This is supposed to be a 1 star rating but Nana was a topnotch Manager and proactively rectified the bad service we experienced in a professional and calm manner hence in the end I have to change my rating to 3 stars. We went for their happy hour and ordered just drinks since we already had lunch in a nearby restaurant. We weren't even there for an hour when a staff member (Elan) came to us and said that we have to vacate our table in 5 mins since it was reserved for another customer. All the while this was communicated when we just ordered new set of drinks. When we asked why this wasn't mentioned by our server (Talia) prior to ordering our drinks, she got agitated and said that she doesn't want to talk to us anymore. My friend was calmly explaining to her that basically they want us to chug our drinks down in 5 mins so we can leave their restaurant which is so unreasonable. Of course we were frustrated and were swearing but not directly at her but she handled it unprofessionally. Talia should be avoided! She lacks proper customer service etiquette, very argumentative and damage the restaurant's reputation. Living and working in downtown Toronto, we pretty much dine and drink in restaurants/bars all the time. But this is the first time we have experienced this kind of inferior service. If not for Nana's professionalism and correcting the issues, we would not even give this place a second chance.

Nice vibe overall! I like the interior of this place and the food is delicious too. Service was on point and it is good for office lunches and after office hangouts!

    Three pizzas for happy hour!

Happy hour specials 2pm to 5pm -$10 pizza and $12 drinks (espresso martini and margarita). Server was really nice. If you go during peak time, I wouldn't expect exceptional service as it is packed with business folk from 5 to 7pm, however if you go for happy hour, do expect great service. The basement has a pool table and an area you can rent out for events which includes shuffleboard. Overall I enjoyed our quiet table tucked away in the corner as I imagine it would have been quite loud to have a table in the center of the restaurant. There was also a dj playing the day I went in. I recommend the Soprasoto pizza and the mushroom pizza which were both stellar choices especially for the happy hour price.

Great place to go to after the Raptors Game. Cheap eats and drinks during happy hour. The bartenders were so fun and nice! Loved the vibes!

Was walking around and stumbled upon their happy hour. Arrived just in time to order a pizza and cocktail for $10 each. The pizza was a full size personal pizza. I couldn't finish it all so definitely can share with 2 people. The classic margarita was pretty good as well. I sat at the first bar to the right bc I didn't realize how big this restaurant is. The ambiance was fun as there were so many people enjoying happy hour and the bartenders were chatting it up with the people. Definitely recommend the happy hour if able to stop by during that time (forgot the actual happy hour time sorry!).

Corporate event held in this restaurant. Food is average. Service is good. Not much surprise. Some pizza has almost nothing but just pizza source. Deep fry chicken taste the best among all. Mac and cheese is ok. Washroom is clean Interesting section under same owner with hair cutting.

Such a great music vibe in this place. Loads of beers on tap and great cocktails too. Had the fish and chips, pretty average, so that's the one star ding. This place was poppin on a Wednesday.

Nice diner at this pub / sports bar(?) at King and Bay. Friendly service, tables maybe a bit to close together during Covid, but they weren't all full. We had the tuna bowl and the burger with fries. The tuna bowl was great, would have been improved if the rice was warm. The burger was also great, regular fries were good.

Rona, Jacob, Gord and I had supper this evening before the Toronto Rock game at the Walrus Pub & Beer Hall. The four of us ordered the Golden Chicken Sandwich. Gord, Jacob and I got ours with fries and Rona got hers with a salad. I ordered my sandwich without lettuce. I thought it was a good sandwich. The panko added a bit of heat so I didn't need to dip in the side of hot sauce. The chicken was moist and tender. The bun was soft, which I like, but still managed to hold the chicken well. The fries were good, though I found the sandwich filling enough so didn't have many fries. I'd get this again.

Great time. Pizza was surprisingly delicious. Game area in the lower level bar area with ping pong. Drinks are good. Good happy hour deals. Service was very friendly, helpful, and quick!

Updating my review thanks to a stellar repeat visit to Walrus. Walrus contacted me and invited me back because of the less than perfect (although far from imperfect) time previously. I don't usually take up offers when people invite me back, but the same friends happened to be coming in from Pickering, so I figured we could all meet there again. Well, this time was amazing. Our server, Raven, was fantastic - helpful, informative, engaged. We tried two menu items, the mushroom pizza and the crispy cauliflower, and they were both really, really good. The crust on the pizza was really interesting - it had sesame seeds! - and I would order both these items again. The drink selection was pretty solid as well, and I wasn't drinking this night, so Raven recommended an apple rhubarb soda and it was FANTASTIC! What I liked was that I just casually told her I wasn't drinking, and she went through a bunch of options I could have, so she was really good at selling and knowing what items weren't on the menu that I might be interested in. Tables are nicely spaced apart so you don't feel crowded, and it wasn't too loud a space so you could actually talk to each other. Hostesses seem happy and friendly (I compare this to other beer halls like Craft, where the hostesses are clearly unhappy). I'm glad I was invited back, because I'm definitely adding Walrus to my rotation list especially for visitors meeting us from the Go Train, or meeting up after work as it's right in the heart of the business district.

This place is geared towards one the bay street crowd as it gets slammed in the after work hours during the week. However I wanted to give it a try giving its in the neighborhood somewhat. First visit was for drinks alone though their patio did catch my eye so decided to give it a visit for food/patio on the weekend. Surprisingly the place wasn't that busy. The patio is done well here and the seating inside is humongous. I think this seems to be the trend as most of the newer pubs that I have seen open up are similar sized. Now for the bad part maybe its just me I didn't like the beer selection here to the extent on the first visit I ended up just ordering a cocktail! Ah well they do have a rotating craft selection so might work for you. All of us ended up ordering the burger and added the cauliflower app for good measure. The app was decent for what it is (mild flavors and something to munch on while not feeling guilty. The burger is served on a wooden board not a fan of these BTW. The fries are good. Burgers is OK though I wasn't expecting to be wowed. The service was good throughout. 3.5 Stars with a potential for a 4 star pub if the offer more Belgian beers for moi.

Without attempting to try to present a front of a time long gone, The Bovine simply exists today as it once did in that time long ago, before Smokes stickers, before iPhones, back when people would just go to a bar to talk with those they didn't know the morning prior. I mistakenly came upon Town Crier Pub due to some marketing miscommunication on my part. I saw a lovely lunch special sidewalk sign and thought it was for them, but it was actually for the restaurant next door! However, I was already committed, and I always loved pubbing. Opened in early 2011, it was named after the historical role of town criers who served as the primary news source in medieval times. With the general theme of Belgian and German styles, its owners believed that European beers and news were linked. Would I be crying in my beer at this pub for entering the incorrect eatery in this town!? PURCHASE(S) Hacker-Pschorr Munich Gold Lager Beer 5.5% ABV 20floz Draft ($11.50CAD): Golden amber color, aromatic malty aroma, low body, malty sweet flavor, clean smooth finish, and malty aftertaste. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=Oks3ELRLtUfkwpMwMfZ7YQ Town Crier Burger + Add Cheese ($17.00CAD + $2.00CAD): A simple burger made with prime rib beef patty, lettuce, pickle, red onion, and tomato on a lightly-grilled bun with an added slice of cheddar cheese, it was a sizable burger and did the job, but there wasn't anything special about it. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=XV6Yy6lwP5yngWkIFicroA [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 3.5 of 5.0 STARS] Substitute Onion Rings ($3.00CAD): A good side portion with many rings of generally uniform size, these were hot, lightly golden browned, semi-crunchy, and had a tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (not sweet Maui) pulled out at times. Although they were somewhat oily, they were good, and didn't come with any dipping sauce. Innis & Gunn Mangoes On The Run Fruited IPA Beer 5.0% ABV 20floz Draft ($11.00CAD): Dark strawberry color, fruity mango tropical aroma, low body, fruity hoppy mango sweet flavor, smooth finish, and slight bitter fruity mango tropical aftertaste. This was my favorite of the two for obvious reasons! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=_MZhEukjAcdC0Qfo4P2Kaw SERVICE I was happily greeted by a young host outside on the sidewalk who then directed me to a nice outdoor patio table perfect for people watching and the weather. He handed me a massive menu, supplied a glass of water, and soon enough I placed my order. My beers arrived quickly while the food took about ten minutes. He checked in often while we chatted throughout the time. It was a cool hang out for lunch - danke! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I was in the area all day for the start of the Toronto International Film Festival, so I simply walked. Otherwise, there were spots along the main drag of John St. and all surrounding streets, some nearby structures, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A cozy snug layout throughout, inside had a loungey warm feeling with a focal bar with a few stools https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=LZIKI_6GFVgLIPXXkbrICA and many closed-in tables; whereas, the outside patio was less formal but equally compact. Inside was very ornate of Belgian and German styles, while outside was casual and simple. Minimal natural lighting entered inside through the few windows and door opening and of course plenty outside while dim electric ceiling and table lights filled in both areas. There were no TVs nor any background music because chatter was everywhere. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=bYpvTBTNnDqaLvrEqNtYtA ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Town Crier Pub had me laughing, talking, and people watching for a relaxing afternoon and would gladly return. The number of beers available both on tap and in bottles was insane and I loved it! The food menu was expansive. The food was fine but nothing special, and the prices were relatively comparable. But, it was the service and staff that literally reeled me in for a good time. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $50.00CAD BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... This was first on our list, located in the Scotiabank Tower on Adelaide. We got a nice corner table, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, not too loud but not library-like either. The music, mostly UK fare like their cuisine, played an acceptable volume that my friends and I didn't have to raise our voices. We were seated very promptly, and our server took care to attend to my friend's allergy. She even asked to change my friend's cutlery when another server brought the wrong salad. My appetizer was a hot-smoked salmon pâté, which was ok by itself, but eaten with the pickles gave it that taste I wouldn't forget. I chose for my main the Petit Roast Dinner; the cut was excellent, full of flavour and juicy to boot. The gravy for said cut just brought the roast to another level. The sides were delicious as well, especially the crispiness of the potatoes. A clean plate was the end result! Finally to finish the meal, I chose the chocolate banoffee cheesecake - I never pass on any cheesecake when it's offered. And it didn't disappoint! The banana brûlée was an interesting touch, while having toffee sauce drizzled on the cheesecake was a first (and not definitely last) for me! All in all, it was a nice introduction to The Rabbit Hole, and I can't wait to go down there again!
