But that's not why it gets 5 stars.. it gets 5 because there's been a few times where i have gone and Bobbie wasn't there.. but you know what? My barber's schedule was full, and I needed a next-day appointment... .. . MISTAKE! I hate to say this, but it was the worst haircut I've ever received. The fade was not good, and my sideburns were different lengths. She used the straight razor without cream. It was just bad. I cut my own hair better during COVID. I wish I remembered the name of the lady who cut my hair. I normally don't go to Rudy's, but decided to give them a shot, since it is conveniently on campus. The sign up for an appointment and everything up to the haircut was smooth and easy. Unfortunately, The haircut is probably the worst I've had so far and I've had 4-5 different people in different locations (LA, Bay Area, Taipei, Seattle) cut the same style I desired since January 2018. As usual, I showed the haircutter pics of the cut I wanted from different sides of my head. She did pretty well with the sides and back, but destroyed my bangs. The bangs ended up looking strange and uneven. It looked like a 5 year old tried- to-cut-their-own-bangs uneven. I think she tried to save it by sort of slicking it back with wax or something. Went in for a haircut today. Hair stylist thought she knew what she was doing (said she had 10 years experience), but she did not know how to fade very well. There was a section of hair that she did not fade at all and went straight across with the clippers. At the point I noticed this, there was no point of fixing or making a scene, but proceeding. Rest of the hair looked fine after some guidance. If the establishment is going to charge $36 for men's cut, I shouldn't have to worry about technique or if the cut is going to look good. I have been going for a few months so far, but I have been getting my hair cut with Weylene for years, even before she started working there. She is the only one that really gets my hair done the way my wife likes it. She also trims my beard and does a great job at that too. She is very friendly and makes time fly. When I worked at Microsoft it was just so convenient to get a hair cut break. I no longer work at Microsoft but I still go and see her. It is worth the trip. The salon in general is very nice and the location is super convenient. It is in commons. They have an online booking system and the price of the haircuts is very reasonable. read more

Lame. I literally just went in right now and there were 2 stylists (1 open) and the receptionist. I was told they were closing early because it was "super slow" even though there was still someone getting a haircut with 1 of the 2 stylists. As a consolation, I was offered to come back next week. Really? Great way to lose easy money. You have an open stylist just sitting there.. I've also been here months before and got a bad fade with a line. Actually had to go back the next day to fix it. To their credit, they do have a 7 day guarantee but that's probably because they need it to mitigate the complaints. Won't be back. read more

I've been coming here a few years, and each time, I tell myself I'll just give it one more shot. I've always had good experiences in the Seattle location, but this one is more convenient for me. After today, though -- not convenient enough. I have had cuts from most of the employees there, but there is one stylist in particular whom I vaguely dread. Today, of course, I landed with her. We began as normal, me describing what a trim and touch up for my short, clippers cut meant to me. I asked for a blend up the back, generally shorten the growth on the top and sides, and trim slightly around my face. The first thing she did was to shave a hard line across the back. If she shortened or paid any attention at all to the top and sides, it didn't show. She straight up gave me an elementary school bowl cut on the back of my head. During the time it took her to do this, she pressed the clippers directly into a soft place on the side of my neck, far below my hair line. It hurt and I jumped, but she mumbled a quick "sorry" and kept clippering. When she asked if I wanted a shampoo before I left, I was surprised. She had only clippers the back, and hasn't even touched the front half of my head. I asked to see the back. My neck hurt. After seeing the hard, long, unlayered cut across the back, I tried not to panic. I asked if she could please blend it a little, and shorten the long parts. She seemed incredulous. During this whole process, she had barely said a word -- asked no questions, got no clarification from me. I showed her a photo of my last cut. She said, "Oh, BLEND." And went back to it. My neck stung badly. Ten minutes later and she asks again if I want a shampoo. She hasn't touched the front of my face, which has like an inch of sloppy ends I had asked to be removed. My neck is killing me so I just make some sort of positive remark about finally getting my growth off and hightail it out. At the register, I see she's marked me for a long cut, which is $45. My head is shorn to a 00 and she literally only touched the back half. Thankfully, the person on register changed it before I had to say anything. I practically ran to my car. The first thing I noticed was that every part of my hair was too long, as she hadn't addressed the front, top, or sides at all. It was split and ugly around my face. And when I checked the back, there was just a big round bump sircling the back of my head. In no world could this be considered even rudimentary blending. My neck still bothered me, so, near tears now, I pulled down my scarf to check. There was a huge, red, bleeding wound where she had clippered into the fleshy part of my neck. It looks like the biggest hickey you've ever seen, if the hickey were given by the metal teeth of escalator steps. It clearly needed to be dressed. It stung and burned badly. It was nowhere hear any part of my head that grows hair. It very well might scar. I'm ashamed to put in public with a weird bump on the back, an extra inch of trash split ends dangling around my face, and a HUGE, PAINFUL NECK WOUND. I am so disappointed by this Rudy's. My boyfriend went in for a cut and asked for a fade with a high top. Kristi went straight in with the buzzer so there was NO FADE whatsoever. She used gel at the end which was too wet to actually do anything. The correct product for that style would've been a pomade or wax. To top it all off, no towel or paper was wrapped around his neck so hair just fell directly into his shirt. Being a salon ON A COMPANY CAMPUS you would think that minor but necessary detail would be included for the people who have to go to work after their haircut. read more

I am going to stop going here. I have had too many bad haircuts. It seems stylists are most concerned about chopping your hair quickly before the next appt. Just part of the assembly line with no attention to detail. I have had better luck with Capitol Hill and Fremont locations but Rudy's in general isn't as good as it used to be. I had an appointment for a long haircut with Phoebe. I have naturally wavy/curly hair and I was looking for a layered haircut. I tried my best to explain my hair texture to her and showed her a photo of my hair with a layered cut that I liked before. Unfortunately the haircut I received was not flattering and poorly done. The haircut was quick and rough and she spent little time making sure the cut was even. In fact it was one of the quickest haircuts I've ever gotten, which was one of many bad signs. I also tried to tell her that the top layer of my hair was too blunt twice but she insisted that she had faded my layers properly and used point cutting to make it less blunt. But when you take half a person's hair and chop it four inches shorter than the rest no amount of point cutting is going to save that. To make it even worse she decided cutting the front-most portion of my hair shorter would ease my concerns, even though I explicitly stated that I didn't want face framing... As someone who doesn't have perfectly straight hair I'm used to getting less than perfect cuts but for the price this is incredibly disappointing. I at least expected her to take more time making sure the cut was even. I'd recommend going somewhere else. read more

Korene is my go-to for cuts. They're open early and I like to come in for a cut and wash before starting the work day. Microsoft employees get a discount too, which only helps. read more

A friend of mine and I stopped by today to get a quick haircut. The signs outside said "walk in's welcome" and "we support equal rights". There was not one chair occupied and another male customer was just exiting. We were met by a red headed "Karen" who freaked and demanded we not enter. She had a thermometer in her hand and I assumed needed to take our temperature to make sure we weren't exhibiting symptoms. She said we needed to make a reservation and she had availability for tomorrow. I said I felt that my rights were being compromised as there were no clients in the chairs. The red headed Karen then yelled, "fuck you asshole". Needless to say I won't be visiting Rudy's in the future and I've renamed them "Rudely's" read more

I went in to get a simple bang trim. I asked for the bangs to sit below the eyebrows but my stylist, Amanda, trimmed above that while my hair was still wet. So when it was blow-dried the bangs looked ridiculously short. I also had to point out how uneven it was, and even though she tried to fix it up, I'm still sporting horribly bad, uneven bangs. I've trimmed my own bangs before and I've done a better job than this. read more
