I don't know if I'll ever order anything but this. I can't wait to go back. I also ordered Tom Yum Soup. Delicious. Lots of vegetables. I hear the wonton soup is also special. Tiny little wontons. Tried this place after taking our kiddo to the playroom next door. Food is super tasty! Some of the best pho we've had, maybe because it reminds me of my mom's, flavorful and fresh. Their other soups have a healthy dose of garlic too, which I love. The Lao sausage is yummy and bursting with lemongrass flavor. I love that the sausage isn't that salty or spicy, and they give you a salty/spicy dipping sauce on the side so you can tweak it to your liking. Prices are average. Stopped here for supper still looking for great Thai in Chester County. Some winners here and some not so much. Tom yum soup was a started for my dining partner. They enjoyed it but felt it was a little too sweet and was missing some lemon grass. We also tried the Laotian sausage. This was excellent and enjoyed - nice char, great spicing - but avoided the very spicy condiment. Sticky rice was a $3.50 up charge which I think is excessive so we passed on that. My dining partner was very pleased with the pad Thai, probably the best we have found in Chester County. I ordered the Pad Hi Ma Parn (Cashew) with chicken. I asked for not spicy - I tend to go easy when I am at a new place -I got no spice at all. The sauce was very broth. Vegetables although very fresh were not even close to crisp tender - almost raw - and the chicken was almost nonexistent. The dining room was pleasant; music was of the elevator kind and seemed to play over and over again. The waiter was fine but had limited facility of English so we just punted in a few cases. Got a confirmation order that will be ready in 15 minutes. The place is in Lancaster Ave, and it is not easy to enter if you are on opposite lane. There are plenty of parking spots back and some in front. The food was ready as I walked in and was nicely packed with spoon,fork and napkin. They even offered hit oil, which was cool. Coming to the food, as I opened the box, the fried rice had nice flavor and tasted so fresh. The quantity was so filling for a lunch and big kudos for that. The vegetables mixed along with chicken were at the right balance, and basil flavor was oedfectly infused into the rice as well as chicken. The taste was delicious even without adding the hot oil, but the hot oil kicked it to the next level. If you are around, try this place, and wypu will be happy. We ordered takeout the other day for lunch, and all aspects of our visit were quite positive. To start, we checked out the menu online, which denotes gluten-free options - this is great and somewhat rare among Asian restaurants. We called in our order and mentioned that we wanted gluten-free, and a few minutes after placing it, we received a follow-up call because the chef said some of the items we'd ordered aren't gluten-free. That was a nice touch. For our lunch, we ordered Tom Kha, Panang Curry, Pad Thai, and Golden Triangle. Everything had great flavor, in particular the brown sauce for the Golden Triangle and the Tom Kha. Takeout process was pretty good and safe too - I was motioned to open the door, where the staff greeted me with a tablet in hand to process payment, and then he handed me my food. This is easily the worst Thai I have ever had in my life. I honestly don't understand the good reviews--but maybe I tried the wrong things! I'm a foodie and I hated it; my mom is NOT a foodie and even she thought it was pretty mediocre--definitely not worth the price. My nicer dad said, "mediocre; probably wouldn't eat there again." We got the bualoy dumplings, drunken noodles, massaman curry, and papaya salad. Bualoy dumplings were good; I enjoyed them, though the flavor was a bit acidic for my taste. Massaman curry was glorified water. It was the consistency of water, and didn't have much more flavor. Veggies in both the curry and the drunken noodles were the chopped frozen ones that you can buy at the grocery store. Pretty nasty. The drunken noodles were the definition of average. Papaya salad was also the definition of average. Think "eh." You eat a mouthful of food, and then wonder if it's really worth the calories. This restaurant is the Kmart of Thai food. read more

Very flavorful. I had the chili wings and they were AMAZING. Very crispy and the chili sauce was lightly sweet. I also ordered the veggie fried rice and it came with fried tofu. The rice was very flavorful as well. My boyfriend ordered the tofu curry, he thought it was really great. Our waitress was so sweet as well! I was looking for places to eat when traveling for work and this place stood out on Yelp. It was my first time having Laotian food and I was quite impressed. We started with some appetizers: Thai chili wings, spring rolls, pork satay, and golden triangles. All of them were pretty good, but nothing outstanding in my opinion. Then for entrees we got Nam Khoa Salad and Homemade Laotian Sausage (spicy). Both of them were amazing. The sausage wasn't too spicy. It had a ton of flavor. I wouldn't have usually gotten it, but after reading the Yelp reviews, I had to try it. The salad was a little sweet and the flavors worked perfectly together. I loved the crispy rice. Our food came out fast. They weren't great about refilling our water. They let us split the check which we've had issues with at other restaurants in the area. Very refined Thai / Laos food that we very much enjoyed. We both had a soup for an appetizer and shared so that we could experience both choices. You get your choice of thinly sliced chicken, vegetables or tofu. The Tom Kah had a light coconut milk in it, which was a nice change from the traditional Tom Kah that I've had and has always been much heavier. The Tom Yum was light and had a perfect hint of lime, with delicious tender mushrooms. For a main meal I had the Larb Gai Salad, and with the request of some additional pieces of lettuce, we ate this like lettuce wraps. The onions and peppers that were in the mixture were shaved very thinly, allowing them to add flavor while also making the mixture easy to eat as wraps. We also shared a shredded cabbage salad that was very flavorful, and some of the most delicious dumplings. The service was attentive, and our server was very personable. And, the prices very extremely reasonable for the high quality. They have several tables outside with umbrellas, so we sat outside on a perfect summer evening. The Thai food was okay, but the pho was not good. I ordered from here since we're trying to find new Thai and Vietnamese places. Based on the reviews, I was expecting to be impressed. The sampler apps were good, but the Thai chicken stir fry was not very tasty and oily. The pho was the worst - it was very salty but missing the multi-layered flavors of a good beef soup base. Also, the broth was a very pale shade of brown which kind of tipped me off on how it maybe off. CURBSIDE SERVICE COVID-19 REVIEW - Bualoy is a Lao restaurant in Devon, PA. It was fairly near Knox Covered Bridge in Valley Forge Historic Park, and the right place to pick up a late lunch to take home. We parked out front and were greeted by a friendly order taker who handed us a paper menu and made good suggestions in response to our inquiry about what they did best. The conversation led to ordering Homemade Laotian Sausage, Nam Khao Salad and spicy Drunken Noodles with Beef. Fifteen minutes later she returned with our neatly packed meal. Arriving home 50 minutes later, the sausage was still warm, the salad cool and the drunkens, hot. We liked all three dishes. The sausage had the interesting flavor of lemongrass, cilantro, onion and ground veggies mixed with pork. It came with a small side of mashed chilli sauce which added a kick. The Nam Khao was cool and hot with special mention to the crushed peanuts that were fried with a mild sweetener that added unusual interest to the dish. The Drunken Noodles were wide rice pasta loaded with green pepper, onion, carrot and sprouts in a three star hot scale brown gravy. Delicious. We can only imagine how much better our meal would have been had we been able to eat in restaurant when everything was right from the kitchen. I am a previous patron of the former excellent thai restaurant that was at this location. I loved the food at Mayouie (spelling wrong of course). I think they had a following for excellent food that was served with a twist. ;-) I was really hoping that this new restaurant would live up to the hype and be comparable. First of all the servers were excellent! Super friendly and warmly welcoming. We brought wine and samples a few delicious dishes. Everything tasted super fresh and delicious. Everyone was raving about the vegetarian Nom Khao salad that I had to taste it for my self. Let's just say I might go back and have it for lunch today! Such a delicious assortment of crunchy ribbons of vegetables with crispy and soft rice. I picked mine up in the lettuce leaf and ate it like a wrap. It was phenomenal. We shared the appetizer sampler's which was pretty standard. One simple observation was that I felt that the spring roll might have been store-bought, but it was still pretty stander and tasty. The Chicken wings were the winner on this plate. I really enjoyed my pad Thai though. My husband ordered drunken noodles that came out very mild but when he mentioned it, they swept away the dish and quickly tossed them in the wok with more spice. He was very pleased with the end result. The noodles were absolutely delicious. I didn't try the coconut soup which is leaving me feeling like a missed out. The table next to us we're really enjoying theres. The crispy duck that kept on passing by looked so amazing. Perhaps I'll eat that for dinner. Pho'k yeah! (OK, not originally clever, but clever nonetheless) It's been super cold out lately and, while feeling a little rundown, we decided to grab some takeout pho, along with some fried rice and spring rolls. So, I'll take you from the least to most impressive of our order (spoiler alert: it was all delicious). The fried rice was on par if not a little better than what I'd expect. I didn't have to search for any of the veggies or chicken - there was plenty of both. Next, the spring rolls were filled nicely with a light crispy bite and the duck sauce had a surprising zip... something I haven't really encountered with duck sauce (and it was positive find). In a perfect world, I'd change the portion size - for the price, perhaps there could've been 3 instead of 2 spring rolls. But, they were quality so I will definitely add them to my cart next time we order. Lastly, and most impressive, was the Pho Tai. I feel like pho is among the more difficult things for take-out but Bua Loy did all the right things you'd expect from a sit-in dining experience (including sides of sriracha and hoisin). The broth was light on the tongue yet rich and flavorful without being oily. Most importantly, the beef was of superior quality and better than any pho I've ever had - it was a slightly thicker cut than what I've been used to as well... great job Bua Loy folks! In sum, we thought that moving out of the city would put us out of reach of the best pho places (think the ones on 9th-12th & Washington) - but I have renewed faith and am super happy to have found this gem.... my new go-to for pho! read more
