So for starters, walking up to the street front of this restaurant it is a local restaurant and takeout I'm not fancy about it. However, the menu is tremendous! It has every possible offering for Thai food that you can think of so we were immediately impressed with the variety of choices. My friend who is Lao Asian was very impressed that they even included some delicious entrées from Laos. When the food arrived, which was lightning fast and was cooked, made to order, it is by far, the most amazing Thai food I have ever eaten. EVER!!! in fact, these meals were so good that we ordered extra meals to take home with us so we would have more of the following day!!! Great neighborhood Thai spot with very reasonable prices. I only got the Thai chicken wings and soup, which were both a hit. The wings are perfectly crispy , even with being covered by a Thai chili sauce. The sauce isn't overly sweet like other sweet Thai chili sauces and wings. Everything about this order couldn't be more perfect from the delivery (Thank you DoorDash driver!) to the food which was amazing. We had pork gyoza with a sweet/spicy soy dipping sauce that I wished we'd gotten more of, spring rolls and shrimp dumplings along with panang and red curry. Believe me when I say that I could have put either curry in a cup and drank it. Seriously. Without the shrimp or rice just the curry. Finding good curry not even great one in Philadelphia has been a journey and not a successful until Sunrise 2. Most curries are way too thin or bland and forget trying to find the difference between the red or panang has been impossible. These were wonderful and amazing! I do, however, have one tiny gripe, please send more than an 8 ounce container of rice with each order. I did find it amusing to only have a cup of rice for a quart of your curry. But yes, and I'll admit it, I wanted to have leftovers the next night! We were just lucky that DD would deliver this far to my house. Thanks guys!! read more

Great pad Thai and drunken noodles. Good flavor and spice. The only thing is in the pad Thai we got veggies and tofu and it needs more tofu, it only had a few pieces. We've also tried the pineapple fried rice which was good but wish it had more spice and next time will ask for medium spicy. It had raisins and nuts and a good amount of pineapple. I read the reviews and thought thai food, great. I was very disappointed. My appetizer was good but nothing to rave about, the real disappointment came from the Tom Kha soup. Tom Kha soup has always been made in my experience with lemongrass, galangal, and chilies (among other things) adding flavor and a sour / spicy taste to the coconut cream. This Tom Kha had no flavor except sweet coconut milk. I did not see any lemongrass in it, nor galangal. Cabbage was added as filler which was not very appealing either. Not a lot of chicken either. Such a hole in the wall spot! Some of the most authentic Thai food in fishtown area. They're always quick when I order over the phone or through uber eats. Also great customer service. I loved the crispy duck salad so much that I didn't want to stop to save half for my partner. The wings were SO good - crispy, tangy, just absolutely perfect. We got Drunken Noodles & Empek-Empek, tofu Tom Yum soup & shrimp Tom Kha soup, shrimp tempura, and crab rangoon. The Drunken Noodles won the day - jammed into a very full takeout container, the chef hadn't skimped on the veggies & the sauce was maybe the best we've ever had on Drunken Noodles. Empek-Empek was a new dish for me. I'd definitely eat it again. Three types of fish cake were included, including one wrapped around a hard-boiled egg. The sauce was surprisingly - and delightfully - spicy. The soups were better than some other Thai places I've frequented. The Tom Yum was flavorful & fresh tasting, and the Tom Kha did NOT skimp on the coconut milk. That soup was very rich. Crab Rangoon were similarly fresh. Ordered chicken Pad See Ew to go tonight and it was absolutely terrible! It tasted like a mixture of old grease and shrimp. So beware if you have a seafood allergy, as my chicken entree was obviously contaminated with shrimp. The soup was great, spicy and on point, the pad thai portion was so generous that I have a ton of it leftover. It was tasty but could have had more sour or tamarind to it. The salad I expected to be like som tum, but it was made with the fresh ripe mango instead, with red onion, spring onion, cashews, squid and shrimp, and it arrived hot. I really had high hopes for this place being so close to us and just opening. But we were disappointed. We order drunken noodles with medium spice. Had no spice/heat and was just a plastic bin of super wet noodles with barely any chicken. Had almost no flavor. Order pineapple rice, this wasn't any better, the rice were over cooked and mushy and had little flavor as well. Order green curry and came super spicy, so had flavor but they forgot the white rice with it, but came with tons of chicken. So we got a bowl of sauce and ingredients and no rice. Luckily we were close and asked to have them drop off the rice, arrived 45 mins later well after dinner time. That's kind of key to getting a dish that comes in all liquid form, need white rice to pour it on. Just not the best experience. But I will order again in hopes it was just a one off. And I have to try the pad Thai to see if they can get that right. But by no means did the food deserve a high rating. It wasn't terrible, but could certainly be better. read more

I've ordered from here 2x through Uber Eats. It takes longer than any restaurant on the app, to prepare the food. I've ordered Pad See Ew in Bangkok, New York, and other Philly restaurants. It's the worst I've had. Little flavor, and not authentic. Additionally, the first time I ordered Thai Tea here, it was literally iced coffee. This time they had a closer version to the authentic type. If the food was flavorful and authentic, it would make up for the long wait time. read more

The Tom Kha soup was delicious and filling. We also got the crab wontons which were tasty and seemed to have actual crab rather than imitation crab. The only thing is the Pad Thai is so dry we can't even eat it. I've had this happen at other restaurants so I asked for extra sauce in hopes it would be good. Again it is dry, I don't think they added the extra sauce and we're planning on making our own sauce so our main entree doesn't go to waste. read more

Great service! Lovely people. The food was awesome. we had about ten different dishes between us and everyone was pleased. The menu was easy to navigate and had a good selection with all the things you'd want. Room for improvement: the seating area was a little musty smelling. Could easily be fixed with a little damp rid. We forgot to say our spice level and weren't asked so everything was mild. This place may not jump out at you from the outside, but it's quite the hidden gem. We ended up there by accident and were just amazed. We eat Thai food often, so we thought we were going to get more of the same (which would have been fine), but it turned out to be even better than we expected. The appetizers, the soup, the main dishes, and the desserts were all wonderfully delicious and creative (e.g. the salmon and mango salad from the chef's specials or the two-layered coconut pudding). What an excellent new takeout option in fishtown! When Ekta moved I was very curious what would take its place. Fishtown's really got no solid Thai option so I was happy to give Sunrise a try when it opened. I haven't had the curries yet, but the noodle dishes are all fantastic. Plenty of fresh sautéed veggies which have the right amount of bite. Little bit of spice but not too much. Chewy noodles. Just all around well done Thai standards.
