I'm genuinely shocked at the bad reviews. Our family eats here several times throughout the summer, and has for about 20 years. The chili dogs are the best, the freezes are delicious, and the fries are always fresh & such a generous portion. Sure, it's not an impressive looking place but it's a great place to take the whole family for a quick and yummy lunch. Service is as good as you'd expect from a group of high schoolers. The only thing I would love to see improve is more tables out back, I'm not sure why there's only a couple when they have a huge space and plenty of traffic. My all time favorite chili dog. This place is unbelievable. Seasonal as it's busy time in the summer. Menu is just hot dogs, chili, cheese and fries. Some ice cream and sodas as well. No nonsense. Quick and easy to order. Super fast service. We stop at this place every time we visit the Islands. Between $2.50-$4.00 for a dog. The chili is not like any other chili I've had. Meaty, and cheesy. We have eaten at Netty's several times. My boyfriend loves it, but I'm not really a fan. The place is always packs and I'm not sure why. I ordered a chili dog with onions and a fry. I love this place! For years we would drive by after taking the boat to Kelley's but never stopped. I finally tried it last summer and now I am hooked! I don't know how they do it but it is the best chili cheese dog of my life. Not a huge fan of the fries, they are a little bland for me. Cannot forget a malt while you're there, I love a chocolate peanut butter malt! This sounds silly but I got a large ice water to go and they actually gave me a large cup and it was so refreshing. I wish i could give zero stars...I just had the worst experience of my life here at the Marblehead location. As a person that works in customer service the way I was spoken too and treated was disturbing I don't agree that the customer is always right but in this case I was. I like their food which sucks because I will no longer be supporting this location. I'm sitting down with my family enjoying my food when I take a sip of my watered down lemonade, so of course I wanted to swap it out for something good like their root beer, didn't think any problem would come of this-at my place of work many people do this it's an EASY fix. Well apparently the manager didn't think so. I got accused of not even trying it because there wasn't a straw in the cup (as if i can't lift the lid and take a sip???) then the manager proceeds to tell me to try it again?? like really? so after arguing with me for wanting to swap it out with root beer she huff and puffs, rolls her eyes, and walks away too finally get me a new drink, all of this could've been avoided with an "i'm sorry ma'am i can fix that for you right away". I genuinely wonder why employees are getting SO brave to talk to a customers with the upmost disrespect. This is the second time i've commented because they wanted to delete my first comment. A long time area favorite. It's also popular with tourists checking out the islands. Netty's is one of those neighborhood food stands. Menu is mostly all hot dogs and ice cream. They also have good slushies. I like finding these neighborhood hangouts. It wasn't busy at all the day we stopped here. My companion wanted something cold so we stopped. It doesn't look like anything noteworthy. It's just outdoor seating only. There's a walk up window. It has some tables in front. We ordered. I got a peach slushie because it was an unusual flavor. It's about $2 for a medium size. This was a decent tasting slushie. It wasn't great but it was okay. She had some ice cream that was something mixed with vanilla. It was reported to be not that bad. This did the job of cooling off. It also has hot food. Most of it is greasy stuff like fries. There was nothing that appealed to us. read more

We absolutely love Netty's chili dogs and fries. An order of fries is so big we have to share. They also have the best chocolate shakes around. The owners are great people who do a lot to help the community. I don't think I've ever been there when I didn't see them working hard alongside the many teenagers they employ. I've been going here religiously since I was a kid and the last two experiences have been pretty bad. I ordered two hot dogs without buns (due to allergies) with only chili and cheese. Got my order the first time and they gave me both with buns so I went back and asked for new ones to be made, emphasizing the allergies to the kid working the counter. Got the replacement dogs, gave them a quick look and went on my way. When I got home my best friend was so excited to try the chili dogs I've been raving about for years only to have an allergic reaction to the onions. Thank god he had his Epi-pen. Pretty good chili dog with cheese, mustard, onion! Slightly spicy sauce, fresh bun, dog itself was good. Next time I'll ask for it unwrapped; they wrap them so tight that it's a little unappetizing, but they probably travel better that way if you're taking out. I was eating in and didn't need the tight wrap. Ask for extra napkins; the chili leaves bright orange stains on your hands. Menu is weird -- doesn't seem to be on display anywhere except on the rear wall behind the serving windows, so you can't see what's on it until you get to the window. Not a problem for regulars but this is a tourist area. Service is strangely slow for what they're dishing out. Probably took at least ten minutes for them to call my name. I'm trying to figure out how it can possibly take that long to put a dog in a bun, squirt on some mustard, spoon on a few diced onions and grated cheese, ladle on some chili, and wrap it. You ought to be able to serve these almost as fast as you can order them. I've been going to Netty's every summer for at least 20 years. Chili dogs are fantastic! Better than Skyline. Their root beer is wonderful and popcorn is addicting. I went today for the first time this year since we are at our place in Lakeside. The almost always perfectly cooked French fries nice and hot given to you in an overflowing fry bag, were in a small cardboard container and were not their usual fries. These were undercooked fake "fresh fries" that have the skin on either end. Very disappointing. Hope it's just a supply issue and they're waiting for the ones everyone loves to be delivered soon. Ah... Nettys. Our favorite place to stop when we make it back to Port Clinton. I was suprised to see such a low rating when I looked for this here on Yelp! I've always loved this place!! My wife worked here for a summer and the owners are good, local people and care very much about their customers. We've never had a bad experience, except when we left our chili cheese fries sit for 15 minutes before eating them and they got soggy - not Netty's fault though! These are the absolute best Chili dogs I have ever had. The reviewer who said theirs were cold... I wish you would have taken them back to the counter and asked the owners to replace them... I'm certain they would have! The dogs, when correctly made (usually are) are hot, steamy, and tender, with warm buns and sweet chili sauce. You can get them with mustard and onions (standard) or without. They also serve fries, made fresh for every order, and you can get cheese or chili, or both on them! Their ice cream is also fantastic! Very creamy, as it is Toft's ice cream at this location. Toft's for those who don't know is a local ice creamery based out of Sandusky, OH. We were out touring the area as we waited to check into our hotel, so we stopped for some chili dogs as a late lunch. I got one chili, one regular with mustard and ketchup. The husband got two chili dogs with everything but mustard. We got a thing of fries to split. Strawberry shake for me, chocolate for him. 1. Cash only. Thank goodness the husband stopped to get some before we left our town. 2. No bathrooms. Really? Even for paying customers? 3. Few tables, lots of bugs. 4. Not a huge menu, actually very limited, but for a small stand, that's understandable. The wait wasn't long but the dogs were still cold in the middle. Even the chili was just lukewarm in temperature. Not sure how they're cooked because they weren't wet dogs, hot and steamy inside, like the ones on the street corners of NYC. The fries were hot, though. Shakes were good, too. Definitely wouldn't make it a special trip if we headed back to the area, though. Nothing more special than Stewarts or A&W, and nothing to write home about. read more

It hurts me to say this because I want every family owned place to succeed. Fortunately, Netty's will survive my review which starts with...Hands down, the worst chili dog in the world. Starting with the white, tasteless, mushy, lowest grade hot dog through to the smushed and soggy bun drenched from the greasy and bland, dog food they called "chili" they uncaringly dumped on top. Spent a ton of time in port clinton growing up, and went here a couple dozen times. Still to this day will stop in for a "netty dog". The new favorite for us is the chili cheese fries, and we seem to get them instead for last few years. In my opinion this is the very best chili dog around, and if not, the chili itself has to be a runner up in anyone's book. Netty's is my Holy Grail of Chili Dogs. Picture a Summer dairy stand that serves chili dogs. Chili dog + chocolate shake + fries = most worth it tummy ache ever. The stand is seasonal, the service is kinda slow and the choices are few. But chances are if you're here, you're on vacation - and you don't really care.
