I attempted several times to make an appointment with Ruby. Nobody answers the phone and we ended up communicating by email back and forth trying to get a date and time worked out. Finally I suggested a couple of options a week out, she chose one and I thought we were set. Then on the morning of the appointment, I get an email saying that it's no longer available. When I texted her, she said that I hadn't confirmed so she canceled. There had been no attempt to reach me for confirmation and I certainly hadn't been asked before to confirm. She also made no attempt to reschedule or make it right in any way. Very poor communication skills and customer service. read more

Ruby did a wonderful job on my hair. It is difficult to find a person even willing to do a curly perm these days. Last salon I went to only has one stylist who does them and only a couple of days a week. Ruby was extremely responsive with Yelp messages, responding quickly and finding an appointment for me quickly. As a former cosmetology school student, I know good work. Everything was thorough and precise. Ruby did a beautiful, clean wrap job. She didn't ask me to hold papers and hand them to her. I know it is convenient to ask the client to do this, but I like salon time to be relaxing, so this was a very welcome change for me. She was very careful to rinse the perm solution well, especially on the back of my head where it is more difficult to reach. She was very conscientious about making sure I didn't get unnecessarily wet with either water or solution. She checked in with me regularly to see if I was ok. She only put in my hair product I asked for! This is a huge deal for me, because with a perm you can't wash it for a few days, so you're stuck with whatever goop the stylist uses for a while. Ruby actually asked me how I style it and what I wanted to use in it. Believe it or not, this is quite unusual. Her price was very fair. I will definitely be back and will recommend her to others. read more
