It's a pretty chill spot, I liked the vibe and the variety of seating options. The Shrimp Dumplings were tasty, not much shrimp in the dumplings but the sauce was a real highlight. The Fish Tacos were good, though they couldn't remove the onions (which I'm not a fan of). The Steak & Fries was disappointing - about 3/4 of the plate was fries, with just a few small pieces of beef lying on the side, a bit pathetic presentation. Service was okay. Overall it's a nice place to grab drinks and hang out, but not somewhere I'd go for a proper meal. On our Monthly ritual of Zorro at his groomer, found ourselves at Local for lunch on a Sunday. Place was quite busy , still we got a table. Place is done well , high ceilings with an industrial look and a large patio . Our server was friendly with a big smile. Menu had a good selection, we ordered a spicy chicken quesadilla and a fried chicken ramen, both were underwhelming and surprisingly not as expected. He had The LOCAL Burger (two grilled patties, melted american cheese, caramelized onions, shredded lettuce and secret house sauce) and a salad. Outdoor place, nice in good weather. The food is abysmal, tasteless and covered in commercials sauces to make it seem tasty. Who needs oyster sauce overwhelming edamame? Or tofu cubes covered in horrible red sauce. Just drink their beer, can't go wrong there. read more

The patio here was great. There's a good amount of seating outside, and the patio had a retractable roof which was opened after the rain stopped on our visit. Food: The food was good, and came quicker than I expected. For the appetizer hubby and I shared the local fried chicken with a Dragon glaze. The dragon glaze was a little bit spicy for me but fine for hubby. For the main entrée, I had the steak and fries. It was done as per my request of medium well done. It was good but it didn't blow my mind. Just decent pub style food. Hubby had the burger and fries. He said that the quality of the burger was good as well. For dessert we have the peanut butter and chocolate cup without ice cream. That was rich and creamy and decadent. It wasn't too sweet, which was nice. Service: We had a nice lady as our waitress. She had ginger hair, so hubby was making ginger jokes with her because he's a ginger too. She was friendly, and also efficient. Ambience: One thing I didn't like about this place was how loud the music was. I almost felt like I was at a concert. I had to yell to talk to hubby, and he was right beside me. Also, they have a lot of the barstool type seating with tables. For short people like me and hubby it's not so easy to get into those tall stools. But other than than that the decor is pretty typical of pubs. Leather back seats, wooden tables and barstools. The washrooms are all individual washrooms and there are plenty of them. I think there were at least six of them. Always good to have more washrooms I think. I will say that it was nice that they have a lift for those with baby strollers or wheelchairs to get them to the main floor. But it took them some time to find someone amongst the staff who knew how to operate it. They also have an outdoor patio with the corn hole game. The patio is partially covered so you could sit out there even if it's raining. If they would turn the volume down I would consider coming here again. This casual eatery in Liberty Village is great for your standard American pub food. Personally, I love the burgers which we devoured: truffle cheeseburger and the Brooklyn burger (substituted with a veggie patty). Both were delicious, but the Brooklyn burger was a standout, thanks to the sweetness from the pepper relish. We also enjoyed some beers, and our server, who was very sweet, treated us to green tea shooters for initially missing our table. There is always a game (some kind of sport) that's playing on tv and they have cornholes on the patio for this sitting outside, which is always packed. Having visited a couple of times, we can say the vibe is always good and the food consistently yummy. read more

Came here with my colleagues. The place was super busy on a Thursday night. They have patios seating and those were all taken. Local is a chain and I have been to the Local in Calgary as well but not the one in Vancouver. I ordered garlic chilli wings and two bramble drinks. The wings were a bit slightly overcooked but the flavor was very tasty. I do like the dip that came with it. The drink was tasty and refreshing. Service was good. All about the service. We are a family of four rugby fans who went to the Local so that we could watch Canada versus Fiji in World Cup women's. They changed the channels to put the game on one of the big screens and then we had such a great server, Michelle, who asked about the game and got really interested. She checked in with us throughout the meal and engaged with us in a really professional but fun way. All four of us enjoyed very different meals. We decided to try this spot the other day for brunch/lunch, and we had an okay experience. Food wasn't bad, but service was quite slow. We ordered and shared the the Diablo burger which was pretty good and flavourful, but the bun came out cold which was disappointing. We also shared the the breakfast sandwich which was just okay, not bad, but nothing to rave about either. Their hot sauce was also pretty good, it tasted a lot like Taco Bell's. The best dish was probably the mini donuts, they were fresh, warm and delicious. However the main issue I had was that we waited over 40 minutes for the food to come, and while waiting we looked over to the side and saw all the servers taking shots. Not exactly the best look when customers are waiting for their food for long periods of time. The day before our wedding, we decided to host a party for ~30 of our friends at LOCAL. The staff were extremely accommodating and they made it super easy to organize this event for us. They gave us the area upstairs by the kitchen that has both sitting & standing area. The location was amazing because it makes it super easy to mingle with everyone. I wouldn't come here to chill but if you are looking for a really boisterous spot to kick back some drinks while on the patio or watch some sports casually while eating this could be a good place for you. They also have a decent happy hour. We ordered poutine and tacos with a pint of beer (on tap and your choice) for $7 each. Which were pretty filling and I don't think small in portion. Tip - We had no reservations but would recommend to do so as we had to be placed on a waiting list and maybe wait 10-15 mins. But the wait actually ended up being quick, just like the service. And the food was incredible....I recommend the Local Burger to anyone who likes a nice juicy burger. And if you happen to be pregnant while visiting and hoping for a nice mocktail, they had the most refreshing drink. I really wish I had marked down the recipe. The place was PACKED - by no means did it feel compliant with the current COVID capacity limits. We then asked for an estimate on how long the wait to be seated would be, to give us an idea of whether we should wait or not. The staff were pleasant and they had a patio and even though cold the atmosphere was intoxicating. The waitress brought blankets, a DJ played music. The food was brilliant, I had a curry dish and another guest had the potato skins and the food was delicious.
