This was my first time trying Rudy's BBQ, and honestly, I wasn't missing out on much. I wasn't impressed. First things first - presentation. I didn't care for how they wrapped the meats. Why not just put them in a proper to-go container? I ordered ribs, moist brisket, new potatoes, and a banana pudding. There were two other orders, and one person also got ribs -- so they just put them together. Now for the food: Ribs: Good flavor, nice and tender. New Potatoes: Completely bland. I had to add some Slap Ya Mama seasoning just to make them edible. Brisket: Way too salty. I haven't tried the banana pudding yet, but really... how bad could that be?

First time in and the staff was very helpful and personable. Huge dining area with multiple rooms. I really enjoyed the brisket and ribs. Pulled pork had too mushy of a texture for me. Will be back for sure.

Rudy's is an amazing spot with delicious food. The restaurant is clean, comfortable. Everything I've tried has been fresh, flavorful, and well‑seasoned. Highly recommended!

We don't get back to Houston very often, but when we do, a visit to Rudy's is on our to-do list. Just walking into the dining room the comforting smoke in the air told me I was home. We've got a long drive back to Louisville, and Rudy's bbq beats some roadside burger doodle. We bought half a pound of smoked turkey, another half of smoked pork loin and a pint of coleslaw. Rudy's offers plenty of bread with your order for sandwiches. Add packets of "sause" and pickles and you've got your fixins for some great sandwiches. . I'm almost looking forward to the 18 hour drive home. Almost.

Authentic BBQ! Meats are full of smoky flavor, tender, and juicy. Came here with a big group and we were able to find seating pretty easily. Place is kept clean and whatever you usually need at a BBQ joint is pretty accessible. Servers were prompt and polite. They're always on the move but seemed efficient and enjoying their work (which usually reflects in the product). Our family who are locals brought us here and it didn't disappoint in checking Texas BBQ off our list.

Still undefeated. No matter how many of the Top 50 places I've ate at, I always make time to stop by Rudy's! Not all of them are good, but the Katy location is my fave! My order is always the same, a brisket potato with the works, 1/4lb of turkey, and a couple baby back ribs. Sometimes creamed corn and usually a small banana pudding. Don't forget the sweet tea in the plastic cup. Always hits. Don't sleep on Rudy's. You know what you're getting and it's always consistent. Rudy's for the win!

I've seen this sign on the freeway a few times but never stopped. I stopped and I didn't regret it. I was greeted with welcoming smiles. The inside reminds you of an old fashioned store. It's colorful. They have drinks in the coolers with ice for you to grab your favorite soda pop The cooler was filled potato salad/ coleslaw and desserts. I tried the coleslaw which was vinegar based and it was good. I tried both sauces. The sassy sauce and the original. Both were good. The turkey was good and so was the brisket. We also ordered turkey by the pound and they offered slices of bread for it. The only thing that I was not a fan of was. This place is right off the freeway. When it's time to exit there is a big cement barrier up and you cannot see the freeway for a good enough distance to clear the exit. I'm pretty sure that someone has crashed here. I'm not sure if the barrier is temporary or not. But Houston traffic and flow of the cars is erratic. This has to be fixed.

Way over priced for products. Order 5 ribs and one small side. Price was $23 for lunch. Quality is not good.

One of my favorite BBQ places in Katy. Great service and good food. Would recommend the brisket, ribs, corn, and mac and cheese.

Does Rudy's serve alcohol? Beer, specifically.

Iced in a trough while you wait in line. I think they are all domestics and Texas beers.

The exterior is just as beautifully decorated. It's clear that chef-owner Lori Pope poured a lot of time, heart, and soul into both the menu and the store's design. The hostess was super friendly. As soon as I walked in, she gave me a warm and smiling greeting. The menu was a feast for the eyes. It had a lot of lovely pictures of the different dishes. I was ecstatic to see that there were so many vegetarian and vegan friendly options. Also, most of the dishes can be requested to be made gluten-free. Big plus. You don't order at your table, instead you go to the counter in the back and make sure to bring the sheet with your table number on it. The gal at the counter who took our order wasn't as friendly as the hostess but she was polite enough to inform us about the 15% charge. The food came out very quickly. Hopefully it's because they had a ton of people working in the back. Hopefully. I ordered the Magic Mushroom Tacos and thought it was a beautiful plate. My favorite thing about the dish is the tortillas. It had a nice light crisp to it and kept all the fillings intact from start to finish. The "Magic Mushrooms" were good but could have been better if the batter were lighter and crispier. The batter was a little on the heavy and dense side for me. I also think the sauce could be even better if it had a bit less oil and a bit more flavor. I really enjoyed the potato slices and the fresh berries were a great way to cleanse the palate. My lunch date ordered the Biscuit and gravy dish and thought it was good. We also ordered a side of the Belgian waffle to share. I thought the waffle on its own was extremely sweet and way too dense for my liking. I am happy there's a locally owned and created brunch place like Harvest Kitchen and will definitely be back to try other dishes. Note: There's an automatic 15% service charge to every order.

She brought me my cinnamon roll after I asked for a refund, I relayed that message to granddaughter. My review reflects on her unwelcoming hostess mentioned.. I was also met with pages of messages on Instagram from their personal page after this review that I KINDLY responded to on how they no longer served us. Apparently you can't be open and honest on yelp without being banned from this restaurant. Lack of professionalism and ability to accept open criticism is clearly an issue & displayed here. Being labeled as much considering the close and friendly relationships I've had with the staff here is disappointing, disgraceful, and disrespectful. I will not longer be commenting on this as of 06/17/2026. 06/16/2026: I am a regular. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed my meal and/or experience here from start to finish here. Today was my last straw. The experience and food is noticeably different when chef Lori is not here. For $80 I expect my food to come fresh and delivered with the rest of the tables food. I don't expect to sit down for 10 - 15 minutes to then be notified they are out of what I ordered. I've sat down for an extra 5 - 10 minutes and I saw 10 empty tables with no line. The whole experience here has gone downhill and rapidly fast. To say the least, I will not consider myself a regular here anymore. I added an old picture because I really use to enjoy this place.

I had been watching this one being built for a while and was especially curious to try it since this location has a full bar, which adds a really fun twist to the traditional coffee shop concept. I stopped in for lunch and decided to sit out on the patio which ended up being the perfect choice. The atmosphere was relaxed, bright, and inviting with a nice open feel that makes it easy to slow down and actually enjoy your meal. The staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in and everything moved quickly and smoothly. I ordered the guava mimosa and it was SO good. Light, refreshing, and honestly the perfect daytime drink. For food I had the chicken avocado wrap and substituted the chips for truffle fries and both were SOOOOO good. The wrap was fresh, warm, and packed with flavor and the truffle fries were absolutely worth the upgrade. I love that this location keeps the cozy Buzz and Bites feel while also leaning into a slightly more elevated vibe with the bar and patio seating. Between the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the great food and drinks, I can already tell this will become a regular lunch spot now that it is so close to our office.

But wait, there's more....... The exterior could definitely use some work. Host stand plopped outside. Inside felt a little crowded. Wine cellar-ish. Mother's Day, a bit chaotic for all restaurants. Took 10-15 minutes to be greeted after being sat. No big deal, I get it. Santiago was great. We did the mystery mimosa experience which was fun! We go to order our food and BOOM!! This is where they get you. It was all a lie. A very deceiving menu written in a way where you think you're going to get oxtails and jollof rice plus appetizer and dessert for $55 per person. Because that's a great price, not really a deal, just a great price. WRONG. Santiago had to clarify that it was $55 EXTRA ON TOP OF $42 PER PERSON. SO $97 PER PERSON FOR OXTAILS AND JOLLOF RICE, AN APP & DESSERT. RIDICULOUS! TOTALLY DISHONEST AND DECEIVING. Write it as $55 additional per person, so everyone knows what they're getting into before they reserve their table. Because Santiago admitted everyone he served that day was shocked at the additional cost. Not wanting to ruin my wife's FIRST Mother's Day, I brushed it off and still continued with the order. Appetizer: tequeño & empanada. Bland, came out cold and after our entrees came out. Entrees: Oxtail & Jollof rice. I loved it. Flavor was great. Just wish there was a lot more. For $97, you expect to have 6-8 large oxtails and a side of rice. What i got was 4 very tiny oxtails and a full plate of rice!! Peri peri chicken & jollof rice- flavor was nice and smoky. But again, for $97, you expect more than 2 avg size leg quarters and a full plate of rice. Dessert: They were out of key lime pie by noon. I saw the cheesecake, it was a thin plain slice, so we opted for their seis leches cake. It was not good. It was not soaked enough, very dry. The reason the score wasn't lower was because service was great, the entrees tasted great and they gave each mother a single rose and Mother's Day card which had a pin in it that said best mom ever. Which made my wife's day even that much better. Thank you Chef Casey. But I don't think I would visit again solely based on the deceiving menu and small portions that are not worth the additional cost.
