Best nails place in Chicago. I have been going to them since their opening and never had a bad service. It's extremely clean and cutely decorated. They have extremely comfortable massage chairs. My favorite thing is 'Volcano Spa Pedicure'' ,for $20 more on top of a normal pedicure , you receive extra treatments and get a 10 minute foot and leg massage. The perfect treat after a long day. On top of all that, you can pick out nail designs on Pinterest and 9 of 10 times, they can do the design. I ALWAYS get compliments everywhere I go and my gel nails still look good after 5 weeks! For customers who complain about Dip, they should really switch to gel manicures. Dip absolutely ruins your nails, that's why they are probably messed up, especially if you have fine nail beds. Gel makes your nails way stronger, allowing the manicure to last over a month. Getting gel off is much easier today than in the past while dip still messes your nails up when removing. Then, they have quick dry nail polish that I get on my feet. It dries fully by the time my manicure is finished. It might just be me but my toe nails last a month too. However, expecting a dry fast nail polish to last more than a week is rather hopeful. Again, gel gives you so many opportunities to decorate your nails in many ways, stronger. Most of my friends have switched to them. I almost don't want to write a review ,so the secret gets out, but these ladies deserve the appreciation! They are true artists and so kind! I've always had a great experience with CiCi--she is detail-oriented and consistently does excellent work. However, today's checkout experience was very disappointing. The manager was rude, pushed me to use Venmo or Zelle instead of my card, and directly said a 20% tip was not enough, which felt very uncomfortable and pressured. This was unprofessional and raised concerns about fair treatment. I have tipped 25% in the past because of CiCi's service, but this was inappropriate. I would prefer not to deal with this manager again and expect this to be addressed. read more

Walked in on a Sunday noon. Nice brightly lit place on Lincoln Ave by Irving Park/Damen. I came for the first time for a pedispa. The tools were packaged indicating disinfection (one hopes). There was a box containing the kit with numbers in them, salt scrub, lotion etc. but the technician didn't seem to be aware of how to use it. I can tell that the others when coaching her how to do it. This is fine because it's shows that their community is helpful. And she did massage my lower limbs well. The one thing that I was not very happy about was the cuticles were not cleanly removed, I had asked for them to be removed but this was the best that she can do perhaps. In the pictures you can see it. This is infortunate because the nail polish also becomes rather jagged and not smooth. Otherwise front desk and other staff were friendly. read more

We were looking for a place to get a mani pedi in the area and found ruby. We stopped in around 130 on a Friday and they had an appointment for 230 so we came back then. They did a great job with both of our mani pedis. I got the dazzle dry on my hands for a bit extra so I'm excited to have it last a bit longer. I also got an eyebrow wax for $15 and they did well with that too. Overall it was relaxing and fun! Good spot in the area. Unfortunately needed to update this review a couple days later and knock a star off. I got the longer lasting polish and the nail polish fell off over half of my nails after a couple days! It's supposed to last a week. I did notice they had a sign in the bathroom that said that you can go back and get it fixed if there is an issue within 7 days but I don't have time for that as a working mom! read more

I have been getting dip on my nails for 5+ years. I recently moved so I was looking for a new spot closer. Unfortunately this will not be it. I got dip and within a week multiple nails completely popped off (something that has never happened to me before) and most nails had lifted up from my nail beds. I went back and they redid two of my nails, but those fell off as well. To remove the nails, they also used this gel that burnt my skin-felt like an acid burn. I would be willing to go back for a pedicure, but if you are looking for a good dip manicure that will last, I would not recommend. Although the service I received was not worth the money, everyone who worked there was very nice and the place is very clean. read more

I absolutely love Ruby Nails! I've been going there for years and highly recommend it to everyone. All the nail technicians are very professional and they offer high-quality services. Every time I'm there I feel very relaxed and appreciate their attention to detail. I always feel very welcome when I walk in through their doors. Over the past year, I changed over to Dazzle Dry nail polish which was recommended by the owner and it had help maintain healthy nails. 22 minutes for a 40 dollar pedicure, and I still have dry skin. I don't understand how they charge so much for so little time? I admittedly went here because my usual spot was not available today. I got not application at the end to make the polish stay/harden. No massage of calves/feet. And by the time I got home, one of the nails had already lost some of the polish. I made an appointment here for a no-chip mani and pedi. When I arrived, I stood at the front for 10 minutes before anyone greeted me and told me where to sit. My pedicure was *literally* 20 min - they filed, lightly scrubbed/lotioned my feet and painted my toes. No scraping, no massage, nothing. Those are reasons I get a pedicure so I was pretty disappointed. When I asked the nail technician if they scraped the heel, she said no without even looking up. My manicure was fine, nothing special. When it was time to go, I asked if they had spray or oil for my toes to ensure they were done. They just said "no, they're dry" and put my shoes on. This place is wildly expensive for what you get. I paid $75 and was out the door in an hour. The 2 stars is for the cleanliness of the salon - very clean and comfortable. But overall would NOT recommend. read more

I had a service from a new guy, who was in general very rough for a nail technician and did not know much about how to do nails in general. My manicure and pedicure looks like it was done at home by yourself, and my spa pedicure was not relaxing at all. The worst part - the receptionist asked me how everything was, and I told her that I could tell that my nail tech was still learning, needed more help and the experience was not the best, after which she gave me a look and said "one hundred dollars". No effort whatsoever to ensure customer satisfaction. I paid, and still tipped because nobody should work for free, but Ruby Nails should consider to train their stuff better if they want to stay in business. read more

Short nails only. I wanted to try this place because it's closer to where I live. I have long natural nails and needed my previous no chip color removed. My nails look like i tried to do them myself. I knew it would take longer, but it ended up taking 30 minutes. The woman attempted to take the top layer off with a nail file, then soaked in acetone, scraped what she could off, then buffed the rest off with a nail file to the point where my nails were bending. Very basic technique. The new polish is sloppy. The layers are so thick that the ends look like they have a strange bubble. The sides of some nails where it meets the skin don't have any color at all. I paid $40 dollars for this. Disappointed. read more

Ruby Nails is way better than the average nail salon. Although they are always (very) crowded, they are quick to accommodate you and engage in friendly conversation, which creates a warm environment. Equally as important, my nails are never damaged by the no-chip manicure and its removal. They are all perfectionists, which is exactly what I want when getting my nails done. Laura is the best nail stylist I've ever had, here at Ruby Nails or anywhere else in the city. I love that when you're getting your nails done, she solely concentrates on you. It's not rush, rush to get you done and get the next person in. She helped me choose my main nail color as well as my accent nail, made sure everything was looking perfect, and talked to me the whole time as if we were good friends. I already made a follow-up appointment with her because she's that great. Pro-tip: as a birthday treat (up to one week before or one week after), you can come in and get a free manicure OR get the price of a regular manicure deducted from your no chip. :) What a great way to start my weekend. read more

Looking for a last minute spot to get a mani/pedi with my two kids, I called Ruby Nails. They were so kind to squeeze the three of us in. The experience was great. Everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming, and our nails are "looking fancy" as my 6-year-old would say. I'm always nervous taking my kids with me, but everyone was great and made them feel welcome. This place is summed up in one word, rude. In an industry that is supposed to be all about service they are not making the mark. It seems they are annoyed to have customers. Annoyed to help with jewelry and coat with wet nails. Annoyed if there is no one else there and you walk in. Annoyed to respond to yelp reviews as they use the same response over and over. My husband and I came in for a pedicure because my usual spots didn't have availability on short notice. We were able to get in here on 30 minutes notice, which I appreciated. The salon is clean, the pedicure chairs are comfortable and in great condition, and my paint job was neat and well done. The rest of the pedicure experience was disappointing (especially for $40/person). My husband's no-paint pedicure was over in 15 minutes with very little massage. Mine was similar, and I had my feet in the dryer within 25 minutes. This would be a great place if the pedicure came with a bit more of what I expect - even if the massage was short, if it had been more intensive I might not have minded as much. read more

We went in yesterday and they seemed to have great sanitary standards with temperature checks, hand sanitizing, required masks, spacing between customers and plexiglass barriers between the nail techs and customers. I asked her to slow down, be more careful but she just said sorry and would start talking in a different language to another technician or receptionist- a bit rude. I haven't been to a nail salon this busy in ages! Every seat was packed with a few people waiting. My friend and I went in for basic manicures and pricing seemed good to me at $15. They have a special punch club membership - get 10 manicures, get 1 free. The ladies that worked here were so nice and it was truly a beautiful salon. They did a good job on our manicures but we both agreed, we've had better. One part of my nail wasn't painted all the way, uneven cutting/smoothing on one nail...minor issues here and there. It was chipping away 2 days later. I'd come back to the salon again but may try their no-chip or a pedicure next time I try them out to see how that goes. read more

I went for a no chip manicure- I was seated right away (and it was a walk-in!); they had lots of colors to choose from, staff was incredibly attentive and fantastic at what they do. I pay attention to cleanliness and how tools are packaged etc. and let me say- this place is so clean! They have all nail tools individually packaged so you know you're the only one they're used on. For $35 I received my no-chip manicure, was offered water/tea/wine, got a nice hand scrub & massage and was offered a back-rub. Absolutely my all time favorite nail salon in Chicago. I've been going here since September since I worked close by. Everything I am greeted and promptly serviced. The salon is also very clean and very modern. I've gotten a few different technicians and they all have done a wonderful job. I usually get the gel mani which is $35 and mine usually last close to 4 weeks. I had a pedicure for the first time today and my toes look like new. They also have a punch card service which is amazing! The manager (I think she is) is so sweet to the customers and she really makes an effort to remember you. This place used to be a true gem, but since new management took over it's been nothing but disappointment after disappointment. My first experience with the new management was them losing my loyalty card. Conveniently, it was when I was due for a freebie. She offered me two punches to make up for the mistake, but no freebie. The next time I came, immediately upon arrival, I asked for a chair massage following my pedi/mani. I waited in the water for 15 minutes prior to starting my pedicure, which I usually don't mind, but by the time I was done with everything they had just started another lady in the chair and told me I could wait until she was done(another 20 minutes) or forget about it. The third time I came back, I know you're thinking whyyyyy do you keep coming back to this place but it's because I live super close and in the past have had very good experiences so I was hopeful, I had my pedicure with no issues. When I moved to the manicure chair, they had the woman doing my nails go start someone else's pedicure. I kept waiting, looking around, no one was coming to do my nails. The manager came over and gave me a lame 30 second shoulder rub "while you're waiting" and when I asked how much longer they seemed frantic. Shortly after, a different technician came over and completed my nails. Today(Tuesday) I went in without an appointment at 3:00PM and they were completely booked and told me I could come back an hour later. Given my past experiences, I had a feeling how that would go. Needless to say, that was the last straw. I'm not entitled, but when you have been going somewhere regularly for several years, you expect them to at least try to remember your face and take care of you once in a while. The new management seems unorganized and worried more about numbers than customer satisfaction.
