The Pad Thai had thin rice noodles that were thick and had great noodle bounce and chew. The pad thai sauce was sweet and savory. Perfect combination of flavors. The Massaman Curry is peanut and coconut based. Super fragrant, sweet and nutty. It is also filled with fresh vegetables and potatoes. Would order again. Rudee's Thai Cuisine is a cute find in the Bala Cynwyd/Wynnewood area. The location is a little secluded on the Main Line but worth going if you are not too far and are craving great Thai food. My friend and I went there around 7:45 P.M. after taking care of some goats and we're glad we did. The owner was really nice as she immediately sat us down and provided us with the menu. As we ordered our dishes, she warned us of Thai spice which can be very spicy for those who are inexperienced with spice. Thankfully she was nice enough to warn us. Our food was quickly cooked and served within 10 minutes and the food was delicious. My friend and I both ordered Egg Rolls which was rightly crisp and chunkier with a lot of filling than most I've had in the past. Then we both got Medium Spicy Basil and Pad Kimow, which was perfectly spiced and seasoned. My husband and I ordered the Tom kha to go and it was inedible. It had an awful stench and the soup tasted spoiled (like a salty vinegary brine). The veggies floating in the soup tasted rancid. We question for how long it was sitting out. We had to throw away the entire dish. Giving Rudee's Thai 1 star for the Thai ginger with tofu as this was edible, but just okay. Traveling During COVID 19 The bar was set at a Thai restaurant in Roswell, GA that boasts a photo by the register of Steven Tyler, who apparently ate there. Rudee's was good, don't get me wrong, but not the best Thai food I've had. During the pandemic Rudee's has a thriving takeout business with the phone constantly ringing, and filled orders waiting to be picked up by food delivery services and hungry patrons. There are a number of tables -- one can dine indoors -- and the employee we had contact with was masked and distanced. Though we took the food back to our apartment, I actually would have been okay eating in the restaurant. It looked very clean. Plus nobody was there at 5:00. We started with Tom Kah -- a coconut milk soup -- which was pungent, though somewhat thin. We prefer a creamier version. I was partial to the "tofu crisps" -- deep fried wedges with a chili dip. Panang chicken curry was very saucy and beef pad si-ew was average, a little light on the beef. We finally made it here on Columbus Day for the lunch special. We asked for spicy with no sympathy and it was on point- everything was delicious. This is a truly authentic Thai restaurant. I am very skeptical of trying Thai restaurants during the LUNCH time. I personally find dinner to surpass the lunch with regards to taste and presentation but Rudee's did exceptionally well and gave us a splendid homemade lunch. The desert was sensational too! We placed a pickup order and received 2 incorrect items. When I called the restaurant to report it, the owner/manager told me that I was wrong and I received exactly what I had ordered. As I had ordered the same items many times before, I knew this was not the case, however she became very argumentative. Terrible customer service shown towards a fairly frequent customer. We won't be back. And the food now isn't as good as it used to be anyway- there are much better Thai options in the city. We have been searching for food that compares to what we had in Thailand, this hits the mark! The use of super fresh herbs and vegetables makes each dish so tasty. Awesome little Thai spot tucked away in the Wynnewood shopping center. It's got a more casual decor with a modest amount of seating and delicious food. We had the chicken satay and steamed dumplings for appetizers and were blown away by the flavors. The peanut sauce on the chicken and the filling on the dumplings were standouts. Main dishes were generously portioned. The chicken and pork Pad Thai were delicious. A friend had the Panang Curry with beef with "lvl 3" spice and it definitely had a kick to it. Service was friendly and fully met expectations with quick attendance throughout the meal. Really clean looking place. I tried this spot for lunch despite my hesitation over the price. The food that I ate was ok all the flavors you expect from Thai food were there just very lightly. I asked beforehand about the authenticity of the papaya salad and was assured everything was in there except the dried shrimp, a lot of the pungent thins that make the salad great were omitted. I've tried Rudee's twice now and have had great experiences both times. Their food is tasty and they use a lot of fresh herbs which I appreciate. Lovely immaculate decor, exceedingly pleasant and earnest staff, and the soup and papaya salad were as fresh and tasty as I have had anywhere.
