To celebrate Gord's birthday, we had supper last evening at Ruby Soho. Gord had a wagu burger and fries. It's the first time he's had wagu beef and he said it was good. I had wings with Thai chilli sauce, which were really good. The sauce was sweet with a bit of a kick and the skin was still crispy. Salomé was our server and was very friendly. She surprised Gord with a birthday dessert, which was delicious. Salomé and I had been talking about their jerk chicken dish. Though I ordered wings, she had given me a side of jerk sauce to check out, which was tasty. So tasty that she gave me a container of some to take home. How nice is that!? read more

Brunch at Ruby Soho was mostly fun and delicious but slightly slow. Came here for a birthday brunch with a group of 14 girls and overall had a great experience! The food was beautifully plated and full of flavor, with a few standout dishes. The Classic Breakfast was simple and delicious the raspberry jam that came with the toast was amazing. Only thing that lacked was the corn bread it was dense and dry. Pork Belly Benny was rich and flavourful the pork belly was almost candy like sweet, crunch and fatty. The only letdown was the Avocado Toast, It felt a bit bland and got lost under the sprouts. Great time here! Had drinks and apps to start the night. Drinks were perfect. Lemon drop martini was perfect sweet/tart and lychee martini tasted like fresh fruit. The poutine was so delish and the crispy rice with salmon was good (rice fantastic but salmon mouse on top was only ok) Service was fast and excellent with our server checking on us as needed. I love the aesthetic of the place. The skeeball and the church window and the plants waterfalling from the skylight. So fun. We went for happy hour. They have a great collection of options that are perfect for sharing. We had the Shishido nachos which had so much on them. We have the Kelsey Caesar salad that had pine nut so we felt very fancy and we had the coconut shrimp Our server was so good at checking in on us to make sure if we needed anything else and make sure everything was tasting good. I met a friend here hoping to try their dinner menu but we got there to early so we opted for the brunch menu. I ordered the tomatillo + baby kale benny and let me say, it did not disappoint at all! It was very delicious, especially the brown butter hollandaise sauce. It was rich and smooth. I was very happy with my order despite coming here specifically for dinner. The atmosphere was nice, most of the seating was on high tops and lots of people were weaving in an out so we had to be mindful of that. I've been to this bar a few times, and I always enjoy the vibe. It does get pretty packed, and you might spend a fair amount of time in line to get in, but overall, it's worth it! The only downside is the strict seating policy--they don't allow table changes. . ive seen this place all over my tiktok and decided to give it a shout . we went during happy hour and the place was fairly full? just the patio . patio spacing was okay, little tight but we get by . service was pretty good, really nice server . and came by to check up on us often . i was tbh expecting more from the food . nachos are more on the burnt crispy side but the coconut shrimps STOLE THE SHOW!! amazing. . the main entrees felt really "mid" . especially for the price point (20-30$ range) . the burger felt very generic and dry, and the clubhouse sandwich felt like it was left in the toaster for a minute too long- not specifically to our liking . i dont like the drinks. maybe this one is on me for what i ordered (something watermelon) but next time i will be getting something sweeter . the sour patch cocktail was easier to drink but would rather recommend the warehouse's drinks . overall, a not bad experience but will be visiting neighbouring restaurants before coming back. read more

We came to Ruby Soho for a late Saturday brunch and it was AMAZING. Ambience was great, it's lively but a bit dark. The menu had great options but was not overwhelming and very affordable. Nowadays in Toronto, being affordable on King West can be iffy but the plates came out and we were so excited. Presentation was beautiful, it tasted fantastic, and portions were perfect. This place is amazing. Its very inviting as you walk through the fashion district. We were looking for place to eat before a concert and Ruby fit the bill. We ate outside and it was a little on the chilly side, luckily they have heaters which made it alot warmer. We were greeted almost immediately for our drink order and it was happy hour and we tried the ace hill mexican beer, it really didn't have a taste to it and was really mild. Our server was Dax and she was great. My wife and I had the Barbacoa tacos which tasted absolutely incredible and the house made hot sauce had just the right amount of heat, kinda wish they sold it as it was really good. I'm not a huge guac fan but they put the guac in the bottom of the taco, which made it taste even better. Overall the food and the service were excellent, this is a place I would recommend to friends and family. read more

I'm a fan! What's not to like about Ruby Soho? First of all it's a visual treat. From the curb view, to the patio alongside Portland, the location in swanky King West, the well-designed signage and branding, the cool guy working the barbecue on the corner during covid selling great little snacks from the barbie, the dark wood "rich" looking interior with sweet looking skylight, as well as the most attractive servers and hosts that I couldn't help noticing and most men would agree with me there. The menu was interesting too with compelling sounding salads (something not in style at these kind of restaurants) as well as an east-coast Donair which I tried and it was good! Of course the usual items you would expect like wings are there too. I've only gone to eat and not sure what the evening bar scene would be like here, and I should give it a try! It seems like it does most things well, and looks quite successful at this tricky location with plenty around to distract your foodie dollars. Recommended!! read more

I was disappointed in my experience. I visited a Sunday evening. I love the vibe and the music. My server was full of energy support nice. I ordered the truffle fries and Korean chicken. The food came out very hot temperature wise I appreciate that it was freshly made but the fries didn't taste special I don't know what was on it because it tasted very bland might as well have just ordered basic fries. The chicken was weird I don't know what it was I can't put my finger on the taste but it wasn't tasty and there was a lot of wonton pieces as filler. I also ordered a drink that was mostly ice the drink was very watery.. I guess you're paying for the ambiance and the location of being on king Street because I do not believe that I got value for my money I did have a good time because of the company I had as well as my server but the food and the drinks aren't worth visiting twice read more

The restaurant quickly filled up shortly after we arrived. I would recommend making a reservation if possible, as it seems to be quite busy at peak times. I got the pork belly Benny and it was delicious. It is served with a fresh and light salad, as well as crispy potato wedges. The only complaint we had was that the food was not as hot as one would expect, even right after it was served. We ended up staying for a long time, and never felt rushed to leave or anything, which was really nice. Our server was very attentive and continued to check in on us during our visit. We ordered a few drinks and they were all quite tasty, my favourite being the Heart of Darkness. The cocktails were all presented beautifully and came out quickly. Overall, would highly recommend this restaurant! I would love to come back and check out some of their happy hour/dinner menu offerings. read more

Weekend brunch: The restaurant offers a variety of options, from classic items to healthier options, such as yogurt and granola berry bowl. Our table ordered the pancetta bennys and Soho hash and found it filling and delicious. Happy Hour is from 3 pm to 7 pm. There are deals on Casamigos shots, beers, selected wines, and $2 off cocktails. The food and drinks are good, lively atmosphere, but the service is mediocre. Considering how many people were working there, it seemed to add to the chaos than organization. We tried to get someone's attention to move out of the rain... but everyone seemed to walk by without eye contact. After paying we noticed we were over-charged, so trying to get that corrected felt SUPER awkward; so we just left it as is. I have walked by this place several times with my boyfriend and it's always packed! We thought it would be fun to try. We were impressed with the service and quality of cocktails. We got the Celery gimlet, Penicillin and Canada Dry cocktails and they were delicious. For food we got the smash burger with fries and my boyfriend enjoyed it. I got the watermelon tuna salad and unfortunately I didn't like it that much. There was not much watermelon and it was mostly iceberg lettuce, and had an odd combination of curried cauliflower with sesame cream dressing - a little too complicated for a watermelon salad. Maybe I am biased because I make really good watermelon salads myself :) anyways I will be back for cocktails, but food wise I'll stick to more conventional pub foods. I've been wanting to try out Ruby Soho for a while. They put up plastic divers between the patio tables, which made things feel more private and safe during these times. We tried the buffalo chicken wings which were really plump and flavourful. We also had the chicken sandwich which came with a side choice of the salad or the Parmesan fries which were really good.
