We had an early lunch at Kellys Landing on Monday the 17th, and sat outside on the patio. It was a great experience from start to finish. Our server, who had long black hair, was incredibly polite, friendly and great fun. She really made the lunch enjoyable and is an absolute credit to Kellys. We asked for the patio and were told it would be a small wait, no problem-- however after our wait, we were brought to an inside table. Why would I wait if there were tons of tables open inside? Ha. The seating was fixed quickly, and though the hostesses were a little bit scattered, our waiter was quite attentive. We had the burrata appetizer and were very pleased. When it came to meals, the margherita pizza had balsamic on it, which I thought would be a nice albeit unusual addition! But I thought it would also be a light glaze, and not sitting in a balsamic puddle. Not the most satisfying experience. My partner's pistachio gnocchi was quite good however. It was my first time trying out Kelly's Landing and I had an okay experience. The location is great with nice hosts but overall I was quite disappointed with my time here. Our server was not attentive what so ever, he took quite a while to even take our order and at one point we had to wave him down. It was quite disappointing to know that this was how we were treated coming out for dinner. Now when it comes to the food, also nothing special. I ordered the Steak & Prawns but it definitely lacked flavours. Where I know the server was not being attentive was when I had asked for medium well and it came out medium rare. The prawns were garlicky and flavourful but the steak was definitely underwhelming. We also ordered the Nachos with Chicken (chicken was extremely bland), Calamari (nothing special), Parm fries (probably best thing I had), and the Trio Dip (which was alright). Overall was a mid experience and not sure I would come back, after the way we were treated. 5.5/10 Recommend! read more

I almost needed earphones to keep my head from ringing. I couldn't even hear the fire engine running by on an emergency call! We were told it was a 10 minute wait on a table; bar was full (Boo!)...so once we WERE seated, we got stuck at a wobbly two topper stuck between two other couples. Blech! I was ready to walk outta the place when I noticed two seats open up at the bar...Yay! So off we went and left our hapless waitress and her minions at our wobbly azz table. Our bartender was a lovely young lady; busy as all hell but still attentive enough to warrant a good grade from my own perspective. No fake happiness or chatter like the waitress from earlier possessed. We both decided to settle on the Spanish theme they had adopted for the present. While their whole menu was available, this place seems to create themes and special menus to serve the theme's purpose. One such thing was Madrí Exepcional, a lager from central Spain. There were also a few "tapas" items and a couple of main dishes. I ordered all three tapas and Queen Bee chose their mussels and chorizo entree. So the three tapas they had were 1. Croquetas de pollo (chicken croquettes) 2. Patatas Bravas (spicy roasted potatoes) 3. Gambas al ajillo (shrimp & garlic sauce) I put these in order of my level of pleasure. They all worked in their own way, but the croquettes were the least successful of the lot. However, they came with a super smokey aioli dipping sauce, which was astronomically successful. Potatoes were nicely flavored with a similar sauce on top of their good crisp finish. Shrimp were nicely grilled and swam in a garlic sauce that worked quite nicely with the well toasted bread. My mug of draft served well as a wash-down tool. Speaking of washing down, Queen Bee ate every single last mussel in the huge bowl, plus the nicely flavored chorizo which actually tasted better than any crap one would expect from the ol' Sysco truck or Goya section of the local Piggly Wiggly. She also mopped up every last bit of sauce with similar well-grilled bread. Only drawback as I mentioned earlier is the absolute over the top noise in this joint. It was jam packed on a Tuesday evening with mostly young hipster types. The horrendously loud music was club type noise you'd never catch me DEAD listening to. We both found the food tasty. Bartendress was pleasant and kept a good distance, which is how I like it. If I could give this joint three and a half stars, I would. The cacophonous, club-like atmosphere definitely takes away from my overall impression of this phony-azz pretentious joint. Since I'll never be back here again, I personally don't care that much whether I'm giving too big a rating or too small. So three stars it is!!! read more

I definitely underestimated Kelly's Landing. I've been working steps away from the restaurant for almost four years, and finally tried it for the first time last week. It was a great place for a business lunch, the prices were pretty fair for a downtown restaurant and the service was good considering how busy it was. My favourite dish was definitely the calamari, which was a generous portion and tasty. My burger and fries were good, nothing too special, but enjoyable for sure. I had always wanted to try Kelly's Landing and finally got the chance to do it. . The spacing is immense in this place i was guided to my table and i was hoping to watch the Cuba Panama World baseball classic game. I had the landing salad with Marinated Chicken. This was the hilight of the meal as it had lots flavor with vinagrette and had sunflower seeds and cheese with it. It was fantastic. i had the fish tacos with fries. I had heard this place was popular and wanted to try it while I was in town. It took about three days to get a reservation at a convenient time but I finally got one. They have so many dishes that sound good, but I decided on the bacon jam & cheddar burger and upgraded the fries to the garlic & herb parmesan fries. I didn't see or taste a lot of the white cheddar on the burger but it was still one of the best burgers I ever had. Quality beef with arugula, crispy onions, the bacon jam and a delicious sauce all went very well together. Loved the fries too. Me, my wife, and our friend discovered this place as we were hungry and didn't want to wait long for a wheelchair Uber or Lyft from Union Station so we decided to get a late lunch/early dinner here. Went here to eat for a company lunch event with my team at around 1:30 pm. When we got there, it was quite packed and loud but not overbearing. We were shown to our seats almost immediately by the friendly staff and were given waters to start. We had ordered and waited about 25 minutes before we got our appetizers. my pizza eventually came and it was surprisingly appetizing. It was thin crust with quite a lot of meat and it had a nice spicy kick at the end. The only down side was that some parts were burnt and were a little dry. The price was less than 20$ before tax and tip so it was very decent for the amount and quality that you get. This restaurant is in the heart of downtown close to most of the main attractions such as Scotiabank Arena, Union Station, CN Tower, and Roger's Centre. It is walking distance to the Financial district. Lots of workers come here after work for a night cap. We came here to eat before the Raptors game. The restaurant was almost at capacity. We got a table within 15 minutes. It took about 10 minutes before a server came by to greet us and introduce herself. She was polite and friendly. It would have been nice to know if there's any drink or food specials. The menu didn't indicate otherwise. We ordered the Tuna poke bowl $23.50 and Bacon jam and cheddar burger. We also ordered a Coors Light and upgraded to the larger mug for $3 more. The Tuna Poke bowl came with a tangy spicy sauce. There is good texture in this dish. Only miss here is the portion size doesn't justify the price. If you're hungry, I would avoid ordering this dish. The bacon jam cheddar burger was the big showstopper. The fresh ground chuck oatty had a nice charred on the outside and juicy texture inside. Every bite was rewarding. The burger was dressed with bacon jam, arugula, white cheddar, and Landing sauce. The fries were fresh cut style. The server did try to upgrade my order with garlic and herb parmesan fries or sweet potato fries. I declined. My wife was also asked if she wanted to change her poke bowl to salad instead of rice. Although it's ok to offer these upgrades I would appreciate the server letting us know the cost of those upgrades. The total bill came up $71.79 with tip. Went there before seeing the Blue Jay game. Had never been before but have always walked by it and was curious. I thought the menu had a lot of selections. No dice. But I gotta say I felt the burger itself was a little small and considering I was paying over $20.00 I felt they were a bit stingy on the fries, seriously they were delicious, but I think I counted 8 fries on a small dish.. I had a Caesar to drink, and the bartender did put a good amount of tabasco on there, but I felt like it could have used a pinch more of horseradish. The staff was attentive, they were always checking in at regular intervals to see how we were doing and asking if we needed anything, and that was impressive considering it was a game night. Located right outside Union Station, this restaurant appears to be popular with game goers as it tends to be filled with people wearing baseball caps and jerseys. There are also those who like to come here for a regular night out with friends. I gave this restaurant a second chance after a first not so great experience and noticed a huge improvement. Like the first time, the staff here were all super friendly, and we were brought to our table right away upon arrival (note that reservations were made in advance). One thing I noticed during this visit was that the restaurant appears to be divided into two halves. One side was more like a sports bar with a large screen displaying some sports game. This side from my first experience was a lot louder, and required you to speak up quite a bit just to be heard. This time, we were brought to the other side of the restaurant which had a more posh look (see photo), smaller TV's in the distance, and was overall less noisy, making it easier to communicate with your company. As with any other restaurant, we were served some water while we decided on what to order. The glasses and cutlery were clean and free of water marks which is always a huge plus. Our drinks, appetizer, and mains all arrived within a reasonable amount of time after placing our order. The portions were good, and both the drinks and food were enjoyable. Our main server also came by to check how things were just the right number of times. He didn't forget that we were there, and didn't come by so often that it felt like we weren't given any space. My first bad experience could have been due to that server being new to the job and had not developed a proper handle of things yet. Kelly Landing is a great place. It is very busy and I stopped here on my way to a concert. But not everything was a positive experience. Once you arrive of course there is a wait! It's downtown but the host did have an attitude they have a portiable charger at the front of the restaurant which is so convenient but it was not working, when I asked the host for help they had an attitude after asking them 10 mins they finally helped me. When we finally sat down I was so excited we had really good appitizers callflower bites and calamari which was amazing I highly recommend the calflower bites 10/10 Than we waited over an hour for are meal people who came after us got to eat before us! We went for lunch to celebrate a colleague's 60th birthday. There were 8 of us and we made a reservation. We were seated quite quickly on the patio. I ordered the tuna poke bowl. Others had the Peruvian chicken salad, Naan chicken club and salmon. The food took a long time to arrive (45 min) which is way too long for a work lunch. My Poke bowl was quite tasty and had a lot of very nice tuna. It was missing sauce though so felt unfinished. Others also enjoyed their meals as well. One of our friends (the one celebrating the birthday) did not get their food until we were finished ours. We were told it was because the plate was accidentally dropped so they had to remake it. I get that things happen, but there was very little apology and I feel like we could have been offered bread or an appetizer while waiting. I didn't know much about Kellys Landing, but I have walked by it several times walking from my hotel to my work location. I always found it busy in the evening especially when the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs or the Toronto Raptors have a home game. The Rogers Centre and Scotia Bank Arena are easily within walking distance of this restaurant. They have a nice outside seating area, a good size bar and their wait time on game day isn't bad considering some other major cities I have been to. You can expect a 10-15 minute wait for indoor dining and 25-35 minutes for patio dining. Interior dining is very well kept, clean in appearance, and quite large in capacity. I ordered a cocktail which wasn't skimpy on the alcohol and served in a pretty solid rock glass. Some places give you cheap glassware, but Kellys Landing provides solid glassed that are heavy, but don't seem like they would crack or break easy. I was only there for drinks and appetizers, so I ordered their chicken wings with their hot sauce. The waitress took my order, walked away and in less than 90 seconds rounds the corner with the wings in hand. They must cook so many orders that they are already dropping them or have them just coming out of the fryer anticipating the next order. They were lathered in a sticky style sauce, crispy on the outside and perfect temperature on the inside. The hot sauce was more a Thai style than a buffalo style. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious and you could feel a small afterburner on your lips. They provide you with a separate bowl for your bones, 2 wet naps and additional paper napkins to go along with your cloth napkin. I would order the again in a heartbeat. Sorry I did not take a picture of them as I dove in head first before I remember to take one. Next time I am in Toronto I will get you a picture. I highly recommend this place. When you come to Kellys Landing you GET what you payed for! You also get what you DIDN'T pay for. As a kid, when I came here I was in shock! Despite it being busy because the Blue Jays just finished a close game, there was plenty of room for me and my family. They sat us in a cozy corner spot with a perfect that's right PERFECT view of the march madness games that were happening at the time. Five minutes go by and suddenly the waitress (who is super nice by the way) brought us FREE appetizers! They consisted of carrots, celery, and crackers finished off with ranch dressing. As soon as I finished off the free appetizer the main course came. I order grilled salmon with fries. I put the fork in. I lifted some salmon to my mouth. And it was IMMACULATE it was so good that I finished it and ordered a second one immediately! Once I prepared to leave the waitress brought over FREE ice cream sandwiches! Looking back I had a great time. I got to spend time with my family that I don't usually get to spend since my grandma lives far away and my parents are constantly working. The location is convenient to get to - only steps away from Union Station and the financial district. The inside is pretty spacious and they accommodate large party bookings (usually by reserving a row of tables or sectioning off an area of the restaurant). Ambience is pretty casual. They have an outdoor patio in the summer. Food is pretty good. The menu has something for everyone, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options (they're also marked accordingly on the menu). I like that they allow customizations to the dishes (e.g. take out, add, or swap certain ingredients). I had the Grilled Atlantic Salmon which came in a pretty sizable individual portion (pretty big piece of salmon - 7 oz), and it was cooked well done (the way I like it). It came with red rice and quinoa blend, market vegetables, and caramelized honey mustard which was just a nice drizzle on top and wasn't too sweet at all (which was perfect). I had the option of swapping the rice and quinoa blend with any side / add-on / extra market vegetables. The market vegetables came as a few pieces of large Brussels sprouts, carrot, and red pepper (wish they included more of the vegetables). I ordered an extra Brussels sprouts as an add-on. It was quite oily which I regretted getting after, but at least the market vegetables were good and still crunchy. The other dishes looked good and the consensus from everyone was that the food was great (tasty, good portion size, presentable, satisfying) - especially the vegetarian options. Service was friendly and helpful, but it was quite slow. We came on a weekday during lunch hours, and the restaurant wasn't too busy yet when we arrived, yet it took almost 1.5 hours for the food to arrive (but acknowledging that we were a large party of more than 20 people, and they waited for everyone's orders to be cooked and ready first before bringing them out to everyone at the same time - which was the right thing to do). We sat at a window table with a fantastic view of the iconic Royal York Hotel on three occasions recently. The staff was great, including Josh, Alexis, Daniel and the manager Diell (sp). They were friendly and really polished professionals. The food was well presented and their steaks are juicy and delicious.
