Definitely a bad place. The bouncer makes you repay to enter the establishment after paying the cover charge. So don't bother smoking or exiting for any reason. My guess is that the bouncer pockets the reentry cover charge. read more

I understand we're in a pandemic but I ordered two pitchers and both were half foam, one of which had a horrible after taster which tasted nothing like the beer I ordered, the speaker was blown so the music quality was terrible inside. Maybe the beer was low quality since they automatically charge a 20% gratuity fee meaning they don't care to strive for honest tips? Not a good experience, i probably will never return :/ read more

This place is so awesome! We've needed a place like this in Harrisonburg for a long time. This could totally be an awesome place for some adult time and equally as awesome to take the kiddos out for a fun evening! We went on a Sunday when they have their Happy Hour and have 1/2 price pizzas and draft beer. The pizza was delicious and fresh. I'm more impressed with the variety of activities in the place though. They have duck pin bowling for $20/hour that our kiddos loved. All the board games are free. They also have pool, ping pong, and foosball tables. Fun place right in the downtown area. We stopped at the children's museum to play on our road trip and thought this place would be good to eat. We ordered pizza, salad and Mac and cheese for the kid. The pizza was great. The Mac and cheese was ok. The service was slow for us being the only people eating at the time. That's the main reason for my 3 stars. We were in Harrisonburg for my brother's bachelor party weekend and just happened to stumble upon this Barcade while walking around. We each had food and played numerous games including bowling, ping pong, darts, arcade games, shuffle board, and the ring toss. We were here for about 3 hours and were never bored! My only complaint was that logistically the operations were a bit unorganized. That is to say we were sometimes confused about who actually had access to the ping pong tables and how the pricing worked exactly. I would recommend making the process more clear to everyone and adding a few more games - it's a HUGE space! The food was amazing and all of us were able to get something even with various allergies/diets. read more

The bouncers at night are schemers that will try to overcharge anyone they think is incapable of noticing. I've gone in there twice and both times they've overcharged me and when i went to talk to the bouncer they claimed it was "my fault for walking away" after THEY gave me the wrong change the first time honestly felt it was a sketchy place afterwards. Half of the food we ordered never came and the food that did come was in to go boxes with a check! Our waiter obviously hated us because we were a group of young women and was completely disrespectful the entire time. We were trying to have a fun time, since it was a birthday party and it is a restaurant that advertises all of their games and how they have a bowling alley, but they thought we were annoying? I guess? There was no reason that we should have been asked to leave. I felt all the employee's eyes on us the entire time while we were NOTHING wrong! Met the best guy I've ever been with here. It's a great place to eat, chill out & talk, play games, etc. Its a relaxed atmosphere, cheap great food, sweet bar, and fun games. After being harassed by an African American bouncer on why my expired ID was in my wallet, I tried to pay the cover charge and said my friend was paying for me and he immediately switched his tone, got rude, and told us to leave. Whoever runs this bar you lost good business of 7-8 individuals. I can't believe a grown adult male got his panties in a bunch to try to exercise the small amount of authority he has. My friends and I live in downtown Harrisonburg and were excited about Ruby's Arcade opening. The arcade games are fun, though a little pricy considering you can play darts, pool, and shuffleboard for free at other restaurants/breweries within a block of the arcade. The food and food service at Ruby's Arcade is alarmingly poor. Tonight for example 5 friends and I went for dinner thinking that the poor experience we had during the restaurants opening week might have been an aberration. It appears instead that the restaurant is regressing. After waiting 70 minutes for food to arrive only 4 of the 6 entrees came out and the speciality salad entree was missing three ingredients listed in the menu description. After it became clear that the remaining two entrees where not closely following the first four my friends started eating. About the time they were finished the remaining two entrees arrived. The waitress' approach to the exceedingly poor organization of the kitchen appeared to be to ignore the problem and consequently our table. Going out to dinner is about the experience as much as about the food. The food is marginal. The experience overwhelmingly negative. I love Harrisonburg's downtown and there are certainly some very good restaurants, bars, and hangouts in town. Ruby's Arcade is NOT one of these places. There are far to many fun and interesting places to eat, drink, and spend time downtown than to spend time at Ruby's Arcade. read more

I'm normally not someone who would write a review, especially a negative one. However, my experience at Ruby's arcade recently was not very good. I was looking forward to a nice evening out with friends when a certain individual from their staff proceeded to be rude and act like we were inconveniencing him. Throughout the whole night he continued to make snarky comments and made us feel unwelcome. It was like he targeted us and wanted to start drama. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but after numerous sassy remarks and talking condescending to us, I decided that this wouldn't be a place I would be going to again. I work in customer service so I understand that it isn't always delightful, but I also know you can't treat customers as he did and expect to keep good business. Other employees that night were very polite and respectful and had excellent customer service. Unfortunately, it only takes one inexperienced person to make a lasting impression. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! We went for lunch during the week and we had a blast! Lunch buffet was $9.95 per person and the food was pretty good. Our server was amazing and we had a lot of fun. A few friends and I visited Ruby's tonight (a Thursday). It was my first time there. I was pleasantly surprised by the food after reading some reviews here. The menu is simple, but it seems like they do those items well. We ordered 2 pizzas, a salad, and a pulled pork sandwich. They pride themselves on menu items that are homemade fresh daily and I can see why; we didn't have any leftovers. The service was prompt and the food was delivered quickly. After dinner, we bowled for an hour. It was fun and low pressure because we didn't pay by the game, we paid by the hour. I liked having something to do after dinner rather than just sitting around and talking. We didn't have to wait for a lane to open up to bowl. There were many other games to play as well. The only thing that could be improved is the noise level. As more people came in and started playing games instead of eating dinner, it got pretty loud. With bowling noise and loud music, it was difficult to hold a conversation. I wouldn't recommend Ruby's if you're aiming for a romantic dinner, but it was a good, new option for having dinner with friends. read more

I don't understand why an arcade that is ridiculously empty has a line that is going down the block. No bouncer was around and while multiple crowds of people were coming out, nobody was being let in. The bouncer's response to people was "I'm keeping count". Count of what? This place is absolutely terrible. My friend gave the bouncer her real ID, we are all 21 years old. The bouncer takes it, puts it in his pocket and asks all of us to leave. We finally were able to convince him to give it back but he still kicked all of us out for no reason. I tried to go back inside and ask for a manager but the bartender said there wasn't one. As I left to go back outside, the bouncer harassed me and my friends on multiple occasions. He followed us all the way outside and just kept running his mouth until we decided to go to dodger instead. He was either very drunk or trying to start trouble which is completely opposite of a bouncer's duties. I have never written a yelp review but this deserves it. I planned a birthday celebration for my daughter and several of her girl friends. My daughter, a college student was turning 21 and I wanted to do something fun for the girls. I had called a few days ahead and made a reservation. I spoke to a man by the name of Shimmear or something similar, who worked in the restaurant part of Ruby's. He made my reservation and even called me back to confirm. When we all arrived he greeted us, he was standoffish and we all were a little put off, thought he was just weird? We ordered drinks, he gave all those who were of age a very hard time and demanded two forms of ID, most only had their licenses on them. The girls all decided they were fine with having soft drinks and water, it was a big exam day the next day. The one man that was with us had two forms of ID however our waiter wasn't satisfied with his ID and refused to serve him, again that was fine. We ordered food and started to enjoy the evening and the festivities that brought us to a bowling alley/ arcade. The waiter, let's call him waiter since I am not sure of his proper name came and pulled me away from my party three times, each time asking if he could have a word with me. I felt like a school girl being reprimanded by the teacher each time. It was beginning to get a out of control and his behavior was becoming offensive. The next thing we knew there was another young woman at our table with boxes explaining our waiter has refused to serve us the additional food I ordered. The waiter instructed her to box up the food and the cake I had specially delivered, make i to go boxes. We were also told by this young woman to leave before the waiter called the police. Surprised by his I was in total shock, to be treated this way since we haven't been the rude and inappropriate people in this situation, we were the victims of harassment and hate. This man had a chip on his shoulder with our group from the moment we walked in! Beware, this is not a friendly place you would want to go celebrate a birthday or go and have a fun evening of bowling or bingo! This waiter had totally destroyed my daughters evening and humiliated her in front of friends who were there to celebrate her birthday. Ruby's is a horrible place, for anyone who is seeking a fun, happy, good vibe place to have a night out with friends or loved ones. Don't put yourself in this situation to be harassed and treated like you have done something wrong because you are a young, beautiful woman! He had issues, big bad issues and he should be ashamed of himself for treating any human being this way, black, white, man or woman we are all gods creations and we are all equal and should be treated with respect! Someone should have taught that man this life lesson, he would probably not have so many bad reviews on yelp if they did!! Pizza is good, beer is good, but I really hate how you don't get an itemized receipt when you close out your tab. It's like they expect you to tip for the games you play. Everytime I tip how I usually do and then don't realize until after the fact that I just tipped on food AND games. I will not be back until they change that. read more

I cannot say enough how great the people are at Ruby's arcade. I had plans to take my students there for a field trip, but unfortunately it was flooded from the huge downpour we had on 5/31/18. They were kind enough to email the night of to tell me they had to cancel, and I was able to set something up in time. Even though the arcade was flooded they still offered to make pizza for my students the next day, and they delivered it to us at Westover park. The owner was incredibly nice, and the staff that delivered the pizza was fantastic. I will definitely be using the arcade again for events, and I definitely recommend that anyone else do the same. read more

I've visited this place five times in the last week!The food is fantastic. It's now my favorite buffet, and one of my favorite hangouts in the Burg. The servers are friendly. It's the sort of place anyone, any age can hang out and feel comfortable. I love the variety of games and the scheduled competitions. I have not had a single bad experience at this venue; in fact, I've invited my friends to eat there with me and there was barely any talking, while we ate, due to how great the food was. This is the perfect addition to Harrisonburg--a comfortable, fun space dedicated to people having a good time. It's a bright and well-lit space, great for bowling during weekends or a drink with a group of adults in the evening. I've never visited a brand-new business that didn't have some sort of hiccups; for those reviews being hard on this business, they should remember all the local businesses which have had the same hiccups--venues which we now all love and frequent. This place should not be called an arcade. First all, no arcade games. Only thing it has going for it is the duck pin bowling which was something different. I do not like the idea of mixing people getting drunk with people bringing their kids to play games. The beer selection isn't that great and it's expensive at that. Also, to play a game, order food, get a beer, you have to see the bartender. They are so overwhelmed with people when it's busy, you basically have to yell at them to get some service.
