Honestly I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised! This place reminded me of a New Jersey diner, except the food was better than most. Our server was very attentive and was the type who addresses you as "honey." I ordered the country fried steak with gravy and it was so good! My favorite part though was the side of home fries. Arrived on a Thursday 12:15 lunchtime, but in the mood for breakfast. Which is an option for lunch here. I was greeted promptly by an employee who was preparing silverware and napkin sets and after some consideration, and surveying the restaurant, she suggested, "sit anywhere." Part of the reason for that was the six unbussed and messy tables. It wasn't particularly crowded, two single tables, me included, two double patron tables and one person at the counter. I counted four servers, or staff. There wasn't a real "hustle" going on here. Initially, I chose to sit at a booth, but it was not wiped down so I sat at a four top in the middle of the restaurant- most of the unbussed tables were booths at windows. I was waited on quickly and had my order chosen by the time my drink came back, which was prompt. I went with an unhealthy choice of biscuits and gravy with two eggs over medium and you know it, the side of corned beef hash. Food arrived ten minutes after I had arrived, so they are on the cooking and food delivery. In fact, I was in and out of there within about 25 minutes, but that's also because I was a solo diner and no orders were in the kitchen ahead of mine since all the others had been served prior to me. The kitchen was on it. Pictures don't do the biscuit and gravy due justice. The biscuits are tender and somehow pull off the fluffiness and being substantial simultaneously. The gravy was fresh, not a congealed mess. I was a little bit apprehensive that the gravy would seem like a breakfast, left-over gel, or too thick, but it was amazingly perfect. What is an admirable touch is the two biscuits were halved, then grill toasted on both sides and then the sausage gravy was ladled on top. They were first class. The two eggs were a slight over cooked, but still runny, just a bit stiff, and hey, it's hard to hit a perfect egg cook. The corned beef hash was still the lean way I liked it, with that great outside char, but this one could've used a bit more potato to soften the texture. It was surprisingly a little stringy or tough. But flavorful. After being there for ten minutes, I began to wonder why no one was clearing these messy tables, especially at lunchtime. It was just a very bad look from my perspective as a diner. Soon enough though, my waitress began clearing the six tables. But there were a total of four wait staff hanging around. I figured, well, making up unneeded silverware packets looked "busy" and one person was doing most of the work. Some things should take priority for the overall impression of the restaurant, ya know? Lastly, the portion size is generous. I could only eat about half of the portion, but I'm trying to be healthy too, it was tasty and filling. My bill came to $15.54 because the hash itself was a $6 side. So I handed my waitress a $20 bill. Apparently they don't do a lot of cash orders. She had to go on the hunt for change. I overheard another server say that she had no cash in her "book." The front cashier apparently could not make change from the drawer. After a couple of minutes, my server returned with a fiver for change. I then left $3 tip, so it was an indulgent lunch for both calories and cost. Food is four stars, service 3-4 stars, surroundings had all the potential, but the multiple messy tables were a significant turn off. Especially since no clean booths were available, so two stars. If one did want to eat cheaper, there are plenty of affordable choices, which is nice.And there will be plenty of silverware wrapped in a napkin, which is also nice. read more

I always eat at Greer, Eggs Up Grill. I was disappointed that on Mothers Day that we can have a choice of a 3 free donuts selection. So at the end of my meal I was ready to order that special for Mothers Day of what they were offering and the waitress said they have no more. It 11:15am closes at 2pm. I was so upset to find out at the end of my meal. I was looking foward to my sweet treat. For a restaurant in business they should have enough of those donuts till near the end of time and they did have a limit to order so there should be no reason. If they were running out should have told me and I would of ordered it before my breakfast meal. So disappointed of my experience today. read more

We were seated at a table at the immediate entry on a Sunday morning at 10:20 AM (literally within steps of the front door, who wants to sit at the entry of a restaurant?). We asked for one of the OPEN booths (yes, there were 2 open) near the window and were told there were no servers available for those tables. Within minutes of our seating those tables were seated (no reserved signs and magically they had a server available). That said, none of my notes were taken into consideration. I asked for whole eggs in my omelette, and since I'm keto for health reasons, I clicked the button for no sides but asked for berries or tomato or cottage cheese - just something on the side. What arrived was a VERY oily egg white omelette with no sides and a cup of coffee. That was $20 and $30 with GrubHub fees. We've tried to come here several times. The food isn't terrible. What gets you first is that you walk in and you're never greeted. You wait forever until you finally get someone's attention to get seated. There's literally no hello, how many or anything. Completely ignored every time. The waitstaff is usually pretty decent but I think the food must sit before it comes to you because mine is always cold. Especially the home fries. The scrambled eggs are often runny and not done. If they would hire some help up front and do better at serving the food hot it would be better I think. read more

Had a delicious breakfast here the other day; I ordered the homestead platter which is a GREAT deal! 4, yes, 4 pieces of bacon AND sausage! *AND*, not or! Plus, 2 eggs cooked how you like, a homemade butter biscuit and a bowl of some of the best gravy you've ever had! All the meats were great, of course, as were the eggs. The biscuit was indescribable. Absolutely buttery golden, crispy but not crunchy and pillowy throughout. Best biscuit I've had in a very long time! (I could have eaten 5 more!) I also had a cup of coffee which was nice and a tasty cranberry mimosa. I don't know of any other places that have mimosas so this was a nice surprise! Its location in the old McAllister Square shopping center provides a nice and quiet atmosphere, perfect for those sleepyheads who are still waking up. Definitely worth a visit! Thanks! Located inside of McAlister Square, which at one time was a shopping mall, but is now a college campus, sits this location of Eggs Up Grill. It is located near the main entrance and while being inside of the campus is a little odd, it actually works...and with this location, parking is plentiful and easy! Eggs Up Grill itself is a small chain breakfast/lunch spot that originated on the coast of South Carolina...To really describe Eggs Up, I would compare it to a national chain, IHOP, but with a local feel. I mean no shade with this comparison, as I can tear up some IHOP any day of the week! We ended up at this location of Eggs Up Grill as it was pretty close to our AirBnB and we were craving some good southern style, no frills, hearty breakfast after a night of wine drinking on the patio. Luckily this place was two right turns and a parking lot away from us. When we arrived there was a wait and they quoted us about 25 - 30 minutes. They placed us on the wait-list and we began walking around the campus to waste some time. Given the current situation that requires social distancing, a positive of their location is you can freely wonder around or sit through out the campus while you wait instead of hanging around a large group of folks in a small area at the front of the restaurant. Additionally they utilize Yelp's Waitlist, which I LOVE! You can check on your place in line, and see what time you should be back to get seated. It's real time and super user friendly. We were told to be back at 11:11 AM, we got out table at 11:12 AM! Once we were sat, we were greeted pretty quickly by our waitress. She was friendly, helpful and energetic. Both of us are creatures of habit, so it didn't take long for us to decide what to order. One of us built our own biscuit with egg, cheese and ham with cheese grits on the side and the other went with the Mason Dixon with over-medium eggs and some cheese grits. Overall, the food was decent. Nothing crazy, but it hit the spot. Since we both got grits, I will start there. While I know grits don't inherently contain a lot of flavor, these grits were bland and honestly didn't have much flavor at all. We both added cheese and we tossed a pat of butter in the bowl, and combined with a bit of salt & pepper, we were able to make something out of it. Another thing that was duplicated on our plates were the biscuits. The biscuits were solid vessels for the sandwiches, you could tell they were frozen or refrigerated and not fresh made, however I did appreciate that they grilled or crisped up each biscuit. That extra touch really made the difference in the sandwiches. The ham, cheese and egg biscuit was great size and tasty. They made the eggs, cheese and ham into an omelet and then placed it on the biscuit. This was something we appreciated as well, as it made for easy eating and a healthy spread of all ingredients across the biscuit to ensure you tasted it all in every bite. The Mason Dixon is a simple dish that has a lot going on. You get a double sausage biscuit sided with a couple of eggs, a side and a bowl of sausage gravy for "dipping" that biscuit in. It honestly seemed like biscuits and gravy with extra steps. I am a B&G aficionado and ended up making this dish into just that. I split the biscuit, threw a patty on each and poured the gravy over. The biscuit was again toasted, which I liked...however the sausage was thin, overcooked and didn't contain much flavor. The gravy was thick, peppered just enough and featured enough sausage to make itself known. Service was solid from start to finish. The place was busy, but our waitress made it point to check on us and was there when we needed something. Something to note given the current COVID situation...They are currently abiding by the social distancing protocols by only seating every other table, as well as requiring guests to wear masks while moving around and the staff is wearing masks at all times. We really appreciated these measures to keep us safe! Overall, Eggs Up Grill is a solid place for a fairly priced, decent breakfast and.or lunch. I have no major complaints and when and if we are back in the area, Eggs Up will certainly be an option for us! read more

The food was very yummy. I got the florentine eggs benadict and grits (Though I do wish they put some salt in their grits and had other toppings besides butter for them. I think the don't for 'to taste' and they are ignorant Yankees.) The decor is very nice. The tables don't feel crowded. Not too noisy. Nice clean and pretty restroom. Nice order accuracy. Food out fairly quick. I do wished my waitress had paid a bit more attention to my mug. The problem is I don't do coffee. I do hot tea, and I was so thrilled, at first, that this place does pots of tea. The draw back is the pot only holds about a mug and a quarter, not two mugs. It also seemed that it was inconceivable to her I might want more. To give credit, I did eventually get more and was able to have it fixed exactly how I liked. It was, however, irritating to see her dash about with a coffee pot, yet have her eyes glaze over me, unable to get her attention, because I was "already taken care of" because I had a "pot of tea." It was super slow so we decided to stop in. Chrissy was our waitress and we asked for the condiments to not be on our burgers and of course they were. This place is clean, bright, and at the moment, new. It looks like the art to know how to serve breakfast. it looks like farm yard scenes everywhere. Iconic roosters and eggs and coffee. On my first visit I was greeted promptly shown to a seat and my server arrived quickly. Overall, I think that kept through my entire experience. The service was good. I ordered the number one item on the menu, the corned beef hash breakfast. In my estimation it was competently, if not artfully, delivered. It didn't look that good on the plate. But it tasted okay. I'm glad to see a traditional breakfast place open up in this part of town. They need it. I need it, sometimes. We get seated, sitting there for about 15 mins, our waitress never once made eye contact or said anything like I will be right with you. I did notice they were very short staffed and they were all floating where they were needed. The hostess ended up getting our drinks and order and becoming our waitress once I let them know nobody had came to our table. The other waitress never once made any connection, I guess she assumed the other girl would get our orders, etc. The hostess did end up being our waitress and another girl who looked like a cook helped us by getting us our food, silverware and to go boxes. Everyone was friendly and the hostess was apologetic regarding our wait. I got the waffle sandwich- bacon, egg and cheese. Waffle very soggy. They didn't bring me the maple syrup to dip it in, ended up getting my own out of the squeeze jar on the table. I will say the food came out really quick, but it wasn't hot either. I was so hungry I didn't even care at that point. The food wasn't that great. I'm not going to hold anything against anyone. They probably had people out sick. All I can say is do better.
