I was treated to lunch with my brother and niece at Ruby Tuesday in Clemson. I had not dined at a Ruby Tuesday, since the one in Easley closed. It wasn't too crowded at 12:00. The special was soup and the salad bar for $10.99. I ordered the broccoli and cheese soup and salad bar, my brother ordered the potato soup and salad bar. My niece decided to do only the salad bar. There were several types of lettuces, including spinach. The toppings were plentiful as well chopped eggs, olives, ham, pasta salads, beets, chickpeas, bacon and those pumpernickel crouton that I love. That was only a few of the toppings for a salad, too many to name. The broccoli cheddar soup and salad was delicious, and it was nice spending time with family.

Kamilla seated and waited on me. Very nice young lady. Attentive and friendly. The salad bar was great but I did not see potato salad, sad. I had the New Orleans seafood. Creole-seasoned blackened tilapia & sautéed shrimp smothered in Parmesan cream. Served with grilled zucchini and rice pilaf. This meal was tender and yummy. The restaurant wasn't that full for a Friday evening. It appeared to be clean. I enjoyed my meal. Even the manager walked by and asked if everything was okay. 6/14/2024

Updating my review from years ago. We came about a month ago and I ordered a burger that had a random sauce on it I asked if it was spicy they said no so I said ok I'll take that it came out super spicy I couldn't eat it I apologized and asked for another and the waiter basically argued with me that I was wrong? Until the event brought me a new Patty not a new burger but a patty without the sauce. Now we went yesterday because I had a bogo for an adult entree, two kids meals and one adult entree was $65. That's insane. It also took 30 minutes to bring the ticket after we asked for it so I took our kids and sat in the car while my husband paid, he brought a visa gift card he received for Christmas and the manager said he could only take 20% from it and he'd better use it somewhere else which makes no sense so we paid another way. I'd like to mention the couple beside me got their meal free and ate nothing they left a steak plate and fries and a chicken plate with 2 sides and left after the manager apologized and offered free dessert they declined and left which only leads me to believe something nasty was in their food. So overall this place has went down hill and the the prices have went up. I can't imagine if I had to pay $19 more for the chicken and fries I ordered. 2 stars because the food was fine I ate it. Mushrooms on the bar were black and very questionable and a toilet in the women's room was full and flooding the floor.

By the time I thought about taking a pic it was too late, Presto!

First hint should have been the tables - several high tops still dirty and not wiped down. The ducks are cute, but to have to avoid stepping in duck sh** to get into the place, well not our thang.... Anyway we decided to give it a go and ordered some fried mushrooms, 2 orders of the double burger special, and a couple of sodas. Waited, and waited.....and waited. In the meantime the servers were busy showcasing their twerking capabilities to each other at the counter where they pick up orders. OKaaaaay. How about wiping down a few tables? So our order arrives - rather partial order. Only 1 of the double burger special arrived, and the "order of fried mushrooms" contained 9 mushrooms total, and these were not large by any stretch. For $10.75?? Good grief. We decided to split the one order of the burger special as we had waited close to 35 minutes already. To be fair, the burger was good, the fries that came with it were sparse but good. The mushrooms - meh. Oh and at the plastic cutlery dispenser station - out of forks and knives. That twerking practice must be oh so important.... The live entertainment was good though - just one guy who knew a lot of songs, and was doing his absolute best to play some requests. Entertaining, great sense of humor and sounded good - kudos to him. Net net, not interested in a return visit - certainly didn't expect a 5* or even a 4*, but this place had too many things just not up to par.

Unfortunately Rick Erwin's missed the mark on its primary assignment. The restaurant is nicely decorated in the style of a steakhouse. Dark wood paneling and shutters adorn the walls with pleasant dim lighting shining down from above. Service was strong with a team serving our table. We were greeted immediately and offered water and a drink. However, we were not offered bread, which is unusual for a steakhouse. Our appetizer of Buffalo Cauliflower was just ok. The breading had a subtle after-taste, which may have been from the batter being undercooked. And the buffalo sauce was not very prominent. So the dish was not as strong as I would have wanted. For our main course, we ordered the porterhouse for two--the signature dish at any steakhouse. Unfortunately, it fell short. When the steak arrived, it lacked the expected presentation; it had been grilled rather than broiled and was served without the usual butter or sizzling finish. That missing sizzle wasn't just visual--it showed in the flavor. A proper porterhouse should have a rich, salty, buttery finish, but this one was surprisingly bland. Just as disappointing, instead of being presented as the centerpiece of the table, the steak was served on a plate that we were apparently expected to eat directly from. It felt odd and took away from what should have been a standout experience. Overall, this was a below average experience for a steakhouse. We will try it again down the road since the choices near Clemson are limited. But Rick Erwin's should really revisit what it is trying to be and then decide how to be that.
