We decided to have a fish taco on a Tuesday, so we decided to go to Rubio's for the Original Fish Taco. Ordered the two taco combo with refried beans and chips. The fish taco was good, pretty nice size fish chunk. The cabbage had red cabbage which is sweet. The white sauce was the same, as well as the chipotle salsa which is always good. I was a little confused. When did they go to a lemon slice? It's always been a lime slice that would be included. We were satisfied with what we had. Enjoyed being together and remembering how the "Original" Rubio's in Pacific Beach started it all. Service was amazing and Reanna was very helpful. Well, to start the music was incredibly loud. I could barely hear the cashier. I paid nine dollars for a flat burrito, full of just beans. Then I do the survey to get a free drink; and the man says I have to make a purchase. Outrageous. I have been eating here for 15 years. Not anymore. I placed my order with Marcie and ordered the Seared Shrimp 3 Soft Taco Trio it includes No Baked and Cheese Beans with Tortilla Chips. I also ordered one Fruit Punch Soft drink. My total bill was $17.00. I am enjoying eating the 3 Seared Shrimp Soft Taco Trip . This seared shrimp is very tender and so delicious and healthy for my lunch time meal. Each Shrimp Soft Tacos has a unique texture and amazing flavor.. The No Baked Refried Beans with cheese has the perfect amount of spices. And the Tortilla Chips were very crispy and delicious! I like to come here when I'd prefer a lighter option for Mexican seafood. They definitely have chicken and beef options, but honestly, the seafood is cooked really well, and the chicken tends to be on the drier side. My go-to is the Mexican street corn shrimp taco plate because they FRY THE CHEESE on the tortilla, which is amazing. They cook their shrimp very well, so you can't go wrong with any shrimp option. I'm waiting for the lobster tacos to be available at this location (only available at the Claremont Mesa location). The building is fairly standard for most Rubio's, which is clean and brightly lit. There's generally ample seating, but the chairs lack cushion. The service is almost always prompt unless there's a lunch rush, but I still haven't had to wait more than 10 minutes for an order even if I haven't called ahead or ordered online prior to coming in. read more

This location every time I've been there is poor at best and I've been there 15-20 times over the last couple of years. I love Rubio's but might have to stop going there unless corporate does something about this store. Today 15-20 minute wait at 7pm, there were more employees in the store than customer, WTF! In addition they were out of avocado and limes!! Any decent management person would have sent someone to local grocery store and bought them for the day. Need to give an update after returning years later. 2025 downgrade with all Impossible food removed from the menu. They now have nothing to offer vegan/vegetarians except super basic and bland food. I tried the tortilla soup and it was disgusting. It was also not soup. It was a rice bowl with zero flavor. The worse part was there was 1 table and me waiting Togo. 6 team members. All talking amongst themselves while and elderly man was trying to get their attention for a knife. 3 ladies literally had their back to the front. I actually told the man where to find the knife. I've been coming to this location weekly religiously for over a year. I usually either get a bowl, or my ultimate favorite, the classic chicken taco with flour tortilla. Their chipotle dressing and the lightly toasted tortillas are so delicious. Especially on taco Tuesday where they're only $2.5! I also love the mango lime refreshment. I have been going here for years. I prefer this location over the one on East Valley Parkway near Home Depot because I think the food is better here. Food seemed a bit different yesterday, though. I ordered my usual mahi burrito. The whole burrito looked grilled. The tortilla was dried up with brown grill marks, stiff and hard to eat. I thought they might be doing it for the takeouts so that they don't get soggy, but for dining in, it may not be necessary. I prefer my tortillas warm, soft and chewy, like before. I have the app so I use it all the time but today the app was telling me to change my payment method so I just ran In to place my order. It's time for the langostino Lobster so I needed my fix. I was in and out probably five minutes. I ordered the bowl. I asked for extra lettuce, wasn't in there but no big deal I just chopped my own up and added it.
