nice for a good quick meal. Would come back again for sure!

This is one of my go-tos for a quick reliable, healthier and delicious fast food option! You order at the register then sit down. There is a fresh self serve salsa bar, I love their red salsa! I've had many options from their menu and am always happy. They have an app for promotions and ordering ahead for takeout to make things more convenient but you can always order takeout in store as well! This most recent visit, I decided to try their new featured dish: the langostino lobster bowl. I was surprised when they brought the bowl that it included tortillas. When I've ordered bowls in the past they don't come with chips or tortillas and have always thought that would be a great addition. The only thing I would suggest is that you offer the choice of corn or flour tortillas or chips. I received flour tortillas but would have preferred corn or chips. Thanks for always being a great lunch/dinner with friendly workers and delicious food!

By far the worst Rubios location I've ever ordered take out. Two star just for the sweet cashier. I ordered California bowl with chicken and no rice for 12$, but more like a can of black beans, some chicken, and a teaspoon of guacamole. Very disappointed and will not go back to this location.

It's a casual spot, but the food leans more chef-driven and thoughtful. We started with the breadsticks and truffle butter simple, but really well done. The crispy portobello mushrooms were one of my favorites, super flavorful with a great texture. For drinks, I had a margarita and a bloody mary, both solid. For mains, we ordered the tri-tip sandwich (aka "Cardiff Crack") and the chicken sandwich. The tritip especially lives up to the hype really tender, packed with flavor, and easy to see why it has that nickname. Dessert is what stood out so much . The butter cake comes warm with ice cream and purée, and it was easily the highlight of the meal. I took a bite and just paused for a second it's that kind of dessert Overall, a really good spot if you want elevated comfort food in a laid back setting. I'd definitely come back, especially for that butter cake and tritip

Great for lunch hour or a weekend date. Update: Came back today with my friend and we ordered the B3 and the Turkey & Cheddar Mousse sandwiches, plus sides of potato salad and cucumber salad, and a double chocolate cookie with pistachio and sea salt. Everything was really good, but the Turkey & Cheddar Mousse sandwich was the star of the show. The cookie was great too. We both agreed the potato salad could use some salt, but besides that it was a solid meal all around.

I use a 3-strike rule when I go out because having worked in food service I understand stuff happens, but this was not just a one-off. Firstly, the man that took our order was rude, there wasn't anyone behind us waiting to order and the cashier spoke SO fast and cut me off multiple times. I felt rushed but whatever. I ordered the stuffed French toast and added bacon, eggs, and hash-browns with a latte, my fiance got the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and black coffee. The latte was really good, and the hot coffee was great according to my fiancé. We waited close to 45 minutes for our food, they were busy obviously, as it was a Sunday morning, but we watched a few other couples get their food before ours. We got everything we ordered except my eggs and bacon, which the food runner said would be "right out". While I waited I ate half of my hashbrowns, which were lukewarm, I wanted to eat my eggs with the hashbrowns so I waited. I ended up waiting 10 minutes before I got up to ask an employee to check on my food, as I received only half of what I ordered and had been waiting so long. He went back and brought my eggs and bacon, but go figure, the food wasn't hot! None of what I ordered was hot, so clearly the food had been sitting. You would think after waiting so long for your food it would've been fresh. Lastly, there were pieces of egg shell sprinkled across my stuffed French toast. How does that even happen unless they were cracking eggs near my food or had egg shells allover their hands. The stuffed French toast was good after I picked out all of the egg shells, and I couldn't finish all of it, so I asked an employee who was restocking glasses where I could get a to-go box. He told me to ask the cashier 6 feet away, and that the boxes are behind him, but the cashier had a line to the door so obviously I didn't want to bother him. I ended waiting until the guy was restocking glasses directly in front of the to-go boxes and he got me one. All in all, terrible customer service, lukewarm food, long wait, and very much not worth the $75, and I wish we could take our tip back, that you pay BEFORE receiving any service.

Fried Shishitous: Pretty average appetizer dish to share. They tasted great and luckily, no one got an extremely spicy one. Pretzels with Miso Beer Cheese: The miso beer cheese sounded so interesting and was why we decided to try it. The pretzel was average and unfortunately, the beer cheese was very clumpy. The head chef came out and mentioned that this was something they were having trouble with and I hope they've figured it out! Katsu Sando: I was most excited to try this and it ended up being my favorite! The katsu was super crispy and juicy. No complaints here! Longanisa Burger: We liked everything except for the guacamole, which felt a little out of place. I didn't even realize that there was a yuzu cream because it kind of just blended in with the guac. We mentioned to the head chef that it might be better if there were some crispy onions for texture and that would fit a bit better with the Filipino theme of the burger. Chashu Tacos: Comes with 3 pieces. Not sure if the flavor is comparable to chashu but it was good. Adobo Loaded Fries: We chose adobo as the meat since we already had the other protein options in other dishes. I think they nailed the adobo meat and flavor for the fries but I didn't necessarily think it was the best pairing with fries. Or I wish it was a bit more saucy so the fries could get some of that adobo flavor too. This is their first brick and mortar store and I hope they succeed! The head chef/owner came out and asked us if there was anything that could've been better and he seemed very receptive to our ideas.

Coming back to send my love to my favorite sub place…read more I've sadly moved to a different part of town so Fatboy's is no longer a few blocks away. I still try to stop by every few months as this place holds a special place in my heart. A no frills spot. Solid and consistent. To the point but friendly customer service. Fantastic drink, chip and snack selection. Sandwiches are always bomb asf. The hot momma and BLT loaded up is my favorite. My husband still loves their Ruben (it is his favorite place to get it.) You get a small potato or macaroni salad on the side with a pickle (perfect crunch.) I personally think it's a great little add on. Their chili is also simple but delicious. I personally think their chili pairs perfectly with any of their sandwiches. It's not a heavy thick chili. Which is why I think it pairs so well. I won't lie it's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. It's loaded up and good quality. I never feel gross or overly bloated after eating here. I will be coming back to Fatboy's until I move out of San Diego or die. lol. One of my favorite gems in SD. Always will be worth the drive or walk. Thank you for always delivering even years later.

I used to frequent Fatboy's because it was close and convenient for a long time, but I am rarely able to visit anymore... parking is a bigger challenge every day in North Park, and finding even a 15-minute spot takes way longer than the drive for me now (but the walk is too far to pick up a quick meal). Today I was down the street for something else so decided to order a sandwich. I was excited, then my jaw dropped when I saw the price increases. It's $18 for the North Park Club now, with no extras. I already had a hard time justifying $15 for a sandwich but I'm officially, 100% priced out now. I know it's not necessarily on the business owners; rent is exorbitant in NP, profit margins are small in the food service industry, and operating costs are high. Our city is eating itself alive, but thank you for the years of sandwiches!
