Everything arrived pretty quickly and as we ordered, along with a basket of biscuits. A pretty solid portion - enough that the biscuits went into a box and were our breakfast this morning. The toy Lottie got was the same $30 warmie she had gotten 3 days ago and I laughed with the girl at the register about it. It's all she wanted for a second time. Took the kids back to the restaurant, ate our food, about 30-40 minutes later we came back around to the same girl at check out. I'm wrestling the kids trying to keep them with me in line, just trying to pay for my food and get out. The girl takes the toy from Lottie and asks if I'm paying for it separately. I was like "no girl I just talked to you about 30 minutes ago and paid for this. Remember I said this was her second one because we bought one just like it a few days ago?" She asks for my receipt. I told her I didn't know where it was, it might be on the table. She says, "well I need to know what the person looked like that paid for this." I asked her to look it up on the account if she could, blah blah blah. I ended up getting a little rude at this point because she's accusing me of trying to steal when I literally just gave $64 for TOYS. THEN she talks about it to the next people in line. I went in a second time after leaving to apologize for the way I talked to her and tried to explain that had I just paid for it and she was the one who checked me out, BUT that I was so sorry for being rude to her. She immediately starts popping back with, "I wasn't even here, my shift hadn't even started" yada yada. Then when I asked her manager and she came, she gave her the "this customer is an idiot" smirk. I have literally never felt so small. She treated me like trash. I'm in there so often that a lot of the waitresses have become friends, my kids love them, we loved going there. The manager was so nice, but we will not be back. I don't ever post this kind of thing, but this was wild. I've never been treated like that before, especially in a restaurant.

Lucky for us it was really great! I had the country fried steak platter with over easy eggs. My wife had a bacon and egg platter, subbing the toast or biscuit option for a pancake. The pancakes here are offered in two varieties--"thin" or standard. She went standard, which is a thick, fluffy pancake. I haven't seen this style served outside of the many pancake houses in the smoky mountains. Always enjoy those when staying there and this one, judging from my bite, is on par with those. For those unaccustomed to this style, it's far better than you might imagine. The "thin" cakes, which can be ordered in stacks, is what is a "standard" hotcake pretty much anywhere else. My country fried steak was great, eggs cooked to order perfectly. Hot coffee, cheap prices, great service even though they were very busy and our server was juggling a dozen tasks simultaneously.
